There was a knock at Jr's Door but no one was there to answer except a note and a... literal fishy smell. The note seemed water-proofed as well so there was a bit of no doubt who sent it... How they found where he lived is another story but...

"Dear Bowser Jr,

I want to prove, to myself mostly, that I am able to, um, fight with you guys. I wanted to challenge you to a fight in the stadium since... No offense but you're probably one of the least scary people I know. I mean if it's not too much trouble of course. A prince must be pretty busy, right? Well, I am not really doing anything today so I guess it won't hurt if you don't show... Please show if you can though... It'd probably disappoint a lot of people if you didn't... No pressure obviously! They'll probably be disappointed anyway... Um, anyway, if you are still reading this, if you even read it, I'll let you get back to... whatever Princes do.

Well, that letter was full of self-degradingness. That aside, the Stadium in it's gladitorialness was a bit different than normal. A few pools of water dotted across the stadium, probably to help Seriri feel less at a disadvantage. She could move on land but she dehydrated faster than most and she could move easier in the water. She looked through a book while she waited for if Jr. even showed. The audience kind of just wondering who allowed a Mermaid to compete in serious dry land sport. Then again, they did not really have the time or tech to set up a giant arena bubble now that they think about it. Well, the mermaid was a sight anyway this far out on land even if she was obviously trying to ignore the fact she's being watched.

Jr re-read the letter that he had received that morning as he gazed up at stadium entrance. The subtle dig at his appearance aside ("'Least scary person I know', yeah right. I'm plenty scary!" Maybe to a gingerbread man, Jr) he was happy to help Seriri get stronger. Entering the stadium, Jr saw, as he probably expected, pools of water dotting the battlefield. 

"I'm here, Seriri!" Jr called out to the mermaid, probably jerking her out of the book she was reading "I hope your ready for a fight, because even though I'm helping you train, I'm not planning on holding back, and I hope you won't either." Jr got into a more battle ready position, with his head down and embers flickering in his mouth. Probably would look threatening if he was a little older and in a bit better shape. Ah well "Ready when you are, Seriri"

"Oh, h-hey! You made it! Thank you, Jr," the mermaid addressed as she looked up from her book before putting it away in a pouch. "This means a lot. I want to give it my all... Um, tell me if it starts hurting too much, alright?" Seriri timidly suggested before swimming back a bit. She cleared her throat and then started her battle plan by... singing. Horribly. Oh god was that singing completely off key. It was actually immensely painful to listen to and seemed to actually effect the mind a bit. Was she singing badly on purpose or was that a horrendous warmup?

The girl then jumped out of the pool of water, splashing a torrent of water at Jr out of the pool, trying to sweep him back. She did a spin in the air before diving into another pool, seeming to prefer keeping her distance in a fight as she tried to keep Jr. back and herself gaining distance. She then surfaced before clearing her throat again, this time singing a more pleasant song... This song unlike the last one was actually pretty beautiful... Really entrancing if one did not prepare their mind to beat the allure of a Siren's Song. A song that another race often used to lure sailors to their doom... Not that Seriri knew that and just knew it helped her made friends.

Seriri ended the song with a splash of rainbows and sparkles from the water before ending her singing in the middle of a battle. "I thought I'd open up with a bit of music, I hope you don't mind..." she went to timidly lower into the water a bit. The audience seemed a bit infatuated by her singing themselves. They did not even care about that horrendous warmup.

Seriri opened with....some terrible singing...Geez, this sounded like one of Ludwig's compositions. "Argh! Shut up! Stop" Jr howled as he covered his ears, trying to drown out the noise. But it was no use. Even after the singing stopped, Jr had a hard time hearing himself think clearly. Luckily, once Seriri leapt into the water, Jr's mind cleared enough for him to keep moving again.

