Using their special time necklaces from Toadsworth, the very special and all powerful team of mostly magic using heroes, take a long warp back in time into the very cave that one of the most evil and demonic forces on Li resided in, Vivi. It is speculated that this particular version of ViVi didn't completely die or even turn trophy when the past team defeated it. Instead it just sort of...vanished. Into thin air. Still apparently existing somewhere in the present, but no exact pinpoint on where it could have fled or hid. Or perhaps that evil wizard as well, was capable of its own time travel or dimensional magic. But now...in this current past moment in time, Vivi was very much inside this cave.
Upon arriving the team lands into one of the lower levels of the cave. There are streams of lava below the group flowing down into the very pit of the cave itself which appeared to go even deep into the planet's core. This cave was built by Vivi using his dark magic no doubt and the help of the factory's technology. Rumors floated along the Black Market gossip that a once possessed and manic Porky also helped Vivi with his motive of creating a death factory and evil sanctuary here, but those rumors cannot be confirmed. Additionally, Porky is certainly not on site here in this moment of time...or is he? Hopefully not. Vivi is a capable force of creating such monstrosity all his own after all.
As the group looks around, they'll see they are standing on a cliff; a swerving raised ridge of rock and dirt to be exact. The lava crashes upon the sides of the cliff with roaring force. The cave is very hot. If they explore up the ridge behind their landing point, they will head back up to the factory. They'll also notice and smell smoke up that way. Likely the scene of some fresh destruction. If they stay forward in their adventures and go down the ridge, they'll hear noises. Noises of battle. Explosions, blades slashing away, blasters being fired, and the scent of fresh magic being cultivated. There are also roars and screams. The cave in general is also slightly rumbling and shaking. It is very unstable. The cliff the group stood on, shook every now and then and could prove problematic if they hung around too long.
There is no immediate sign of any treasure or chest. It could be in either direction depending on which way the group decides to go. And it is not clear how deep or how far they would need to traverse to find what they're looking for. If the more magically sensitive and inclined heroes of the team here would take a moment and observe with more than just their usual senses, they would have a feeling of being watched. Where that feeling is coming from cannot yet be determined or pinpointed, but the energy felt isn't necessarily bad either. A voice from further down the cliff can be audibly heard engaged in combat.
"We almost have him. He can summon as much as he wants, but it won't matter when we cut through the defenses!" It mimicked that of a familiar hedgehog that resided in the Life Sphere. Not the blue one, what was his name again? Ah yes, but careful now, this is a past version of a hero...how much would it matter if one engaged with the fight breaking out? Or perhaps wait until it is over. Or maybe go up to the factory level instead and ignore the deeper path down. There are decisions that are dire here, the right one may be just a judgment call away...
Dimentio would arrive with the others, scanning his surroundings. While floating near the edge of the cliff he kicks a rock off to see how far down it goes as the rock sinks into the lava below. The fight does seem to be intense if they can hear the combatants from up here. Though the thing that worries him is the fact that he can feel that someone appears to be watching them. Probably the other powerful none evil presence they were told about by Toadsworth during the mission briefing.
"Whether this is an alternate timeline or not it'd be best we go up instead of down there during the battle. No use interfering in a battle where the outcome is already known." Dimentio said.
He then turned to the others and whispered.
"Besides if any of you with adequate magical prowess could tell we are being watched, and I'd like a chat with this little mystery person if they think they can actually spy on the Master of Dimensions and get away with it. Oh, and also they may be of use for us." Dimentio said.
He then focused and tried to find out exactly where this little mystery peeping tom is. It's not a type of thing he does often so he may be a bit rusty. Though hopefully, he can be able to find out where exactly this person is.
Madotsuki felt as though she was used to travelling at this point that she landed normally when she used the time necklace to go to the cave, she landed next to Dimentio who was already looking around. And looking down at the lava floor below them that was containing a fight nearby, likely between the team that defeated Vivi that day. Madotsuki stood near Dimentio and looked down.
In her mind, she wanted to go down there and beat up Vivi if he was really down there fighting a group. She was interested to see what the Life Sphere would look like in present day if she and the team did, but she knew getting that chest was more important, and more so. She saw that the fight was a good thing for the team.
"Whoever's beating up who down there, hopefully to death. It could give us a good distraction to grab the chest that we're looking for and get out of here." Madotsuki wanted to move upwards, seeing how it was unlikely that the chest would be in the lower floors and near the lava, however it seems as though Dimentio had a sense that the group were being watched.
Without further ado, Madotsuki briefly glowed and shot at a random direction. Hoping to hit whoever was watching the group, and hopefully not cause any cave ins or lava to flow when she does so.

Coming in from the future - or maybe I should say from the present - is Cloud, scanning over his surroundings as it became apparent to him the time travel was a success. He quietly takes note of the cavern's structure, the high temperature, the cliff and the streams of lava, but paid special attention to the loud noises coming from down below - they must've warped at the start of the battle. The cave shook with the intensity of the fight below. They didn't have much time.
"We don't interfere with the battle below unless it turns out to be necessary. Right now, our priority's that chest." Cloud replied to Dimentio, though it could be taken as a general comment as well. Sure, that diminutive old man said that their interventions wouldn't affect their timeline, so they could potentially help the others down there, but Cloud's focus was on the mission given to them. "Alright everyone, let's move." he instructed, ready to go up...

...except something else ends up catching his attention. The former SOLDIER might not be as attuned to magic as the others may be, but he could feel the presence of something or somebody else, watching their movements. Taking the Buster Sword out, Cloud turned to the place he felt the stronger presence and approached it a bit. "Who or whatever you are, show yourself. We know you're here." Cloud ordered, keeping his eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. The last thing they needed was a magical presence to alert the enemy forces of their presence...
...Far be it from her to partake in performative heroics. The mere thought disgusted her a little. As she descended though, Dimentio's words caught her attention. As did the... wayward blast madotsuki fired off. Sheesh. If she were any more fashionably late that could've hit her. She paused for a good long moment, just kind of letting everyone speak. A chuckle escaped her before she began speaking.
