Backstory: Official Character Wiki
Never intended to walk the world as a free agent or individual, Mister L was initially created as a splintered shade of his host, Luigi, who had fallen victim to the forces of Count Bleck during the rise of the events of both the Dark and Light Prognostics. Through a devilish combination of forced hypnotism and brainwashing backed with hasty training, the old personality of Luigi was able to be overridden and replaced with a new, battle-hardened version of himself, nicknamed Mister L to prevent relapse and offer a name to the creation. It was known from the beginning that only a certain ‘Man in Green’ could properly possess and contain the Chaos Heart for its intended purpose, and after witnessing Luigi’s adamant resistance to Bleck and his forces, these methods were enforced to reduce the chances of Luigi turning against those that required his special affinity for the Chaos Heart. It was fortunate for the shade that would go on to become Mister L, of course, but quite unfortunate to Luigi.
The only familial relationship that Mister L had during his first weeks of creation was the Castle Bleck family. When not on his own; inventing marvels and robots, or picking fights with the Heroes of Light, occasionally Mister L would take it upon himself to be social with the members that sought the same ends as he was forced to strive for. As is the case with most families, Mister L has his favorites and his not-so-favorites, and he himself was a favorite and not-so-favorite of other members of the group. Probably the most controversial relationship that Mister L partook in, and definitely the most complex one that led to the most poisonous hatred ever conceived was the parasitical endeavor of his time, was with Dimentio, the trickster and Wild Card of the ‘team’. Though the two of them never garnered outright hatred towards the other, there was an uneasiness and a silent competition between the two of them to gain Count Bleck’s approval. It was not until the fated day, after a bitter battle and defeat at the hands of the Four Heroes, when Dimentio revealed his true motives. Even Mister L’s incredible wit and instinct failed him in a fatal way. Bruised, beaten, ashamed, and broken, Dimentio’s well-timed and deadly dimensional magic made a swift end to the infamous Mister L, sending him off as a ghost flitting to the Underwhere, where his Game would End... for a short while...
Now free of the others’ influence, the two splinters were sent to individual locations in the Underwhere; Luigi to be found by his friends in the Shadow Realm, and Mister L, because of his cursed existence, was banished to Tartarus, where Queen Jaydes, the monarch of the Underwhere, could ensure that his soul could ever return. Unfortunately, she did not expect fate to turn in the favor of another power: Dimentio’s power. Horrified at what he had done, or at least as horrified as a weapon of destruction hellbent on taking advantage of the system is capable of being, Mister L was more than willing to accept his fate of condemnation for his crimes. Torn away from the End of his Game, Mister L was summoned by Dimentio once again to be fused with Luigi, the Chaos Heart, and Dimentio himself, creating Super Dimentio. Infuriated at this binding, Mister L, for the only time in his existence, fought with the Heroes, if only from within, and when the hybrid monstrosity was defeated, Mister L was reunited with Luigi, becoming a mere personality and returning for a brief while to the Mushroom Kingdom.
However, this would not be the end of the tale; for though peace had returned to the dimension, peace was far from Luigi’s mind, having realized after tales were told of the mysterious Mister L that perhaps he had been the villain that had plagued that adventure. Enlightened with this knowledge, such knowledge could not come without consequence. The hero once know as Luigi would not be much longer for this existence. Eventually, this became too much to contain.
Mister L was fearless. He was able to do things that Luigi would never dream of, acting without a regret and never backing down until the goal was completed. Perhaps it was ambition, perhaps it was hollow desire, but with an air of finality and without the desire to turn back, Luigi permitted himself to become Mister L. For a while, he kept his previous name, subtly engaging in criminal activities in the Mushroom Kingdom. Eventually, however, his schemes were discovered, and without hesitation, Mister L was banished from the kingdom, never to return or see Mario, the Princess, or even Bowser ever again.
Taking to the life of a vagabond criminal, Mister L never truly had a home from that point on, taking residence in criminal organizations of all sorts and participating in Black Market dealings. Eventually, he returned to his roots as an inventor, creating many modern marvels: pistols, handguns, and silencers, among other trinkets. It would be years before Mister L regained enough proficiency with his inventing nature to even attempt to build another opus such as the iterations of Brobot.
It seemed that ill fortune followed Mister L about, perhaps in karmic nature serving as punishment for abandoning his duties as a protector and former hero of the Mushroom Kingdom. This karma returned in full in the form of a failed experiment, resulting in a tearing in spacetime, a concept that Mister L had been dabbling with over the course of half a year. Though this gap, Mister L found himself trapped, frozen in time and space, with nowhere to go... until Li found him.