Jr easily got out of the way of Seriri's blast of water, and was about to return the attack in kind when more singing hit his ears. Unlike the last time, this song sounded....good. Really good, actually

Jr halted his attack and started listening to the music. It sounded incredible. He could listen to this all day. And as he watched Seriri sing, he started to realize something. He had never realized how....pretty she was. No, not just pretty, beautiful. Especially now, with the rainbows and sparkling coming off the water.....He didn't want to hurt her! Even if she asked him to attack her.....but he couldn't refuse what she wanted....so he had too "I'm so sorry for this, Seriri" Jr said, before he tucked his head and limbs into his shell and hurled himself at Seriri. Hopefully this wouldn't hurt too much

He'd purposely done that. His emotions were getting in the way of his promise to fight. After Jr got out of his shell, he half-heartedly pulled out his Magic Paintbrush. "Be careful where you step, Seriri. You don't want to get sick!" Jr warned the mermaid before launching several puddles of goop onto the arena floor

The mermaid noted Jr's change in behavior. He said he was giving it his all but did he say he was sorry? The girl was getting some mixed signals? Was her singing that good? Yeah, that was definitely it. The mermaid ducked into the water at the spin regardless, the attack going over her before she got splashed in the back by some paint despite Jr's warnings. What was in this stuff? It was... heavily toxic and not environment friendly whatever it was. Seriri let out a few coughs before looking to Jr. "It-It's okay, I can still fight. Jr, would you mind doing one of your roars for me? To try and be a little intimidating?" the girl requested, the magic of the Siren's Song urging Jr to use his Roar Magic on himself he was so in it's grasp.

(Seriri's Siren Song was so effective she gets a free command to use one of Jr's attacks, so she has told Jr to use Sonic Roar to shrink himself, basically.)

"Did you just-... How did that happen?" Seriri seemed puzzled and hesitant to continue after her command but-... She had to fight until one of them yielded, she agreed to not hold back any punches. "Sorry about this! Hydro Storm! Scald!" Seriri declared, putting two hands together before firing a large torrent of water at the Koopa, the beam of water slamming hard before it would adjust itself into scalding hot water at Seriri's command and readjustment.

The water mermaid decided to end her assault of water pressure and heat on Jr by laying back in the water. That paint actually did hurt a lot. She could use a bit of a snack. And so she did, as she popped a piece of chocolate into her mouth and took on a outfit of a water proof heart apron. "I'm sorry about being hard on you, I can make you some sweets to make up for it?" the mermaid suggested... Well, this was a fight or something but the audience did not care, Seriri was was way too precious to hate for suddenly offering sweets midbattle.

Jr winced a little as some the toxic paint splashed across Seriri's back. He didn't want to see her hurt, but at the same time, he did promise to fight her. Oh well. But it sounded like Seriri had a good idea. Roaring could make him sound a bit more menacing. Besides....he felt like he needed to do it. He couldn't really place why though. Regardless, Jr threw his head back and let out the most ferocious roar he could muster. Which, in actuality, wasn't all that ferocious. And it started getting less so every passing second, because the pitch started steadily rising. And Jr himself....

Jr looked forward again.....only to look up. And up. How did Seriri get so big? Wait no...How did he...wait the roar. He used Sonic Roar on himself! How? And...well he knew why he did. Seriri had asked him to. But he couldn't dwell on the schematics of what just happened now. Seriri was shooting water at him!

His smaller size didn't' really make much of a difference. Jr was completely swamped by the jet of cold water, followed by a jet of boiling water soon after. Luckily he was used to higher temperature so the heat of the water didn't bother him much, but it still knocked the wind out of him.

That blast of water proved to snap him out of the spell Seriri had on him. He no longer felt attracted to her.....Well not to the point of not wanting to hurt her. She was still rather pretty....

Coughing and sputtering from almost getting drowned, Jr tried hoisting himself back onto his feet, launching a large stream of fire toward the source of the water. Probably to try and counter it. Probably.