“...Uhuhuhu, did you think you were going to travel back in time without drawing the gazes of powerful figures?” Dark Witch asked in amusement. “Privacy is a myth people perpetuate for their own comfort anyway. If you're only noticing you're being watched now, it means you haven't been paying close enough attention. Now... What do you say we give our 'audience' a show~?” she went on to remark and ask, floating over to the path leading up to the factory.

As the group began to get their bearings of the area and adjusted to their environment to make the best choice to move forward within the unstable and hectic cave, they also all universally agreed that they were being spied on and watched carefully the moment they had arrived here. Dimentio was the first to notice a presence watching them, and the others shortly followed suit in agreement. It was smart to notice such a thing so quickly, as the one watching them could have effected their mission one way or another. After being called out and caught for their eavesdropping and spying game, the figure that has been secretly watching the group makes itself known; caught by surprise and unaware that it was found out. A ball of majestic light slowly forms in the space above the group's heads. After a few moments of bright flashing energy and the sound of high pitched ringing suddenly filling the entire team's ears, a figure begins to descend onto the group. Small in stature, and filled with an incredibly strong off the charts magical energy with an aura that beams insane levels of other worldly power, this figure makes itself known with an oddly calm serenity to it.
Floating down from the air the figure reaches its feet to the surface and politely waves hello to everyone. Aside from its sky rocketing energy levels, the figure also appears almost childlike in stature and demeanor. Its face round and fully black, its eyes a searing yellow in which if one looked into them they would see a never ending pool of mana and generations of stories and battles no singular soul could ever comprehend or understand. Additionally, the figure seemed loose, carefree, almost playful having a bounce in its body language and being very light hearted. The first thing the stranger noticed was The Dark Witch heading up to the factory and wags a finger at them.
"Not smart to go that way is it?" It then turns its attention from the witch then to the group and introduces itself. "My name is Vivi. And if you all choose to go that way, you'll find nothing but rubble and a trail of robot remains." Instantly saying its name would surely raise alarm and prove an instant threat to all ears that hear it; feeling the sudden rise in hostility before it would even get out of hand, Vivi nips the concern to be, right in the bud.
"Before any words are said, not THAT Vivi...the other Vivi...or should I say, the good one. Complicated, I know." Vivi giggles finding this forthcoming and upcoming air of confusion and disarray quite fun. A little chaos and disorder never hurt anyone. Much. He liked to ruffle feathers every so often. He gets rather bored alot. "You see, that battle down there....that's me doing all that hooplah. Well, it's me, and it isn't...you see." Vivi takes a breathe thinking how best to explain. "It's a piece of me. A piece of me that got out of hand...." He continues to elaborate hoping he's on the right track.
"Quite simply, it's evil me. We all have parts of ourselves or our past, that we don't necessarily like. And I was very alone on this planet when I crashed here; I was one of the First To Fall....to be exact. Watching E. Gadd and the others using a cloak of simple invisibility magic put the Life Sphere together and how far Samus has come from fighting off the very first Infected to managing the Life Sphere's greatest defense systems to even deciding who is the better bickerer between the plumber and the blue hedgehog....but I never fully made myself known. Never knocked on the doors of such a grand accomplishment of technology. Because I was afraid." Vivi sighs getting to the heart of it all now. Where he quite possibly made the biggest mistake of his long life.
"I was afraid they wouldn't accept me due to not knowing me or willing to in a way, and sensing the power I am capable of, which can be rather dangerous and uncontrollable if I have one of my mood swings." Vivi clutches his chest, remembering the times he let his power get the best of him and cause some serious destruction. "I also don't exactly look like an innocent or kindred spirit. I look like the Infected. Or those things made from the tiny beings known as...Shadow Bugs? I believe. Which I know the Infected are somehow part of a mutated out of hand version of them, or at least slightly related. Anyway..." He recalls seeing a figure of good, that looked kind of like himself that dwells in the Life Sphere and speaks on him.
"I understand there are others that sort of look like me, Game and Watch is it? I've been watching him and his part in the Life Sphere's story very closely as well myself. It did give me some hope that I would be more accepted there." He goes on to get to the point of the evil Vivi down below. Sensing the group may be getting tired of the drawn out explanation. "To get to the meat of it, I still wasn't convinced they would let me into their bubbled world. I felt alone on the planet. But then found this factory and met the one known as Porky. Knowing full well what my magic was capable of, Porky let me into this factory anyway with open arms and showed me all his greatest inventions he had crafted here during The Fall." Vivi points to the Factory up ahead that connected to this cave. His eyes drown in concern.
"However....I knew something was not right with that inventor. There was a coldness in his eyes I can't very much describe right now. But I wanted to believe so bad that he was my friend, that he could help me control my abilities when they get out of hand. He made me believe that anyway." He pauses a moment, thinking back on the day it all went wrong. "When The Fall occurred, it took a toll on everyone. Plaguing us all with fear and a grim future as well as a struggle to get a hold on the disease around us." Vivi sobs his head, fretting with regret. "Porky was trying to find a way to help cure it, or stop it. But it was the wrong way. He used various chemicals he had derived from the planet's core and local water sources; or what was left of those sources, to experiment on cures taking any test subject he could like local wildlife he would find or any willing citizens that landed on the planet as well to give him what he needed for results." Vivi fights a lump in his throat. The next part isn't so pretty.
"I volunteered to help him round up as many creatures as I could for these tests. But...after seeing so many failures, Porky wanted more from me. He started making me bring experiments in by force of stronger calibers; he forced me to coax and persuade citizens and warriors from the Life Sphere out on missions to be his experiments. He needed stronger bodies, bodies filled with magic, and powerful energies and abilities to find stronger batches to fight the Starvia." Vivi is not proud of this. "And when even that wouldn't work, and the Life Sphere Scientists and Police Team started to suspect something, I bowed out before things got any worse and told Porky I was done helping him. I noticed his intentions were growing darker and more crazed and severe at its foundation, no longer trying to make a cure, but instead...something more." Vivi shivered at the thought.
