The Phazon Caverns, a rather desolate cave where the mission takes place, was in an uproar, all of Ridley's pirate thugs... Or at least those who had already been here yet corrupted by the Phazon, were busy mining the stuff, the pirates themselves having a platoon of power troopers serving as both guards and transporters of the volatile substance to the essence extraction point as a means of further bolstering their forces.

While they were not the smartest creatures on the planet, they weren't exactly stupid in regards to killing off their own kind to ensure they did not die of Phazon Madness, that and they still had the willpower to reverse-Engineer things, though they still had problems regarding that damn morph ball ability of Samus Aran, though that didn't stop them from doing it with the Chozo tech they often keep finding.

Having finished their quota for the day the pirates would leave for their base via transport tram, completely unaware of there being a possible breach in their security which could easily be exploited by a group of intrepid adventurers.

MISSION
START

Arriving at the outside of the cavern mouth, the five tailed fox checked his gear briefly, keeping his hands firmly around the side of his weapons of choice for this. While normally he'd choose to come heavier armed than this, all of his trailing held him confident enough where he stood. As his foggy blue eyes fell upon the Phazon cavern's form, he'd felt the sensation of fear running through his body. It was natural, this energy practically crawled along his fur, under his skin, and mingling throughout his body briefly. The half kitsune gripped his right tonfa and whipped it around a few times before he brought it back to his side as he pointed it at the cave. "Seems that you're the opponent today, you'll be revealing your secrets to us yet." 

At this point now it was just waiting for his teammates, there was no reason to rush in after all and he wasn't that eager to do so. With a brief look around behind his back, both of the fox's knuckles curled firmly around his loincloth as he adjusted it against his waist briefly. Before pulling the cowl of his cloak back from his face and looked at the entryway again, his ears twitching softly as he listened around himself. He imagined someone else was taking point here, well he'd imagined someone either had guts or the knowledge of this place before heading in. Perhaps a combination of all? For him it was courage that brought him here, a wish to redeem his lack of activity after the meteor. He'd had his will tested then and he hadn't stacked up. He stood with a renewed vigor, a small smile on his face and his eyes narrowed lightly at the excitement of an adventure awaiting him. This tale was going to unfold itself and quickly, as soon as everyone arrived and they'd gone in.

The small and mischievous adventurer, commonly referred to as Hat Kid, sped across the Zebes Depths on her small scooter, making her way towards a singular point on a map she had on her possession. Making her way there was a long and dangerous process, but It could've been worse. She had a pretty good idea of where to go, and simply needed to get there while staying out of trouble. Staying out of trouble wasn't normally her strong suit, but she knew how to avoid life or death situations...for the most part.

Getting close to her destination, she found somebody standing outside of the cave entrance. One of my fellow adventurers, no doubt, she thought to herself. She jumped out of her scooter onto the ground, letting it disappear with a pop and a puff of smoke. She then used a similar ability to replace her feathery visor with her iconic and ever-so-adorable top hat.

"Hey there!" She said to the lone figure. He seemed trustworthy enough to her, but then again, she was never the best judge of character. Nevertheless, Hat Kid maintained her peppy attitude. "You here for that collection job? Don't worry, I'm good at collecting. I mean, really good."

Strangely enough for a mission like this, yet another young girl was making her way to the Caverns, perched upon the back of a brightly colored beast. Parium, who had the sense to stop once the Caverns were in view and be returned to a medal form, leaving Alma to make her little way to the collection mission.

Her eyes widened upon seeing Hat Kid, and she clapped her hands together, "You're hat is amazing! Hi, I'm Alma, who're you?" She smiled easily enough, having no sense of either urgency or danger, and turned her smile to the fox. "You...look like a fox!" She observed proudly, then puffed out her chest, "Me and my Vivasaurs can carry a ton of stuff, I'll protect us too if things get scary!" She was a great Fossil Fighter, no doubt she could protect them if needed! Then she could show how helpful she was!

The caverns were no place to underestimate such power, as one false move would result in Phazon Corruption, as much as even the space pirates themselves weren't exactly immune to the stuff.

The space pirates didn't know of the three that were now entering their territory, but so long as they stayed hidden from sight, the three wouldn't have to fight an entire platoon of them.

EVERYONE! Roll 6 or higher with mods to avoid getting spotted by the space pirates.

As the five tail turned to face the Hat wearing kid first, he'd smiled at her and waved back to her. "Hi there. And yes I am here for the collection job. I think we've got one more along. And with someone like you who's good at this? I think we're going to do just great, I'm feeling confident already."

Well confident was a word at least, he'd let his fingers run along through his hair a moment, before smoothing the cowl against his back, to make sure that the spear was gripped as he looked towards the cavern entrance with a grin on his face. Though it was the sound of something trotting up that caught his attention. While he turned to face while smiling at the look of the second girl and her arrival. He'd laughed at her introduction towards the new arrival, these were his mission partners. He knew that this meant he could depend upon them for sure, that along was a reason for him to not only to trust, but now to introduce himself!

"Sorry about my silence, my name is Arrow Rinehart, and I'm happy to meet you Hat person and Alma! Let's get along and find this mission is no match for our combined talents, I can already tell; we've got this in spades." having smiled at the two, from one to another, the fox's ears perked up while he gestured softly for them to move to the side. A look of concern of his face before he gestured to a place to avoid the view where the movement ahead before them. He tried to duck out of sight and hoped he wasn't going to make a noise.

"My name? Oh, you can call me Hat Kid. And thanks! I like your dress." 

Hat Kid was excited about the mission. Her teammates were really nice and seemed very confident about the mission, which rubbed off on her, making her confidence increase. Sure, the caverns were filled with dangerous thugs who would prove a challenge in a fair fight, but Hat Kid was never planning on fighting fair.

