So, I've got an idea for what could be a fun thing to do. How many of you have played Risk before?
The lands of Nether Plains didn't seem terribly different from normal - As normal as it got for the Nether Plains, anyway - until, to the shock of many Starvia-infected entities nearby, a giant, glowing eye opened up seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Before long, a figure would be able to be spotted coming out of the eye, which would slowly levitate to the ground, barely making any noise his feet touched the ground beneath him. His appearance was mostly hidden - his white hair and most of his face were completely hidden by his black and purple robe, which people from Ylisse and its surrounding kingdoms could identify as a Plegian Dark Mage robe. He seemed to be completely unarmed, much to the satisfaction of the nearby monsters, as they charged at the newcomer.
Their efforts didn't last long. With a single wave of the hand, spikes protruded from the ground, impaling the monsters around him and instantly turning them into their trophy forms. After a slight pause, he would let out a low chuckle, eventually growing into his harrowing laugh. "Hahahahaha!" He began. "My power exceeds even what I knew! Even that bastard, Robin, can't put me down for good!" He celebrated, before the more obvious realization occured. "Now, then... Where am I? I don't believe this area appears on the lands that I used to rule." Grima mused. "Although, that is only a minor setback." Grima decided, before he gave his hand a wave. From beneath the ground, monsters would begin to claw their way to surface. While they could typically be called 'zombies,' the people of Ylisse had taken to calling them 'Risen.' "One way or another, I will bring a world to ruin as retribution for sealing me away for so many millenia..."
So, Grima. The main antagonist of Fire Emblem Awakening makes a stop in Li after supposedly having been slain by Robin, and that's terrible news for everyone. Without his dragon body, Grima is incapable of accessing his full power, but he still has the power to create the Risen whenever he so chooses it, and intends to make full use of this ability to begin a hostile takeover of Li, with a side objective of reobtaining his full power.
Now, the Risk comparison I made earlier isn't inaccurate. Using the map of Li, Grima would begin at the Nether Plains and gradually expand outwards, with varying degrees of resistance. Resistance would come in the form of characters commanding forces to combat Grima's Risen. That said, every area Grima conquers serves another purpose than a plot of land for his conquest - they can also spawn Risen. As such, the more areas Grima controls, the more powerful he becomes. As such, the board's overall ability to counter him is dependent on a few factors: How quickly they realize Risen attacks are happening, how quickly they realize these attacks are being coordinated, and how quickly they realize that Grima himself is a factor.
While Grima himself doesn't know this yet, every corner of the map actually has one of the gemstones of the Fire Emblem. As such, it's entirely possible for Grima to regain to his full power over the course of the conquest. As such, this part of the plot would end after one of many criteria are met -
1. The Risen uprising is stopped, and all areas Grima conquers reclaimed.
2. Grima himself is killed or captured - much more likely the latter, because you cannot kill what cannot die.
3. Grima assumes his full power. At that point, it would come down to a struggle between a full-powered Grima, known for bringing an entire continent to its knees in record time, and his much more powerful Risen minions that he could create. While not unwinnable, it would certainly be a struggle on the Life Sphere's end.
So, any thoughts?