"And he scolded me claiming I didn't want to find a cure and make things better. He demanded more subjects and when I declined to help any longer, he caught me off guard and trapped me using one of his violent machines and the help of several robotic servants. He was crafty with his manipulation and I didn't see it coming soon enough to use my magic." Vivi grips his staff in frustration. "He strapped me to a slab of steel and began experimenting on me personally. It was the most traumatic thing I had ever been through. Even out of all the terrible things I've seen with Zidane, this was the worst. I was helpless." He goes on to explain how Evil Vivi was born. "With his twisted mind, he was able to extract my DNA and combine it with unstable blood samples of Infected and also....bloodwork of other evil monsters it seemed he had saved from his world. Demonic things he would share unfathomable stories of to me while locking me away in his lab. He somehow had these samples on him when he Fell to the world." But even someone like Porky, Vivi still naively believed had good in him.
"This told me that even before he lost his mind to the effects of Starvia fogging his brain, he had insane notions of experimentation and visions only he could truly see as successful breakthroughs. In short, through his poking and prodding of me, that version of me down there..." Vivi points down below where the sounds of battle was occurring. "Is the result of a psychotic lunatic's unpredictable logic." Vivi taps his staff to the ground and squints his eyes in a serious ferociousness. "I was hiding up until now. Afraid that I could never win against that evil thing below. I tried fighting it myself when I had escaped Porky's clutches after that lively group down there destroyed his lab above, but it bested me and I narrowly escaped." Vivi shakes his head still refusing to believe such evil came from him.
"Its power...is nearly double or triple of what I am capable of. I would need serious help to beat it. It's all the hatred and spite within me pent up from years of torment and terrible memories of family trauma and self deprivation." He decides to explain why he didn't jump in to help the others below. "As for why I am not there assisting them below, and hiding like a coward as that battle rages, it is because there is a chest beyond the thralls of this cave where the fighting is taking place, that holds an artifact containing all the magic and power Porky stole from me that helped create that beast. It's my materia...." Vivi throws up one of his hands and an illusion of his materia appears before the group.
"If I get too close, the evil Vivi will sense me and vanish taking that chest with it; no matter how much that fight rages on down there, trust me when I say that version of me is simply toying with those warriors. There is no way it can be defeated without my help. But I can't even get close to fight it as long as it guards that chest. And even worse than that..." Vivi shivers once again thinking of the unimaginable magic power and demonic energy mixed together the creature has and what is can do to anyone in an instant if it really wanted to. "That sinister me; it has dimensional magic abilities. It can mess with time and create rifts of destruction everywhere it goes. It would only take a matter of seconds for it to simply open a portal and pop into the Life Sphere and destroy it from the inside out...BUT..." Vivi adds a light at the end of the tunnel to his rant.
"Because I still exist as the lighter being so to speak, I am suppressing at least some of its destructive abilities....however..." Vivi gives the grim part of this sliver of hope now. "It does not mean it cannot kill me if it truly wanted to. It would nearly sacrifice itself in the process, but if I am destroyed, its power now, as strong as it is, will be nearly limitless without me being around. It does not need me alive to thrive, in fact I am a hindrance to it. Thus the added motive to hide. I don't want such destruction and malice on anyone. Especially not on the Life Sphere." Vivi finishes his thoughts with one more concern.
"Aside from rift magic, and dimensional skills, it can also absorb others energy. That group fighting down there? With every strike they perform its sucking their energy and draining their lives. For now they are matching its power, but they will never truly win. It will fight endlessly if that means it can suck every ounce of their power to help its own. And when its strong enough, it WILL kill me and anything else in its path, and then, the Life Sphere as its final stop. Where it has a juicy feast of energy and essence just waiting to devour." Vivi senses the origins of the time rift the team came from and raises a finger to the air feeling its leftover trails of magic. "From the looks of it and what I can gather sensing figments of time based magic, you all came from the future. Which means, somehow that version of me was bested by that team fighting below. But I am here to tell you..." Vivi corrects that notion immediately.
"Such is not the truth. I myself have dabbled in time and watched that version of myself very closely. Very soon that chaotic experiment of Porky's will disappear along with that chest. If the group gets too close to the chest, it will high tail out of here because along with my Materia, the chest also holds its own weakness; the bane of its existence..." Vivi crafts another illusion to show the group what he speaks of.
"The Crude-Essence." Vivi closes his eyes as he shows this depiction to the group, knowing the challenges ahead to ever even obtain it would be nearly unsurmountable. "Somehow...Porky made it to the Extraction Point and gathered a sample of the original essence that was involved with creating this planet and starting The Fall. And he used it to make this sadistic part of me." Vivi tries not to imagine the worst case scenario.
"My guesstimation is, the warriors down there got too close to the chest's location and it freaked out. Using its rift magic to cause itself and the chest, to dissappear and hide between the annals of time until the group departed making them think it was defeated. Which means, that in YOUR present....this version of me very much still exists and is likely plotting something terrible. It is my hope that when that group departed and I chose not to interfere, I still followed it to watch its intentions closely during that time span. Or I should say this one." Vivi continues to entertain the group with facts dragging on more than he'd like to but knowing this was necessary to explain. He also picks up on something.
"Am I also correct, in saying, that this past is a parallel to the ACTUAL past of this instance happening that you are all visiting? And that you simply need the chest for a far greater and different threat in YOUR future than my crazed clone?" Vivi could feel the truth of this in the body language of the group. He plays off of this feeling. "I see...if you are only here to take that chest and not entirely to defeat that monstrous excuse of a sorcerer, then, I must tell you the third item the chest contains..." Vivi creates a third illusion of the last item the chest holds for all to see.
