Backstory:Racial Wiki
Lumas are a celestial race sent directly from the stars. As to if their kind are true stars now animated or if they are the children of stars themselves the Lumas keep close to themselves, and the only outsider who knows the secret is their acclaimed mother, Rosalina. Rosalina, princess of the galaxy, had once belonged to a race of humans, and after finding a Luma who had lost its mother, Rosalina bravely helped the Luma back to the heavens, coming with to further the search for the star’s mother. When supplies for the human had run out, the Luma, along with others who had flocked to the odd spacecraft holding a human and a Luma together, offered Rosalina star bits, the immortal food of the skies. From that point on, all Lumas revered Rosalina as their adoptive mother, and she vowed that she would mother and care for them all as her own children, making her abode in the skies and creating a paradise for all Lumas, irrevocably under her protection.
Sapphire grew up listening to this story during Rosalina’s bedtime readings alongside other young Lumas. Unfortunately, she had not been old enough to claim that she had participated in the great tale, but was more than happy to listen with wide eyes and a sense of awe and curiosity as she watched her mother’s diamond blue eyes smile with their own accord. However, she had been present when the great Koopa King, the lovely pink princess, the funny man in red and the even funnier man in green met her mama, and had helped to save the starship from certain destruction. She remembered watching from the star nursery, the matured Lumas plunge into the black hole that had threatened the destruction of the universe, their sparkling tails trailing behind with etherial beauty. The witnessing of the new universe awoke a sense of unsatisfiable awe and curiosity from Sapphire. How she wanted to explore and play in the bountiful new world, a world in which she could now see and sense the presence of every Luma who had fallen in order to raise this new world. When she finally matured, the universe had reached its completion, and Sapphire was a blossoming age of 374,572 years, ready to go out on her own and explore.
She quickly became renowned as a free spirited individual; curious and explorative. Indeed, she interacted with many races, learned customs, partook neutral roles in some historical events, and learned everything that she could while she was at it. Magic was a subject that Sapphire excelled in, and she especially loved the art of healing through music and meditation. She became an avid supporter of the arts and learned to sing, speak, and perform aerial dance. Of course, one is familiar with the phrase of “Curiosity killed the Cat”. However, even in misfortune, Sapphire will brightly laugh and respond with a jovial and assuring “But Satisfaction brought it back”!
Appearance:
Sapphire Luma is surprisingly small for her kind, only barely scraping 8” and weighing a minuscule 4 pounds. Like all Lumas, Sapphire is shaped roughly like a cartoon star, with five points and a round, puffy ‘belly’ which, unlike common rationale, does not signify obesity or unhealthiness. She possesses small black eyes with a signature, youthful glitter to them, twinkling like a pair of identical black diamonds. Sapphire appears to be a younger specimen, for a Luma, and she certainly acts the part, cheerfully twittering and chirruping like a sparrow as she flies around, dizzying individuals that pique her curiosity. An aura of royal blue light surrounds her at all times, causing her to serve as a sort of peculiar, bioluminescent light source whenever she finds herself in a dark or shadowy area.
Possessing no mouth or nose, like the rest of her race, Sapphire is unable to speak like creatures with mouths, instead relying on the light purring vibrations that she exudes; a vibration at a frequency which acts as a form of advanced telepathy in the minds of most sentient creatures. Her ‘voice’ is that of a young, female coloratura soprano, hence her preferred name— Sapphire— and pronouns “She” and “Her” as opposed to the traditional “They”, “Them”, and “It”. She speaks in a light, cheerful voice with a warble something akin to laughter, and is never without an optimistic quip or remark. That is not to say that she cannot take a situation seriously; indeed, in cases such as dire straits, she can become a fierce protector as her voice loses its typically childish appeal.
History On Li:
When all the worlds had been violently jostled and jerked in and out of proportion again, Sapphire had been traveling through individual galaxies, utilize the Launcher system to go from place to place. Often, she would tag along with another companion, usually another wandering soul like herself, but at that point in time, she found herself very alone, looking at the stars that she shot by and cheerfully humming to herself songs and melodies that passed through her mind at that exact moment.
So she was completely unprepared for the wormhole that suddenly opened itself directly in front of her, giving her no time to react before she flew through with no hope of escape. Hurtling though space, Sapphire suddenly found herself in a galaxy completely different than any that she had ever seen before. It appeared to be a mishmash of worlds; from the ones that she was familiar with, to ones that she had heard of in rumors, and yet others that she could not even begin to dream up. A new world, a new exploration, a new chance to discover something strange and interesting.
As she floated down to earth to look about, however, what were the first beings that she should come in contact with than the Infected themselves? Sapphire would learn this later, but she had, in fact, first made contact with Li directly over the Extraction Point, an area overflowing with those afflicted with the Starvia disease, and she had been lucky enough to remember certain skills that she had picked up from her travels in order to escape the vicious horde and escape to a safer land. It didn’t take long for her to find the Life Sphere, the one area in the world that appeared to Emirates some sort of warming glow and life. Sapphire quickly surrounded herself with people, eager to learn customs, languages, and knowledge of the creatures which had pursued her all the way to the Life Sphere.