*Please Note that this ‘Luigi’ is from a different timeline*
Appearance: Standing at a generous 5’8” and a healthy, slightly toned 153 pounds, Mister L is a perfect image of the traditional visage of Luigi. With a confident, determined expression alluding to ghosts of a grim history, often sporting either a smug smirk or an aggravated twitching of the corner of his mouth, it is either 100% cocky or 100% cutthroat for this ingenious fighter. Dressed in a doppelgänger style to Luigi, Mister L sports a dark green undershirt, often stained with oil or soot depending on his work that day, over which he wears a charcoal black pair of overalls fastened with gold buttons; once again useful in hiding dirt and grime from ambitious endeavors in inventing. Sturdy black workshoes and irreversibly stained grey gloves complete an almost monochrome style, shattered only by an emerald kerchief that he wears about his neck and the green hat possessing a backwards ‘L’ in a black circle on the forehead: the trademark of the Green Thunder.
Sharing much of the physical characteristics of his former self, Mister L is fairly tawny in skin tone, perhaps only a few shades paler than Luigi merely because of his tendency to stay in his personal garage and hardly ever interact with the outdoors. His hair is a dark mocha bordering on black, another individuality between him and his opposite, and he tends to grow it a little shaggier and curly as well, favoring the ability to position a part of his bangs over his eyes. Rather loathing his former self of Luigi (whom he mockingly refers to as ‘Junior’ on occasion,) in several ways, there is one feature of his counterpart that he was fond of: the imperial handlebar mustache which has grown and has been groomed handsomely over the past years. Mister L is often fond at tugging on it or twirling it when thinking intently or attempting to vent frustration instead of taking it out on others, and the more he twists it and the faster the corner of his mouth twitches, the angrier he tends to be. The only indication other than his posture and habits the could betray his often suave and even demeanor is the distinctive glitter of shocking silver eyes, bordered by a black mask in the fashion of a cliché highwayman. Those silver eyes sparkle when intrigued and pleasantly surprised (not often), and glower when aggravated and displeased (frequently). They say the eyes are the window to the soul; Mister L’s eyes are mirrors of the flaws present in the ambitions of madmen...
History On Li:
“Blasted world... Godforsaken mess of everything... Can’t even value my projects here, can they? Selfish imbeciles...” Pull down the gas mask, shed the heavy equipment, punch the clock, take a deep breath of filtered air in the special lab constructed mostly underground in a location named Evershade Valley. Exhale hastily, check the watch on his right wrist, drop the rest of the equipment to the floor with a BANG, wince a little at the possibility of breaking something and having to fix it again, and then move into the main room, wherein is located a desk strewn with metal knickknacks, gears, springs, and half-devised contraptions. Slump into the chair, bury his face in his hands, rub his eyes and pinch the bridge of his nose, fiddling absentmindedly with a pair of gears fitted to spin against one another smoothly and with efficiency. “Don’t listen, don’t understand, and above all, don’t even seem to want things to change!” Banging his hand on the table, Mister L caused the metal pieces to rattle about and forced some of them to fall off the table. How long had he been here for again? Weeks, Months, Years? Yes, Years, definitely years.
Groaning, Mister L ruffled his dark hair, knocking off his hat and causing it to tumble to the ground alongside the other metal knickknacks. As much as he hated others, he knew that in this case, it would be in his best interest to interact with others, if only so that he could take advantage of the system. A pause, feeling the hatred and frustration simmering in himself for a moment before lazily reaching down and hooking the brim of the hat with a dark glove and placing it beside him on the table. What was it that he had to complete today? What item could further his chances of survival and negate what little weaknesses that he had? Division between factions of characters; Samus, Mario, Sonic, and so many more... Mister L was the outlier; the rogue. It had only been what he would consider dumb luck (Or, more specifically a 1 in 16 x 1072 chance,) that he had ended up being cast out of his solitude and thrust into this hellscape. He was doing this for himself, only for himself, and God forbid that he be instructed to help anyone but himself get out of this situation. Nobody here had yet earned his respect, and it was unlikely that that standing was going to change anytime soon.
How long had he been trapped? There had been nothing. Nothing to find, nothing to do, nothing to place hope or emotions in. Not that he cared. He didn’t care at all. He didn’t need anyone but himself, he had nobody but himself. Even the ones that had claimed to love him, be they friend or foe, had never appreciated nor tried to stop him from falling down this never ending descent. They hadn’t even tried to redeem him. Redemption, what a foolish and foolhardy word. Redemption never came for him. Why should he offer it to another person who didn’t deserve it?
Still, there were some vices of Mister L‘s that he did miss: his infatuation with creating, breaking, and rebuilding things; his close ties with being on the edge of the law and occasionally on the run; the thrill of running from attackers and causing minor wanton destruction; and above all... frequent visits to the black market, a location where Mister L was both well known and occasionally a pivotal figure in. These were the things that got him out of bed in the morning, the things that offered a faint light at the end of the tunnel. A chance for a somewhat normal life. A life that went the way that he wanted it to, and was not influenced by anyone else.
He didn’t plan on being a negative or positive influence in this world. He merely offered his services and inventions to the highest bidder. Expectations and goodness be damned.
Attacks-
Primary Attacks (3)
Basic Attack 1: Fan the Hammer [3-9% DAMAGE]
“Nothing like a test of reflex to start a duel off right!"