"The Anti-Essence. The one true good thing out of this whole mess of a situation." Vivi smiles, his eyes widen with a new filled hope. "You see where there is evil there is also good. The Essence Extraction Point had raw, dark and beyond measurable and incomprehensible energy. But there is another place where pure, light energy exists..." Vivi points up and paints the picture as vividly as he could where he found this item.
"Porky needed pure energy as well to get the results he wanted. And on an infested planet I didn't know where to even begin looking for such a thing. So....I told myself maybe it's not on this planet at all." Vivi blows their minds. "The stars, my friends." Vivi wonders if the group was following along, and keeps going despite the thought. "How is this possible you ask? Using every ounce of energy I had in me, I engulfed myself in a forcefield of ancient protection magic and propelled myself into space. Thinking that I could find such things far, far away from here. I however was not strong enough to go any farther than just grazing this planet's atmosphere, but there it was....floating with the stars just above the atmosphere, a whole nova of pure energy...." Vivi is suddenly filled with excitement.
"About to find myself fainting and in for a horrible plummet back down at any moment with my magic failing me, I managed to reach a hand out through the atmospheric field of the planet, and gathered a single crystal of this strange pure essence and returned to the factory landing as safely as I could back to Li, giving Porky the sample. Knowing I could never do such a thing ever again." Vivi was thankful, however, that it was safe and sound in that chest.
"Just like that, I gave away the one thing that could help destroy the Infected on this planet for good. Knowing full well what it was capable of, even Porky locked it away not wishing to mess with its contents and seeing the negative effects it was having on the grandeur and corrupted power of that dark version of me; or I should say, positive effects. And ofcourse he wouldn't dare use it on me, I gravitated to that energy as if I was a suckling babe. I could feel its immense pull and unthinkable potential it could have on this world and the battle against Starvia. It was faith incarnate." Vivi was finally done with his story. His very...long...story.
"Enough of all that. I do believe we've just spent a solid chunk of time going down memory lane yes? As necessary and informative as this all was....the most important thing to remember is, every single artifact in that chest are essential to staving off the Starvia. And this is why you're here. I know it. A greater danger in your future has arrived and the Starvia has escalated to new heights....how the Anti-Essence and the Crude-Essence came to be is still uncertain, but we do know, your future, our future, depends on you all getting your hands on these things. And yet, the threat here is still just as real as it was in your past." Vivi rubs his chin in thought, and decides to make a compromise.
"I will tell you what. I'll assist to ensure you get that chest....but you must promise me to wait until that team of the past sees the battle through. There will be a small window of time where the evil me will vanish and the team below will begin to depart. THAT is when it will use its rift magic to trick the team of its defeat and the chest will be briefly vulnerable and show itself out of the rift. I can distract it as long as I can while you all retrieve the chest." Vivi adds the consequence to that.
"Sadly, however, when I do this, it will likely mean my demise. I will be sacrificing myself for you all to retrieve that treasure. The very important treasure. The other promise I need you all to make is...." This next part is hard for ViVi to say. "Please, find Zidane and my friends if you can around the Life Sphere, if they're there...and tell them I miss them so. And I am sorry for being such a coward. If we can promise these things...I will help you ensure the chest is yours." Vivi looks to Cloud, as if seeing a familiar face and knowing him from a different time and asks for his support.
"Cloud, is it? I've heard tales of you. I am sure you're familiar with Materia and the things I speak of at least in some capacity no? I do believe you may be the only one besides me who can open that chest, as it only opens and reacts to Materia magic of a pure heart. And I sense your materia is incredibly strong, young one." Vivi puts a hand to Cloud's heart and nods. Then releases it and addresses the team again. "So...what is your decision?" Vivi waits for the team's answer after his epically drawn out explanation of things to soon put fate in motion.
Madotsuki watched as a figure soon appeared to the group. Luckily it seems her neon attack didn't hit him and he appeared to be good. I mean, he wasn't trying to kill the group, so he must be good. As he explained that he was a good version of Vivi, Madotsuki stopped glowing as he told the group that they wouldn't find anything if they go upwards into the Factory, as there was nothing left. "I don't know what Vivi looks like, but since you're not trying to kill us, then I'll take your word for it. For now, cross a line and you'll be the one that's dead." Madotsuki warned to Good!Vivi. Although she should of held her tounge, given what the good Vivi said soon after.
Madotsuki decided to sit down and listen to Vivi's story of how he worked for Porky and got experimented on for him when he started to lose his sanity from the Starvia. It was okay though.
They had all the time in the world...
But, this would give them a good time for them to let time pass and for the group fighting below them to end the battle soon. But as good Vivi explained, even if they did finish the battle with his evil counterpart, it still wouldn't kill him, he would be merely defeated, then show a group a mirage before leaving with what they were coming for.
The chest, more so, if they showed up then and now, then evil Vivi would escape with the chest, and their quest for it would end in failure, unless they can somehow work the time necklaces so they can just, come back to this current point in time and try again, luckily. It seems as though good Vivi had a plan.
Although, it would come for a price, his life, if the plan is a success.
But given the contents in the chest. Madotsuki knew that they can't waste this opportunity with taken the chest. "So... What you're basically saying is that chest can not only help us in the future, but it basically has a cure for the starvia inside too and there's more of that anti essence stuff up in Space?" Madotsuki asked to Vivi.
She did, sort of feel bad for Vivi about how he was scared to join the Life Sphere, given his powers, and how he turned towards Porky because he welcomed him with open arms. "Look, don't say stuff about yourself like that. It will never help your confidence if you don't believe in yourself. I know this is probably something that stupid Hedgehog Sonic would say, but you're a good person, especially since that pig kid split you in half, sorry to bring that up by the way but, you're a good hero. You told us about the contents in our chest, and you're willing to help us complete our goal into saving our future and actually making it a better one. Even this place, will eventually get better and it was because of you helping us by getting that chest we need." Wow, that was the longest speech Madotsuki had done that didn't involve threats of torture or death to her enemies.
