It was a lovely day in the Life Sphere. The artificial sun was shining, the anthropomorphic birds were singing in their barbershop quartet, and a certain Half-Genie hero was sitting around and reading a book, unawares of the dangers fast approaching. For not even moments earlier, in what externally looked like a random stranger having a pleasant conversation, Nobody had discovered his mark. If he was going to start rebuilding his rep and getting higher end jobs in this new place, he had to build a new rapport as a "gun for hire" so to speak. Bounty-hunting was normally beneath him, but considering it was posted in the black market and not by the police, he'd decided to just consider the task as a "first-come, first-served" mercenary job.
It helped that apparently it paid well.
He'd gotten a look at the genie up close, and even their small exchange had implied some crucial details. Mainly, that the girl was indeed in possession of some form of magic. "Never was a fan of the stuff." Nobody would mutter to himself as he deftly scaled the side of a building not even a block away from where he'd left the half-genie hero. Weaving between safety rails and bouncing from wall to wall with the deftness of a monkey, the youth soon found himself perched at a nice vantage point. "Welp, guess I'm on the clock now. Work clothes, activate." The mercenary shrugged off his coat and shirt with expert speed, revealing the more tight-fitting and black outfit underneath. A black mask withdrew from his pocket to snugly fit over and obscure the bottom half of his face, making the outfit complete.
"Time to make the donuts." He calmly announced before taking a step off of the building, and falling head-first down towards his mark.
"ZYU!" The Rider System announced with an aggressive shout as Nobody withdrew the gun form of his weapon from seemingly nowhere; letting loose a salvo of concussive blaster fire with no warning, while rapidly descending towards Shantae.

Shantae's ears would twitch slightly, signalling her to immediate danger that was fast approaching from above and that was also when she took the initiative and tried to dodge the sudden laser bullet fired at her... DEX ROLL: wOm8dNhep_1d20+1(Nice try, Nobody!)
"That was a little too easy for me because of my ears being visible and good for hearing that ambush. Too bad the element of surprise didn't work out for you, otherwise that would have been a very successful ambush." Shantae said as she instantly took notice of Nobody, then stretched so she could be ready for combat...
Then almost immediately, fired off a fireball to attempt to scorch her assailant... Which won't even hit because of its pretty low accuracy... WIS ROLL A: p_1d20+1(That Fireball is stale! 5% dmg and 100% burn chance if it connects)
This didn't deter the Half-Genie as her magic was gathering steam and something was being held in reserve for a last resort, she would at the very least try again with the fireball... WIS ROLL B: p_1d20+1(slightly better, but still bad... ^)
That second fireball was just as bad as the last one, just slightly better, ditching the fireballs, Shantae would try a combo with her Magic Bullet to see if it could be a bit better than those fireballs... WIS ROLL C: p_1d20+1(Magic Bullet @ Nobody, 5% dmg and 10% paralysis chance if it connects) WIS ROLL D: p_1d20+1(^) WIS ROLL E: p_1d20+1(^) Shantae; the Half-Genie Hero HP: 130/130 Shield: 40/40 Status: fighting for her life...1d20+1·1d20+1·1d20+1·1d20+1·1d20+1·1d20+1

"Tch." The merc clicked his tongue in annoyance as the surprise attack was easily evaded. So there was more to this bookworm than met the eye? Sure it was irritating that he hadn't been able to do the job one and done...
But Nobody could feel a grin widening underneath his mask as he effortlessly spun about, rolling onto his feet after impacting the ground to fluidly weave between the Genie's blasts of magical fire. "Now this is what I'm talking about!" He excitedly cheered, flipping the blaster in his hand before re-engaging his pursuit of Shantae. As the girl prepped her next magical attack, her assailant was keen on not leaving her much time to breathe or think.
Despite his fluid and agile movements, it was impossible to completely mitigate damage at this range. The first of Shantae's bullets of magic clipped Nobody's shoulder, eliciting a slight wince... but that's all it would get. Like a possessed shadow in the evening light, he would slip by the next two attacks, speeding down the Brightwing lane and once again closing the space between him and the Half-Genie hero. "So you're supposed to be a genie, right?" While his words came out almost comically casual, the assailant's actions were far from it.
He snaked his pathing around Shantae, running at and kicking off of the side of a parallel building window before unloading another two charges of concussive dimensional energy from his blaster weapon. As he continued to dexterously flit back and forth, of course his quippy dialogue continued. "Is this a '3 wishes' sort of deal, or more of a 'catch a leprechaun and take their gold' situation?" The constant quipping was annoying, sure, but these words in particular would be particularly unbearable as they met Shantae's ears; boring into her mind like a drill to disrupt the half-genie hero's very thoughts!
"You don't look short and beardy; but, I've been told judging on appearances is 'not very woke'."
