[Mari]

This thread is simple! It exists to catalogue all the interesting status effects I've thought up and used throughout my missions. Please note that not all of these statuses are balanced for use by players, as some of them were invented in missions I was GMing to challenge the players specifically. If a status alteration on this page has been explicitly and officially approved for use by player characters and therefore has accepted conditions under which it is considered balanced, I will label it with the following code: (Balanced). If the status is explicitly intended to be excessively punishing towards players and should never be approved for use by player characters outside of maybe, and that's a big maybe, a final smash it will be marked as (Broken).


Drowsy: (Lesser) (Balanced) (Duration determined by INT)
A state of exhaustion that negatively effects the victim's mind. Reduces the victim's wisdom modifier by 2 and their dexterity modifier by 1, with its duration determined by an INT roll

Frostbite: (Lesser) (Balanced) (Duration determined by CON)
Elemental inversion of the burn status. It works the same mechanically, except that it is ice element and cured by heat instead of water.

Slippery: (Lesser) (Duration determined by CON)
Slippery causes the target to take a -2 dodge penalty representing the need to be more careful about their footwork. Any time they travel using their feet for any length of time or stand up from being prone, they take a -2 penalty on their next roll during or immediately afterwards. Additionally, any natural 1 they roll or critical rolled against them knocks them prone, dealing 8 damage and taking the -2 penalty mentioned above. Lastly, they take a -4 penalty to resist being pushed or knocked back, but gain a +2 to attempts to break the grappled condition.

Hypothermia: (Broken)
The victim is in imminent danger of freezing to death, represented by the deterioration of their Constitution and all three mental stats. Each turn their constitution stat lowers by 1d3+1 and their mental stats lower by that value -1. When their constitution stat reaches 0, they perish regardless of their HP. Only extended and penetrating warmth can cure this status and undo the damage caused.

Immobilized: (Broken)
The victim is completely helpless and unable to act for X turns.

Unnerved: (Lesser)
A weaker version of horrified. The victim's courage and resolve are shaken by fear, shock or disgust. They suffer a -1 to their Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma modifiers and a 3% damage penalty. Duration determined by an INT roll.

Immolated:
For when your character is actively being burned away, for example if they are literally on fire or covered in a caustic substance. On any turn they do not spend an action attempting to stop their burning, they take 15% damage. On any turn they do, they take 8% damage. Stopping the burning consumes an action. The means of stopping the burning is decided by the circumstances.