She was good at these kinds of things.
"By the way, yes, our future is in trouble. The starvia has entered the Life Sphere and we need different items from different points in time before it's too late and we become super monsters like the kind of ones that I see in the dream world. We're not the only group that's gone back in time. There's multiple other groups, the items we need are in that chest that your evil twin is guarding." Madotsuki felt as though it was alright to tell the mission to this version of Vivi, given his powers, she felt as though this won't cause a time paradox.
It will likely cause it, if the group go down now to try and get the chest while the group that's fighting evil!Vivi is still down there, the good Vivi said that he can help distract the evil version of him.
Only... That's when the part where a life is taken comes in. He'll likely die if he does so, something of which Madotsuki is unsure about, even if it means the group will be able to steal the chest.
"But you just said that if you die, your evil self will become powerful. Even if we get what we need then we'll have to deal with some evil god which, for all we know, could snap half of the population of Li with a single finger snap." Madotsuki felt as though there should be a better way with distracting evil Vivi without causing good Vivi to die, she turned towards everyone else in the group.
"I can't come up with an alternate plan that doesn't involve any of us dying, so what do you three supposed we should do with getting the chest, without killing him?" Madotsuki pointed towards the Good Vivi.
"I want a good conclusion to this time travel mission and not a BITTER sweet one." She added. Madotsuki: 170/170 Bubble Shield: 60/60
While Dimentio did not like the oh-so-serious nature of Cloud. He did quite enjoy the cut of Dark Witch's jib. Especially how the little girl is quick to shoot first and not ask questions later. This gang has more colorful characters besides him. Otherwise, it would be a dull day on the job. And it seems the excitement doesn't start there as it seems they came across the plot twist of the century.
Seems Vivi was split into two halves, one good and the crazy psycho that is having a hissy fit down below. All because of this one called Porky that seems to be working on something Starvia based that interests Dimentio, perhaps something to look more into for the future. Not as interesting as the contents of the chest of course. Though this Anti Essence could prove a dent to his plans, he at least now knows about it to figure a way around it before he ever crosses that bridge. Unfortunately, it seems that he won't be able to take the contents himself as Cloud is apparently the only one who can open it, of course, the spiky-haired pretty boy gets to take the good stuff.
Though of course there was one big paradoxical element in the room.
"The girl is right to bring up how this Dark Vivi would become more dangerous if you were to die. After all not only would let it become all-powerful but taking the contents of the chest would doom this world for sure. A real moral quandary isn't it? Dooming one timeline to preserve ours. However, who's to say that ours wouldn't still be doomed? Cause this more powerful Evilvi could just pop into our timeline if it so wished and we would be dealing with two of them in our timeline. " Dimentio explained with the dramatic flair of a stage actor.
Though turns around with a twirl smiling at his cohorts.
"But luckily you brought me along, the Master of Dimensions. When that rift opens I can teleport to that chest and bring it over to Cloud to open it before it is sent through the rift once more. I'll even try to counteract Evilvi's dimensional magic with my own if it comes down to it. Unfortunately, even if that is not enough you may have to play the martyr after all. Tragic I know," Dimentio said.
He frowned for a bit when saying that last part, though is immediately back to smiling as he has more to his plan.
"But like the dark clouds hovering above there is a silver lining of sunshine-filled hope between them like you were talking about earlier. Perhaps with the help of the artifacts from this time, we can get the chest from our timeline as well as bring our version of you back to the Life Sphere safe and sound. Then we can return the contents of this time into the hands of this time's Life Sphere to ensure a good future for them. That sounds like the best course of action does it not?" Dimentio said.
Surely they would recognize his genius after this.

"I'm sorry I'm not some sort of super-mage." Cloud sarcastically apologized towards Dark Witch's remark with a one-arm shrug. Of course, the brief moment quickly gave way to the introduction of whoever was spying on them...with a bright light and some ringing on his ears. The brief light show gave way to...a small figure, dressed in mage clothing. Cloud raised an inquisitive eyebrow at the little fellow as it waved hello to them, and quickly told them not to go upstairs.
"Vivi..." Cloud parrots the name as the mage revealed it. He heard a couple of things about someone called 'Vivi' opposing the forces of the Life Sphere, though before the ex-SOLDIER could go for an interrogation, Vivi offers a response to the question Cloud never vocally asked: he was the one and the same Vivi...or rather, his 'good' half. The 'evil' half was the one the heroes of the past were fighting down there, and the one who was opposing the Life Sphere.
The little mage then went for a long-winded explanation of how this came to be: how Vivi's fear of rejection crippled him enough so that he didn't set foot on the domed safe haven, how his loneliness made him trust a maniac inventor who was certain to backstab him, and how his misplaced trust resulted in disillusionment...and unwilling experimentation. That last part in particular...it struck a chord with Cloud, not that his stoic front would show it much. "Look, kid. I can't say I've been in your shoes before, but I can tell you that you overthought the Life Sphere not accepting you thing. Sure, there's the occasional asshole here and there, but most of the time people are inviting. I'm pretty sure someone would try to help you with your power issues too." Cloud stated.
With the pep talk out of the way, Vivi decided to give them info about his darker self. Apparently Evil Vivi was so powerful, the 'good' half needed help to take him down - which was a bit worrisome, considering how powerful Good Vivi felt - and he safeguarded the chest they sought.
As for the chest itself, it contained Vivi's special materia, which...was probably the reason Evil Vivi could detect Good Vivi and warp with that chest if he came too close. Then there was the Crude Essence, apparently the evil half's 'bane of existence', and finally, the item they needed for their future...Anti-Essence.
"...Wow, that was just a guess?" Cloud asked, looking actually kind of surprised Vivi managed to guess what they were trying to do. Madotsuki already went into details over what they needed to do, so he didn't comment any further.