Armed with a blaster (Sons of Bwanarchy) that Mister L pinched from the Mushroom Castle treasury before his exile and then repainted the gold silver, rapidly aiming and firing is one of the skills that Mister L prides himself on. Due to Mister L overcharging the system, three blaster impulses are fired in quick succession, the first with a -3 penalty, the second with a -0 penalty, and the third with a +2 bonus, representing the difficulty to aim and accurately hit something whilst haphazardly charging and firing repeatedly. Renowned for maintaining constant electrical current while in pursuit, being attacked while charging poses no worry for Mister L.
[Light Dexterity Attack]
Basic Attack 2: Kinetic Transference [*Special*% DAMAGE]
“When you don’t have any projectiles yourself, turn another’s back at them!”
*Can only be used on projectiles or characters acting as projectiles
Examples: Luigi Missile, Arrows, Lucario’s Aura Sphere*
When targeted or threatened by a projectile, Mister L utilizes a method of redirecting negative energy and making it his own, redirecting, reflecting, and adding a little of his own energy in the process. Thus, he mimics the attack of the enemy who targeted him, dealing x1.2 damage that would have been dealt to him. This attack can only be used once per attack round. (Cooldown 1 post)[Reflective Intelligence Attack]
Basic Attack 3: Doratio Spin [18% DAMAGE]
“Destructive and effective. I’m not moving; you’re moving for me.”
Perhaps an instinct, perhaps a part of his nature, Doratio Spin is an aggressive, yet controlled Luigi Cyclone, without liftoff purposes. By spinning in a tight circle, his hands in a karate knife-hand, and extending his arms in a signature ‘L’, Doratio Spin batters and beats the foe with multiple strikes.
[Medium Dexterity Attack]
Special Attacks (3)
Special Attack 1: Target Lock [0% DAMAGE]
“I have you in my sights. Better start praying that I misjudged your competence.”
Trained to take advantage of any lapse in defense, Mister L is perpetually on the lookout to exploit an opening. By utilizing 2 attack moves, he gains a x1.3 increase to damage output and reduces the current cooldowns of expended moves by 1. This bonus remains in place for 2 rounds or until Mister L is reverted to trophy form. (Cooldown 3 posts)
[Intelligence Maneuver]
Basic Attack 2: Blitzkrieg [10% DAMAGE]
“Fast as Lightning, and just as electrifying.”
Strike fast, hit hard. By isolating visible weak points, Mister L performs a three-part maneuver, his whole body crackling with the lightning of Thunderhand: A knife-hand to the base of the neck to induce a flinch, followed up by a turning kick to the opponent’s side, and finally a powerful full palm crackling with lightning to the chest, blasting the opponent away. This move has a 50% chance to induce Paralysis.
[Medium Wisdom Attack]
Special Attack 3: Thunderhand [12-32% DAMAGE]
“Not given to me directly, I’m afraid, but stolen tactics are tactics nonetheless.”
A powerful blast of elemental lightning; something that Mister L has honed to perfection over the years. This action can be charged for up to 3 attack moves, dealing 10% more damage for every charge above one (releasing the energy is considered part of the action, so the move can be completed at the end of the attack post for 32% damage). When he completes the move, he cannot perform any more moves in that round, due to stumbling back to catch his breath from the sudden discharging of energy. (Cooldown 1-3 posts depending on charge time)
[Heavy Wisdom Attack]
Final Smash- Storm of Chaos
“The Green Thunder strikes like Lightning!”
Planting himself firmly, Mister L’s eyes glow with argent light, the power of Thunderhand surrounding him with crackling electricity. Black motes, remnants of the shattered Chaos Heart, swirl about as a storm whips up, tossing opponents about like rag dolls.
Effect: This Smash can be sustained for up to 3 rounds, forcing Mister L to concentrate solely on maintaining the storm (so he cannot perform any other attacks in the meantime). By sacrificing his vitality at a rate of 5% per +1 bonus to attack or 10% additional effect chance, Mister L can inflict madness on his foes or attack with the lightning that emanates from his body. He can only choose one effect per post.
- Induce Madness- Roll percentile dice against one target Mister L can see; this maneuver has a base 20% chance to cause the ‘Berserk’ status.
Thunderbolt- Roll a Wisdom attack with a base of +0 bonus against one target; on a hit, this attack deals 15% damage and has a base of 30% chance to induce the ‘Paralysis’ status.
At any point during this Smash, Mister L can choose to end it early (must be mentioned at the beginning of the post and cannot be compounded with one of the previous effects on post in question), dealing a percentage of damage equal to 30 x (the amount of remaining posts in Smash duration), for a maximum of 80%. If he chooses to target multiple foes, he must divide damage equally between them.
Consequences, Consequences... No mortal is able to fully preserve themselves from untempered Chaos. At the end of his Smash, Mister L has a 100% chance to be ‘Disabled’, taking the -3 bonus to his Wisdom stat as he attempts to recover his sanity.