Their best bet would be sneaking in, which wouldn't be too difficult. After all, the caverns were a big place, filled with the sounds of metal striking stone as the Space Pirates mined for Phazon. Of course, there was always the possibility of running into some guards or workers during their stealth attempts, so they would have to be ready.

Finger gun at the ready, Hat Kid stepped into the cave, making sure to tiptoe in order to make as little noise as possible. Despite how noisy the caverns would be, what with the previously mentioned mining, avoiding making excess noise was as high a priority as staying out of sight. However, just because Hat Kid was doing well didn't mean everyone was doing well. After all, the more people, the more likely someone will slip up. That someone who slipped up was Arrow. A poorly placed stone caused him to topple over, making a lot of noise. Hat Kid barely stifled a yelp after hearing it, knowing full well how much attention such a loud sound could attract.1d20+1

Alma smiled a wide grin, holding the sides of her dress out in a mixture of pride and glee, "T-thanks! I like this dress too!" Her response suddenly raised in pitch as excitement rushed through her, "I'll show you my other friends later, Arrow and Hat Kid! Let's go!"

Skipping through the Caverns certainly wasn't the stealthiest way to search, and Alma froze at sudden movement as Arrow appeared to notice something ahead.

But she was quick enough, and didn't stumble, unlike her new, unfortunate friend. She ducked behind any rocks on the way, and her light steps kept her from being spotted, though she covered her ears in fear at Arrow's blunder. She resisted calling out to him, hoping that nobody noticed the sound, and she started holding her medals, liking the safety she felt by their presence.1d20+1

The sound of the fox tripping over one of his tails was enough to cause a small platoon of space pirates further down to wake with a start, unaware that they had company within the caverns they were working in, they decided that if they found anyone suspicious, they would alert the rest, and one of them made their move known by doing a patrol routine.

Arrow! Your stumble has caused some Space Pirates to begin patrol duty, roll 2 or higher to avoid getting spotted.

As for the other two, they were safe for now, but who knows what might happen if their cover was blown by a space pirate on patrol.

Arrow worked to keep his cool and made sure to get a move on, actually stepping to the side with a quick shuffle to get himself out of sight. He'd been working to regain his composure while literally moving to duck for cover. He'd moved himself towards the side, to escape the visage of the incoming pirates who were now beginning their patrol.

Managing some of that good nature of his stealth as a fox, he did manage to recover from his blunder and make his way out of sight, ducking behind a stone large enough to cover his visage completely while he let his fingers sweep over his forehead. That was a poor way to start, but hopefully now with cover, he hoped not to get any of the others positions uncovered.

Hat Kid could sense that the fall had attracted a bit of attention. It was hard to tell, but it sounded like some guards were patrolling nearby. Hat Kid figured that sneaking by would be a bit harder now, but not all was lost. All they needed to do was be careful going forwards.

"You okay?" Hat Kid whispered to Arrow, who managed to recover without much issue. He seemed fine physically, but she could only imagine that his confidence was waning. She decided to take initiative and beckon the group forwards. Hat Kid began to move forwards while motioning the others to follow. She even gave a reassuring smile, to show that there was still hope. After all, what harm could some silly space pirates do to them?

Alma poked her head out from her hiding place, finding to her relief that they hadn't been found right this moment, and putting her medals back into her pockets. She could swear even her Vivasaurs calmed down, the glow of their medals fading away.

And Hat Kid was off!

Alma shot a frantic glance around, concluding that they were safe before trotting forward and extending a hand at her new fox friend. If either of them stumbled, maybe they could pull the other back into place! It could work! Either way her offer was treated, she set off close behind Hat Kid, tip-toe by tip-toe.

The pace was just as dauntless as they made their way silently and carefully whole trying to avoid being spotted, the only things they would hear were the sounds of the space pirates own incoherent chatter as they began to search the area for intruders.

It just so happens that there was a few small crates in the area that contained some pure Phazon crystals, yet there was something suspicious about three crates filled with Phazon crystals laying out in the open...

It was as though the Patrolling Space Pirates were expecting theft of their resources and were unaware of the three heroes out to collect it so the Lightweather Hospital could make use of it in their research.

Everyone! Roll 2+ in DEX to hide in the shadows of the path you are taking to reach the crates of Phazon Crystals!

While mentally he'd been close to letting loose a few 'darns', 'hecks', and 'dagnabits!' the snowy colored tod was feeling a bit better by now. Back in cover and with some time to calm his heartbeat down, he was absolutely on the road to recovery in terms of mentality. But visibly on the surface, Arrow was in one piece and now just looking towards his comrades with a soft smile. Hoping to reassure them both, he responded first to Hat Kid with a soft nod, though well determined. "Tiny shake up back there, but I'm okay. I promise." 


Though this too was something that he believed, the sight of Alma's hand being extended towards him was welcome. He took her hand and now making sure they kept pace with the courageous Hat Kid, he made sure to keep his tails out behind him for balance. Tip-toeing was the way to go and he knew it, so taking the pace lightly, his foggy blue eyes moved with focus as he moved after the pair.

The group's spirit was higher than one would expect after such a mistake. Arrow recovered with relative ease, and Alma didn't seem discouraged in the slightest. Hat Kid herself was sure they'ed be alright, and made this as clear as possible.

Within only a few moments, they were moving forward as if it had never happened. Moving ahead just a tad, Hat Kid spotted just what they were looking for: Phazon. A good amount of it too. Hat Kid turned around and motioned ahead. Idealistically, they'ed be able to just walk up and take it, but why take such a gamble? They'ed have to be careful, and watch for any potential surprises.