Long-winded exposition time was over, and now Vivi had a plan to grab the chest. Wait until the heroes of the past dealt with Evil Vivi, and during the moment where the evil twin tries to go away, Good Vivi would open a gate towards the chest, allowing them to snag it. The only problem with this is that would cost Vivi's life, and that was an immediate no-go on Cloud's book. But still...how could they avoid that fate?
His train of thought in interrupted as Vivi addresses him specifically. "...Yeah. I have a couple of them with me." Cloud replied to Vivi, showing the materia on his Buster Sword as a demonstration. That's when the small mage drops a twist that he never saw coming: apparently, he was the only one would could open the chest, because it could only react to materia magic of a...pure heart. "...hwat?" Cloud Strife, ex-SOLDIER, 1st Class, looked stupefied at this revelation. Him? A pure heart? How??
The shock lasted for a couple more seconds before he snapped out of it, as he heard Dimentio tailor a plan that wouldn't require Vivi to die. "...unless no one else has a different plan, then this is probably the best option we got." The part about 'returning the chest back to its original time period' had more holes than swiss cheese, but if they have at least a chance of getting Vivi out of this alive, he'll take it. "If we go through this, you better put your back into it." Cloud warned Dimentio.

Oooh ffff-- ...Dark Witch could feel her brain beginning to boil and her mind beginning to slip as a tsunami of exposition washed over her. She just kind of zombied out for a bit and passively absorbs what she can with her limited attention span, her head rolling back slightly in an aloof fashion. It also took her a bit to recover after Vivi was finished, lightly tapping the side of her head with a free hand and fixing her hat as she regained her composure and resumed being aware of the world around them.
“...I feel like I'm going to hate myself for asking this, but when you talk about the world's creation... do you mean its original birth before any of you outsiders arrived here, or the Neo Genesis Event that turned it into the aberrant, dying rock we all know and 'love'?”
“Anyway, whatever works, I guess. Just let me know what needs breaking or enchanting. I'd hate to let you all have all the fun~”
Vivi listened intently as the group rallied together to come up with an alternate solution to snatch the chest; one that involved a fellow dimensional magic user named Dimentio and a plan that involved saving Vivi's life which was generally an agreed plan except for the Dark Witch, she was just heartless and mean. At least in Vivi's eyes. He didn't blame her, however. It was a dark world and a horrible scenario they were all in. No matter which way the chest was to be retrieved, both ways involved extreme danger. Vivi shared his own opinion on the additional method of retrieval with some concern.
"Though I appreciate the thought of a different way for retrieval of the hardware, there is no guarantee that evil me wouldn't be clever enough to catch Dimentio in the act and stop them from taking the chest to cloud, even potentially seeing such a thing coming since they mess with time, and likely set some traps to prevent thieves." Vivi sighs, still calculating in his tiny yet mighty brain any other possible way to defeat Evil Vivi without sacrificing himself. Though Dimentio's idea was grand on paper, it wouldn't stop the inevitable. "And after the chest is gone and you all leave from here, that evil monstrosity will still likely kill me even without the crude essence to help sky rocket its abilities. As long as the Crude Essence is in tact; even in a different time paradox, this evil me can still draw from its power at a distance, and even worse....pinpoint in time where that chest goes no matter what. Past, present, or future. Giving it the ability to instantly transport to the Life Sphere where the chest would go and wreak havoc. Or at least, the Evil Vivi from YOUR time stream. They will still be alive and with that chest there, will sense it immediately and try and invade. It is tied to that chest just like me. And yet, that chest contains all the hope for humanity to combat the ever evolving Starvia pandemic. What a pickle, I must confess." Vivi continues his thoughts to see if in his rambling something intelligent will actually come out to help provide a third option.
He looks at the team that has come to assist, seeing a fire and a passion in the eyes of each one of them; even if they all were not exactly the purest hearts, they had the right intentions in the moment. He didn't want to see their Life Sphere and their people in their time stream suffer. He would die so the greater good can live. Yet they wanted to save the poor wizard. Just then, sensing all their energies and auras, Vivi strikes an idea. "But, perhaps..." Vivi then raises his staff and a flash of light erupts the area. Suddenly the team could look at each other and see their auras and magic energy with their own eyes. Vivi looks at each team member's magical energy exuding from them with this technique and grins under the guise of his jacket collar.
"Maybe we would be out of luck trying to take that chest away without killing me, but....with the help of all of your immense magical power that I see now with this nifty spell I just cast, we wouldn't be able to take the chest per say, not right away, but we can take Evil Vivi instead." Vivi analyzed the group's reaction to see if they were following. "It's an old trick room spell that takes some time to cast, and it will take all of our magic combined....but I can warp Evil Vivi into a place called the chronos dimension....a pocket of time that does not have a past or a future...kind of like purgatory as it were....they would be stuck there forever..." There was a consequence and a challenge to this idea, ofcourse.
"The BUT here is...however, that you will need to fight Evil Vivi....as long as you can." There was the catch, Vivi didn't like saying it, but he did because if done right, he knows it would work. High risk high reward. "This aura spell I just cast on all of you, it will negate Evil Vivi's effects of sapping and draining you of your magic, instead it will do the exact opposite. It will amplify your magic with each hit that evil abomination lands on you. So...you will need to get beat up a bit. Sadly it won't sap THEIR magic, because if I did that, it would sap mine too and I would be no use crafting this alternate space of time with zero mana." Basically the team needed to endure a serious whooping.
"I know it sounds dangerous, but trust and believe I wouldn't let any of you die. The moment I see evil me do enough of a number on you, I will cast the Chronos Cramia spell; which will seal Evil Vivi into that space the moment the chest shows itself with the other catch too ofcourse besides buying me time to begin the casting and absorbing all that amplified magic you gained during the fight to use my spell, that this will have an unknown effect on the Evil Vivi in YOUR timeline. I don't know whether or not the me in your time stream would have trapped them too. I would think not considering the way you're doing things won't alter the present, but who knows...that being can use time magic. Let's just hope not." After explaining the high risk and consequences, Vivi goes on to explain the light at the end of the tunnel and the positives.