Acclimating quickly to her new environment and the lifestyle that it entailed, Sapphire sought out any and all ways that she could be of assistance in ensuring that the Life Sphere remain safe and protected. In the end, she found her call as an ambassador between different factions, gang compromises, and even inter-regional pursuits; her bubbly nature, eagerness to find a medium, and ability to stand her own and be assertive making her a perfect person, erm, star, for the job. Sapphire is a rather avid, yet conservative, supporter of Aran Samus’ view on preserving the Life Sphere and everyone else within, but she has also been known to find intrigue in certain points and beliefs of Mario’s and Sonic’s factions as well. She often muses to herself as to if there was some way to force all three of the faction leaders to work together and use their individual strengths to find and create a perfect triumvirate of common interest for Li’s benefit...
Attacks—
Primary Attacks (3)
Persieds: [8% Damage]
Summoning tiny meteors from its form, Sapphire targets up to two foes (two rolls dealing 4% each) or guides two meteors towards one foe (single roll dealing 8%). When these tiny motes of light contact a foe, they explode into shimmering silver dust that may induce severe sneezing fits.
Light Wisdom Attack
Luminescence: [0% Damage]
Concentrating all her energy into her solar core, Sapphire causes itself to glow with blinding white light. Every enemy who can see Sapphire must make a Constitution save against a DC set by Sapphire’s Wisdom roll. If the enemy fails, they have a 100% chance to be ‘Blinded’. This blindness lasts for a number of rounds equal to half of Sapphire’s Wisdom modifier (rounded down), or until the enemy is healed, Luma is trophyfied, or if Sapphire chooses to end the blindness early. (Cooldown 1/2 Wisdom Modifier (rounded down) + 1 posts)
Medium Wisdom ‘Attack’
Stellar Swoop: [%15 Damage]
In a desperate gambit to protect her friends, (or maybe out of surprise of being startled by opponents or other factors,) Sapphire flies at a foe’s head, batting at their face with her tiny extremities. With ice, dust, and some rock making up most of its form, this attack is surprisingly effective, accidentally cutting up an opponent’s face.
Medium Dexterity Attack
Special Attacks (3)
Launch Star: [25% Damage]
Though it is usually green and yellow Lumas who are renowned for transforming into a launch star, Sapphire took it upon herself to learn that delicate art. Transforming herself into a two-part Star launchpad, Sapphire can fire allies, enemies, or objects enormous distances at great speeds. This ability can be used to rapidly propel and exchange allies into or out of fights, move items quickly, or even harm particularly dangerous foes. If being used to launch an ally, the ally has a +2 power bonus to their next attack due to catching the foe by surprise and suffers no damage from being fired. If being used against a foe, Sapphire makes a Dexterity attack, either throwing the enemy themself or firing an object at them. (Cooldown 3 posts)
Heavy Dexterity Attack
Lullay Lullaby: [0% Damage]
All Lumas love their mother— Rosalina— dearly, and Sapphire is no exception. Remembering her mama fondly causes Sapphire’s already glowing body to pulse brighter, a light, harmonious trilling akin to a cat’s purr vibrating in the air. Sapphire possesses a pool of healing % equal to x2.5 its Charisma Score. When using this ability, she can heal herself and her allies by liberally utilizing the pool. Similarly, Sapphire can choose to expend 5% in its healing pool to relieve a single negative effect from a single ally or itself, expending 5% for each subsequent effect. (Cooldown 4 posts)
Medium Charisma Recovery
Ephemeral Jaunt [0% Damage]
Lumas, being made up of a mixture of nebular materials, are slightly transparent, holding themselves together by a mixture of its gravitational density and its sheer willpower. This aspect of her nature is what Sapphire utilizes when attempting to escape from potential enemies. Utilizing a full post to complete this maneuver, Sapphire passes though foes like a ghost, gaining a +2 to dodge incoming physical attacks for 2 turns. (Cooldown 3 posts)
Dexterity Maneuver
Final Smash— Celestial Sacrifice
The nature of a luma is self-sacrificial, conscious and painfully aware of the need for universal balance no matter the cost. Memories of past Lumas manifest themselves alongside Sapphire and simultaneously they plunge themselves into the fray, each claiming an ally (equivalent to Charisma modifier) and either healing them for a percentage equal to Charisma score or relieving up to half Charisma modifier negative effects plaguing the ally; Sapphire’s Smash then ends with her luma allies flying away towards the stars. Alternatively, all of them, including Sapphire, can surround a trophyfied ally and resurrect them with full health, shield, and no adverse effects maintained beforehand; Sapphire’s Smash then ends with herself being trophyfied.
