"Howdy-do. My name's Ecolo. I'm a Wanderer of Worlds...and also the Police Force's newest detective.

Yeah, I know, I don't look very detective-y at first glance, but I do have a very sharp mind. Anyways, today I happened to get a call from the policemen - attempted murder at a stage play. More details when I got to the scene. My first case, laid out to me in no less than 2 days after I get the job! And it was just like those detective novels! Needless to say, I tingled with excitement at that prospect. With no time to lose, I darted towards the crime scene..."

Outside Toadberth Stage - 8:22 PM

"All right, everyone get back! This area is off-limits!"

Police Toad Barry never liked being put into the role of crowd control. Subduing the urge to groan, he asked for the curious bystanders to get back once more, before unceremoniously switching places with a random partner. "Ugh...crowd control sucks." He muttered to himself, frustration seeping through his teeth. Well, thankfully, it was going to be all patrol from here on out...well, that and waiting for the detective's backup. He already had informed the boss about it - permission had been granted already, now it was just a matter of their arrival.

Speaking of backup...

As soon as the three would cross the barricade tapes surrounding the vintage brown building, Barry would make his way to them. "Shirogane, Dell'Thayme, Kitagawa." he greeted them. "Glad you could make it. The commotion's must've been a real pain to navigate through, haha. Anyway, Detective Ecolo went inside a little while ago." He said, pointing to the two big doors a bit behind him. "He should be receiving some information already. Anyways, I should get back to patrolling. Don't let me keep you here any longer. Thank you very much for the help." he spoke soon afterwards, tipping his hat off to the three before moving to his position.

So the new detective was inside...

Inside Toadberth Stage - 8:22 PM

"OK, you've anything s0 far?" Ecolo asked, adjusting his longcoat as he looked around the stage where the attempted murder happened. The outline of the singer was painted to the stage's left, and the site of the impact left some noticeable damage. One could already tell she fell from a large height. "R-right, so...from what we managed to gleam from what we've seen...um...the play had her staged on a prop that was situated above the stage. According to some talk I caught, some people saw a silhouette brandishing a knife cut some of the ropes sustaining the prop, and she fell down out of lack of balance." a Toadette from the police force replied as she tagged behind Ecolo. The wanderer of worlds picked up a small notepad and scribbled some stuff on it. "Hmm...s0 whoever that wanted to kill her was probably trying to make it look like it was an accident." Ecolo pondered. "Do we have any witnesses?" he asked. "W-well, actually, we have four witnesses that claim to have seen what happened in better detail . I'll bring them here so you can interrogate them." The Toadette stammered. "Right! Much thanks!" Ecolo thanked her, before getting back to observing the crime scene.

"I'm not a detective by trade, but logic runs in my work. Thaumaturgy. Working miracles. It will take many to make it through this day, and... well... I'm well equipped for the job. Potions, tonics, and the likes weren't able to be brought in, so I'll have to make do with what is on-scene that isn't part of the crime scene. Ecolo requested my help. In an effort to... ehm, 'research' the nature of his being, I'm helping him."

Oracle Focused... Recording Celestial Alignment and Chronological Position...

Approaching from the back of the crowd pulls a malefic aura that threatens to pulse with such vile power that it may as well rob the life of those around it. Barely contained, but expertly sealed, it was clearly the mark of a magical being. He wades through the crowd with little regard for their needs or wants, treating them more as water to walk through than actual people attempting to reconnect with loved ones. At the front, when acknowledged, the thaumaturge nods quietly, and smirks as he approaches within. Some might even say he's the killer, judging by how dark a presence he brought with him, but when he passed that threshold to the stage and backstage where Ecolo resided, it was clear he was part of this team, not against it. Such a villainous presence was clearly not one to be welcomed with many smiles or open arms. Not that Isonus cared. His expertise did not lie in talking to the people here. Rather, it was sensing and uncovering pieces of the scene normally dormant to the others. What these young'ins had in social skills and general charisma, he had in spades of with a paranormal sixth sense, and intuition beyond anyone's imagination. A God, former at least, now among the mortals in this room.

Unfortunately for the others who may be sensitive to such a malefic presence, Isonus entered the backstage and gazed his golden eyes around. The shimmer of such orbs, these inhuman, un-elflike spheres, were almost like gemstones or sensors, and less of actual eyeballs. Isonus keeps a close eye on Ecolo as the blob-man spoke, before piping when he felt it necessary. Such timing, of course, after Ecolo decided to stop yammering to the stage-hand. As he approached to the left of Ecolo, the tall, six foot half-elf ran his gauntlet's fingers through his hair, that bright pink orb mounted on the top of it glistening in the dimmed lights of the stage's rear, filling Isonus's veins with that inscrutable power he was so known for. Regardless, he was eager to begin his work, preferably undisturbed. "Rundown, short version. What sort of things should I be searching for while you question the others?"