"But the good news is, you can wail on Evil Vivi as much as you'd like and as long as you can take it until my spell is ready, amplifying your magic overtime and attacks to insane levels towards the end of the fight. Just let yourself get hit a bit, but not so much that you are all at death's door. I won't let that happen. The chest will appear as predicted when Evil Vivi starts getting exhausted in the fight, and it lets its guard down. The moment it is distracted trying to control the rift magic around the chest, that's when I will counter the spell with Chronos Cramia and seal him away forever. Then...the chest is yours. And I will live to hopefully fight another day in this timeline." Vivi finishes his point with when the right time to strike is.
"Just remember, you'll all be pretty badly roughed up after this is executed as well as have your magic drained. But I will happily heal your wounds later. Additionally, we have to ensure all the fighters from this timeline are out of this cave and let them play out the battle with Evil Vivi. When they exit after the evil me vanishes, it will reappear and try to escape the cave to find a new domain, that's when we strike and it gets a round 2 from the Life Sphere's finest. Is that understood and all gravy?" As Vivi says this the fight continues down below and more battle cries and explosions can be heard.
"How is it still alive!? My chaos spear did nothing. It just got stronger! Impossible. AIM, aim your laser at its most injured point. Zero, keep up the distance flanking. Quote, attack it from behind I'll keep being the frontal assault and distract! This bastard won't quit!" Vivi hears the one known as Shadow The Hedgehog fighting below, and flashes a satisfied smirk. "A pity, that all their hard efforts would not be its downfall. Yet, this was an important stepping stone for better things to come..." Vivi waits for the group's answer on what to do next. "Resisting the urge to jump in and help them is key here. But when they're done. I suggest we execute immediately." He didn't take the team in front of him as an incompetent bunch, but he's been fooled before.
Speaking of fooled.....
Two figures jump down from one of the higher ridges above the group and land in front of them all blocking their path. Vivi steps back in panic. Oh no....they found me. But how!? The blonde haired one with the fancy trench coat and quite a pointy gun and blade combo weapon points it at the good Vivi and scowls. "There you are you annoying little troll. The Master is growing impatient. We finally found you. Now, your head will be on their trophy wall." The blonde one walks towards Vivi but the team is blocking his path. His comrade, a brown haired warrior dawning black leather clothes and the Starvia Virus, violently draws his sword against them with a villainous wince. The blonde figure speaks again. "You all either get out of our way or die. Make a choice. I don't care about you lot. I care about that cowardly pile of trash behind you. And not in the loving way either. He belongs to us. So move. The name's Seifer. And this is Squall. And we got shit to do." They would either listen, or see what happens when they disobey.
Mana: ? ? ?
Squall Leonheart (KH Infected)
Mana: ? ? ?
I must have talked so long while I was out of hiding that it gave them enough time to trace me. Drats...I hope the team doesn't scold me for having stalkers. Vivi kept his thoughts to himself and managed to blurt out only a general explanation to the team. "They work for Porky. And Evil Vivi. They want me dead. That's about all I can tell you." Vivi figured that would be enough to explain the current intrusion. Now it was up to the team as a whole to finish them off quickly so they can get the chest and execute the plan before the team from this timeline makes Evil Vivi vanish. Seifer adds another comment in that moment. "You make it sound like we work for such harsh sides there slugger. You better watch your mouth before we slice it shut. You think you could creep around in the shadows and your fancy cloak spells forever? I bet you're trying to manipulate these time traveling ninnies to do your bidding aren't you? Have you even told them your real motives?" Seifer was adding some extra information that would easily cause suspicion for those nearby.
"That's right. I know you're all visiting from another time stream. There's plenty of eyes around here that can pick up on that stuff. Me and Squall, we're just doing what we're told. But before you take a swing at us, you should know that little twerp isn't telling you the whole story." Seifer points his blade at Vivi and takes another step closer to him. Vivi tries to stave off his intentions. "Don't listen to him! He's lying. The plan I've told you. It's the truth. It'll work to get what you need I swear." Vivi was trying to save face. But now, finding out who was telling the real truth especially in a time sensitive moment like this, could be rough. Intuition may be the way to go here. The heart and the gut feelings, could be a saving grace for the next steps.
"We know you want that chest. Maybe we can negotiate that later with The Master. But, whatever choice you all make, against us or not, we're taking that tiny runt. Period. Step aside if you're smart and we won't hurt you then maybe we can talk once that insufferable bag of crap is in our custody." Seifer starts advancing to Vivi and Infected Squall advances with him; slightly ahead in a counter stance as they move in case the team tries to attack. "No, please! Don't listen to them. I'll explain later please don't let them come near me." Vivi was adamant with his words and his voice was trembling. These were some seriously aggressive people with completely different intentions. Whose to be trusted? Better act fast.
((A perception Roll of 20 is required to get the real truth out of Vivi. Only one roll is allowed per character in this mission to get a 20. If the roll fails, Vivi will stay quiet and a choice must be made to attack the intruders or let them take Vivi and take their counter offer to negotiate the chest. If the roll succeeds, Vivi will tell the whole truth and the choice of whose side to take must still be made.))

"Hm, the Evilvi is more dangerous than we thought if it's able to see through our plan before we get there. Then how are we supposed to get the element of surprise on them? Wait a minute, didn't that Dark Witch girl said something about enchanting?" Dimentio thought.
"You said you can enchant things correct Dark Witch? Perhaps our combined efforts will be enough? Cause if not I can't think of any other option." Dimentio said.
Though it seems Vivi has another plan, with another exposition-filled explanation. As he looked at the magical aura that now covered him. Vivi explained that they have to let themselves be hit by Evilvi to absorb the magical attacks and then once they got enough Vivi can then perform a spell to seal Evilvi away forever into a dimension without time.
"While I am not a fan of being a bullet sponge, if this allows us to get our hands on that chest I don't care either way. It would be boring otherwise if it were so easy." Dimentio said.
