Yo! Our newest suspect test is about Akatsuki Blitzkampf! The primary concern I'd like to bring to attention regarding this series is that it seems to skirt the rules against apping nazis by featuring characters who are nazis in all but name. They have the armbands. They're german. There's Sig Heil.

Reminder: The reason we don't allow nazis on Li is because villains can win on Li and we don't want to explore a "The Nazis Won" storyline, which given a long enough span of time would be inevitable if we allowed them.

To elaborate on the nazi ban, since there has been some pushback on it, I'd like to take a moment to explain why it exists in detail. For those of you who may find the open discussion of nazi stuff upsetting, you don't have to read this. It is my hope that by explaining why we have a strict policy on this in explicit yet sterile detail that it will satisfy some of our members who may not have understood prior. Some people have played plenty of shooters prominently featuring nazis and don't necessarily see what the big deal is. The thing is, video games are generally really bad at portraying why nazis are evil. In a lot of video games the nazis are just the designated bad people speaking the bad language hanging out waiting to be clicked on.

Roleplay isn't like that. When you write a story about the nazis, it tends to require that you address a lot of their more human aspects. At least, assuming we're dealing with artistic integrity here. Nothing that has ever happened on Li really rises to the level of horror that a remotely authentic depiction of the nazis would bring to the table. We also do not prevent villains from winning on Li, meaning they can in fact win. It's not just a one and done deal where they lose and they've lost forever.

If the nazis arrived on Li, realistically speaking they would choose to be members of the life sphere. They would then engage in brainwashing and propaganda from within in an effort to undermine the Life Sphere's authority. You would see beloved characters, at the very least NPCs, falling to them via either the brainwashing or coercion (fear of retribution if they don't) and joining their forces. They would continue consolidating power while avoiding actual all-out conflict until they thought victory was assured. Consider the imagery of a toad wearing nazi regalia. This is not an avoidable reality of having nazis around. It's what they do.

And that's not even getting into the genocide they would attempt to engage in if at any point they thought they could get away with it, or the types of people they would try to eradicate. We on Li generally enjoy villains with more ...cartoonish goals. Taking over the world. Destroying the world. Ironically, these things are a lot easier to swallow than say, eliminating all LGBT people. That's just the nature of fictional prejudices versus prejudices that feel more real and close to home. And as much as I love a story about LGBT struggles, I don't think I'd enjoy the nazi angle on that. Bit too much. Just a bit.

So to retrace our steps, the reason we don't allow nazis and anything that takes too strongly from nazis is that they're basically a societal sickness that make the starvia's practice of just killing people and using their bodies as vessels to destroy their former allies look merciful. Not only would that test our content rating, but I can't say with confidence that Proboards wouldn't take issue with it. I also strongly suspect that if we did introduce nazis to Li, it would have a considerable negative effect on people's enjoyment of the site.

So yeah. That's why we don't mess around with the no nazis rule. If you want to create a nazi-free version of a character, you can bring that up. But it would probably need to be an OC that's sterilized thoroughly so that we don't need to trust whoever's playing the character not to revisit any of those elements. I'm not sure we're going to give a thumbs up to anyone playing an actual tank anytime soon because that's memeing pretty close to the sun, but y'know.