Seriri kind of gave a surprised squeak at the fire being shot back at her, quickly ducking back into the water, raising her head after the first to get nailed by the second, fortunately managing to recoil out of the way of the third. "S-Sure, let me just take some candy myself first so I don't... get any ideas," Seriri said, there being a bit of forboding in those words before she pulled out a chocolate with seaweed and coral, before immediately having a stunned reaction as it looked like she locked up for a moment. Owowow, that candy was really shocking! Did she put in too much Sea Anenmoe? None the less, Seriri shook it off before taking out a chocolate treat filled with seaweed. "Here you go! Sea Lettuce Cocoa Krispies!" the mermaid declared, before tossing the sweet at Jr, which violently exploded as it landed near Jr.

Seriri declared as a giant sushi roll wrapped in Niori Seaweed materialized above Jr. before plummeting onto him and sealing him inside the roll should it hit it's mark from the force. The Sushi Roll seemed extremely dense too. She... was messing up this sweets thing a lot.

"How did that even-Oh, Jr.! I did not know it would do that! Sorry!" Seriri apologized again. She was very accident prone in the kitchen, evidently. Mermaid recipes are immensely volatile if poorly prepared.

Jr waited patiently as Seriri prepared the candy for him. She snuck some herself and she....looked a bit stunned by her own candy. That was...an odd reaction, but Jr didn't think too much of it. Until the candy that Seriri tossed him exploded

Getting sent flying by the candy's explosion, Jr landed a few feet away. He got to his feet, panting a little, before leering at little at Seriri "Hey! What's the big idea? I didn't think your candy was that volatile." Jr said. Well, if she didn't mean for it to happen, Jr could let her try again....Hopefully her next attempt was a little less....hostile.

And that hope was crushed, along with Jr as a large sushi roll just...appeared from the sky and dropped on top of him. A few moments passed where all was silent in the stadium, but Jr's head, arms, and upper torso eventually broke through the surface of the roll. "Hmm...Pretty good. A little big though" Jr critiqued aloud, . Looks like he had eaten his way out of the sushi. He panted a little, evidently exhausted. "Seriri?" Jr called "I give. You're gonna seriously hurt somebody if we keep going like this. Most likely me"

Pulling himself out of the sushi completely, Jr walked over to Seriri, spreading his arms out as a sign of surrender. "You did good." Jr said "I could barely get any hits in. And.." Jr suddenly started blushing a little "You sing really well" Hehehe...looks like someone had a little crush. Either that or the Siren Song was still messing up his head a little. "I hope I helped with your training a little. Even though I didn't offer that much of a challenge" Jr went on "You're really strong. I think you've proven yourself rather well. At least, you proved yourself to me"

With that parting remark, Jr put his claws to his mouth, blew a brief whistle, and waited as the Clown Car flew down beside him. He waited for a few minutes, in case Seriri wanted to say anything to him about her victory, before hopping in the Clown Car. He looked at Seriri with....was that pride in his eyes? The next instant, it was gone. Jr waved farewell to Seriri, and flew back home. He was gonna need a few days before recovering from this.

Seriri gave a sigh of relief as he chewed through the Sushi Roll. Phew, she was worried she crushed the kid... "R-Right, I guess that was... pretty good," the mermaid girl stated. "You... really like my singing that much, thank you. I... Think I learned a few things... Like my cooking..." Seriri noted a bit somberly as Jr. complimented her... She seemed rather oblivious of the crush. Would not be the first time she was clueless. Lack of human interaction would do that to you. "It.. means a lot for you to say I'm strong, Jr... Wait! Before you go!.. Um... since you like my singing, one last song?" Seriri suggested, coughing a bit at the lingering poison before singing a magical melody that seemed to relieve a small bit of Jr's Exhaustion through it's soothing tones. The music really struck a chord in revitilizing Jr. a bit. At least until he got some rest.

"Bye, Jr, thanks for the match~!" Seriri waved before flinching a bit as she tried to move to leave after Jr. left. Fortunately Roll was watching to help her leave. Definitely too much Sea Anenemoe.