Yusuke wandered toward where the crowd had gathered. He had heard about what had happened here, and had come to investigate. He had pushed his way through the crowd until he found Officer Barry, "You have no idea, Officer." Yusuke responded to Barry's comment on the crowds "I almost couldn't get through without shoving someone over". Wasting no time, Yusuke quickly ushered himself  into the house along with the others that had accompanied him. One of them wasn't that unusual, but the other.....there was an almost hellish aura coming off him. Yusuke had never felt anything like it, not even from the strongest of Shadows. It was starting to make him nervous. But, since he was accepted into the crime scene, he was obviously an ally, so Yusuke would treat him as such.

As they entered the building, Yusuke immediately took out a sketchpad. Paint might be his forte, but he was also quite handy with a pencil. While the tall dark one questioned the other dark one, Yusuke took note of the crime scene, taking in every detail and transfering it to the paper. Slowly but surely he started making a drawing of the crime scene, all the while listening in to Ecolo and Isonus's conversation. He didn't want to miss any important details either!

This case with some... known but rather unique aquantices was one that Naoto had to make sure she was prepared for. Admittedly, a team of four detectives might be a bit much for a mystery but she won't really question this being an official mission. Afterall, this was about an attempt at the life of an apparent celebrity... She didn't know the woman personally or well, not really a figure on the scene she kept up with. Despite that however, there was one constant here, a truth to find and one that needs to be discovered.

"Detective Naoto Shirogane, I need to get through," she commanded simply and authoritively as she pushed through the crowd. She was fairly short although not severely so at 5' even... Admittedly, most of the Toad Officers were probably even shorter than she was. Still, she made sure to put on a deep and authoritive sounding voice, one she usually used when hiding her true self although that was not the intent here as she stepped past the officer. "Don't worry about it, comes with the detective work. You can get back to your patrol," Naoto addresses, looking back for a moment before entering the main area to see Isonus, Yusuke and Ecolo.

She already had a briefing with Ecolo but looked to the others... Her and him would probably be the best for actually looking into the situation, but an artist's eye is certainly a valuable asset... And so is the non-material expertise of a Magic Teacher. She looked to the scene for a moment... Before back to Ecolo. "I'm here, Detective Ecolo. Ready to begin the investigation proper?" she stated simply, in her work attire of a blue hat she normally wears but also her blue coat, her revolver was concealed, really hoping it was not needed but it was important to have on hand. She was more intent on sticking by the new one's side than straying too far. As far as she was concerned this was primarily his case and she was just here to provide her aide and expertise.

“So you guys are here, huh?” Ecolo asked, turning to the three (well, two, since one of them was apparently super busy drawing) new faces. “The police have briefed me about some help comin’ around. Nice to work with ya!” He said, opting to tip his hat to the backup. “Right, short version of what I know: Our criminal attempted to kill a singer midway through a performance at 7:40 PM, by cutting the ropes of the prop she was hoisted with. Weapon used is theorized to be a knife. The singer sustained injuries and is out cold, bu she isn’t in mortal peril. For now, we’ll investigate the platform, the backstage, and the upper floors.”

“Detective Ecolo?” The Toadette called back. “I brought the witnesses.” she said, as she stepped to the side and gave way to four figures: a big Koopa Troopa who wore sneakers, a young Toad wearing a Koopa costume, a portly old Toad with elegant clothing, and a Toadette dressed in a dazzling outfit.

“Thanks! OK, detectives, here’s how we’re gonna do this.” Ecolo nodded before turning to address Isonus and Naoto. “Isonus, you go look for clues backstage. Naoto, you investigate the platform. Yusuke, keep arting! I’ll interrogate these guys.”

((Mechanic explanation time! There are three areas to go look and find clues: Platform, Backstage, and 2nd Floor. Each of these areas has at least one clue hidden in them that’ll help you discover the culprit. To find clues, you’ll need to perform an INT check. If you roll a 14+, you’ll be able to find a clue. If you roll a 16+, you may find two. 18+ rolls will yield you three clues.

You can also help Ecolo in his interrogation if you’d like. Each of the witnesses have a certain CHA threshold that you’ll need to pass in order to get information out of them. If your roll is larger than the threshold by 5, you might get some extra information.))

Pac had heard about there being help with an investigation and figuring that it would likely be less stressful that going outside the Life Sphere; he took his chance to jump at it and lend his smarts to someone else.  There were others there who had beaten him to the play so he made sure to give himself a good pep in his step.  Not fun to be the last one to a party if experience has told him anything.

PAC-MAN made his way through the crowd as quickly as he could and dove in.  He wasn't much for talking since arriving on Li.  Between not being able to be understood and the constant odd-jobs he had been keeping busy with, not all was good in Pac-Land so to say.  Still, he kept up his pep, brandishing his smile and moving forward.  He bumped through the citizens and made his way to the rest of the crew.  

Scraping together what he could about the situation, he took a good look around.  The outline didn't make him feel better about it.  Pac made his way over to the group and listened in for a bit.  Talking to others probably wouldn't be his best suit as he cocked his head to the side with a slight blonk.  Maybe he should go search somewhere else.  He have a gesture up before bounding up the stairway to see what he could find.

After a good bit of searching, he was coming up empty handed.  Pac crossed his arms and tapped his boot against the ground.  It had been a while since he had done any serious work.  Maybe he was getting rusty...