He then turns to see a couple of handsome pretty boys, one of them seems to be infected and talking about their "master". Telling them that Vivi has ulterior motives for helping them and that they came to capture them.
"And why should we be so inclined to believe you while you are next to one who is obviously infected that if I could roll my eyes any farther they would fall out from spinning so much?" Dimentio asked.
Though he's not a fool, even if he is dressed like one. He looked carefully at Vivi trying to see if there was any tell that there could be more to what he let on.
Dimentio then floated closer to Vivi.
"My my you seem quite nervous my dear lad almost as if they are telling the truth. You wouldn't have left something out important that you know we wouldn't agree to your new proposal had you included it did you?" Dimentio asked.
He then held a starburst/magical shuriken on his fingertip as he had it very close to Vivi's face.
"Cause I am afraid if you had if you think you could try to outwit me and us me as a pawn in whatever game you were trying to play," Dimentio said.
Dimentio then got up close to Vivi's face and whispered "Whatever they would do to you pales in comparison to what I would do."1d20+3
Madotsuki just glared at Dark Witch when she asked that question to Vivi, but other then that, she was ready to head down into the cave once the fight is over to fight Evil Vivi in order to get that chest. But before she left, Vivi said a few more things which Madotsuki listened too, seeing as how the group still have time until the battle below them is finished. She's willing to listen, such as the fact that the group need to get hit by Evil Vivi in order for the plan to work, he also cast a spell on Madotsuki and the group that would cause them to glow.
Madotsuki looked at herself, but continued to listen as it's explained that only Cloud can open the chest.
"Wait, only he can open it because he has a pure heart? Don't we all have a pure heart?" Madotsuki was pure. She pushed a girl down a flight of stairs because she was standing in her way while carrying something heavy. If that girl continued to stand in Madotsuki's way, then she would of dropped and broken the item in question and got a bad grade that day.
The flight in stairs in question was very long, to the point that the girl had to go to the Hospital after that.
However, Madotsuki was surprised by the arrival of two men, one of whom was clearly infected by the Starvia and was referring to someone called "The Master" Which is never a heroic nickname, so Madotsuki was already weary, more so when the reason they were here was to collect Vivi, causing her to take out her knife and aim at Seifer.
"We need him more then you scum in a coat." Madotsuki said, she inched her knife closer when Squall and Seifer took another step near the group.
However, it was clear by now that Vivi was hiding something from the group, which Dimentio threatened him for. Madotsuki didn't object to this, she did however, object to Seifer and Squall trying to kidnap someone that they need to complete this mission.
"If this master's name is Porky then I suggest you turn around now, or you'll regret it. Although he's likely not going to listen, and I don't care." Madotsuki referred to Squall.
"If you take another step then I'm going to make sure the next pain you'll feel is a sharp pain coming from your chest." As Madotsuki threatened the two men, she quickly turned over towards Dimentio and Vivi.
"And what are you hiding from us, I'm not going to listen to these two jerks here, but it's clear that you're hiding something from us, so what was it?" Madotsuki wasn't going to threaten Vivi, seeing as how Dimentio has already done that for her. Madotsuki: 170/170 Bubble Shield: 60/60

Cloud mentally braced himself for another long-winded exposition as Vivi started talking. If the first time was anything to go by, this kid was two chatterboxes melded together. Still, least he could do is be attentive...
So, the initial plan about bringing the chest to their time period had more holes than just the part Cloud had thought of - Evil Vivi could sense the Crude Essence and either follow them into the timestream, or that would attract their Evil Vivi. So no dice there. Dimentio threw an idea there, but it was quickly thrown to the wayside as Vivi had an alternate plan.
Cloud would find himself imbued with strange magic - apparently something to nullify and revert Evil Vivi's draining effects. Vivi's idea was to actually confront Evil Vivi, though now that they had countermeasures to problems they had before, they could actually deal with the the mage's evil half and seal it. "...Works for me." Cloud said simply.
With the whole deal seemingly explained, Vivi urged them to get a move on. "We stood here long enough, let's--" Cloud said, before he's cut off by the arrival of two figures, and precisely zero of them seemed the friendly sort. Immediately, the former SOLDIER was on guard, assuming his combat stance.
And that's where things got...complicated. The two men - Seifer and Squall, were apparently their names - suddenly pointed fingers at Vivi, saying that he was hiding his true motives. The little mage tried to deflect it, but...by this point, there's doubt all around the team. Seifer then offered to negotiate for that chest once they took Vivi to their Master. While Madotsuki and the clown tried to drill Vivi for answers, Cloud focused on the two arrivals.
"Making a deal with a man allied with an Infected. I don't see how this can't go south." Cloud retorted sarcastically. "You're not taking Vivi anywhere. Not until I hear the full story from him..." he said with a serious tone, turning to glance at Vivi. "...and what you're planning." he continued, his full attention now on Seifer. "Try anything funny and this'll cost you more than an arm and a leg. Literally."

Dark Witch quirked a brow. Did this guy have any idea what pools of power she had access to? Ah well. It wasn't like she wanted to call in a favor to her master anyway. Asking for too much would get her killed. As Vivi continued explaining their plan, she found herself a bit ... unimpressed, which was reflected in the very overt distaste in her tone.
“...If you're going to come up with these wild schemes that involve me letting you or your evil double have their way with me, the least you could do is buy me a few drinks first so I don't have to remember it later.”
She then removed her hat, jostling it a bit before a cauldron that looked considerably larger than the hat it appeared to have been inside dropped out, landing with a small thud. A few moments and a spell cast later, and it was full of a base liquid and a magical fire had erupted underneath it. “Speaking of which, I'm brewing some 'drinks'. They're a convenient way to store enchantments for later. If you have any requests, now is a good time.”
At the entrance of two new figures and an unspoken secret, Dark Witch appeared unamused.
“...An infected traveling with a human. Ooo, we're in deep.”
