While the chaotic clashing of clans continued to wage on at the yellow bellied croc’s warehouse, it was most notably absent from Eggman’s illustrious tower. It was truly the pinnacle of the Life Sphere’s architectural ingenuity, in addition to being the tallest point in the city’s silhouette. Comparatively speaking, it made the shacks that surrounded it below look like mud huts crafted by bumbling Goombas. Given that it was located in the Black Market district that might not be a far off estimation…

Bright lights and muzzle flares from the battlefield refracted off the pristine glass windows of the office building, the Gang Wars having no better spot to be observed as a whole than the rooftop of the professor’s towering monument. Speaking of the roof though, it would seem that despite the artificial nature of the dome’s atmosphere a collection of clouds began to cluster over the building, each of them presenting a rather joyous expression. Regardless of how happy the tuffs of fluff appeared to be they soon commenced a downpour, though instead of waterworks they dropped a few unpleasant figures that would no doubt be a worse way to rain on Dr. Robotnik’s day.

One of those said figures was Vector the Crocodile, semi-renown ace detective and leader of the Chaotix Corporation. The lime lizard descended through the air as gracefully as one would expect a four hundred pound crocodile in a belly flopping position should. Luckily, he stuck the landing fairly well. It wasn’t the first time he’d been on a mission that required such a drop, but he had to say he’d never rode a cloud before. He waved the sentient cloud creatures off and began his work.

He sprung to his feet fairly quickly, his hand messing with the volume on his headphones to blast in some heavier beats. His eyes were quick to investigate the area, pinpointing a ventilation shaft which wasn’t difficult to do on such a flat surface to begin with. Otherwise, the roof was void of anything else worth of note. In which case, he scuttled off to the nearest edge in order to do some internal calculations to make sure he’d pick the right floor the next time he dropped. It wouldn’t be easy, but the Chaotix way was never the easy way.

“Heh heh, we ready?” Vector quizzed as he spun back around in search of his allies.

Shizuka sat on the Lakitu cloud beside him as she looked down at the war going down below her, she was never afraid of heights but was surprised of the glows going down below her on this very tall tower, she turned towards It and looked at It, so this Is Eggman's Lair? This will be fun ruining Eggman's position In this war...And his reputation as a scientist who want's to protect the sphere with his...Defense...Well what good will do that If a seventeen year old girl appears and ruin's that chance?

As Shizuka looked down so she could see Vector preparing his part of the mission, as she looked down she pulled out something from her pocket, a weapon her friend Rosalyn gave her before departing on the Lakitu which will help her make sure the main control's of Eggman's precious tower will be damaged beyond repair.



"Are we In the control room yet?" One cherry said.

"Yeah...I want to help out!" The other said as Shizuka just sighed.

"Yes we will soon, all you need to do Is keep quiet until we reach the room." She said as she placed the cherry's back Into her pocket as they complained about accidentally head butting each other, eventually she made It to the landing spot to where Vector was, she looked at the lakitu before jumping down toward's him. "Thanks...I suggest not bringing people on this cloud...It's uncomfortable." She said as she jumped down to where vector was, landing in front of him and looked at him when he asked If everyone was ready.

"Yes...I'm here." She said to Vector as she walked away from him and toward's the shaft, quickly she pulled It off and looked In It. "So...I'll go In here...I'm surprised, this was easy to pull then on the Island with Link." She said to Vector as she looked back at him.  "If you have anything that I need before I go through here, I would like to have It." She said as she held her hand out for anything Vector wanted to give her, she already knew her objective, she was just not sure If she was going to get anything before she actually starts.

whether she get's something from him or not, Shizuka quickly spoke again. "I wish you luck...When that Iris girl come's tell her I also wish her luck." She said to Vector as she climbed into the vent and crawled In...But not before placing the vent back on soon after.

And now to begin the long crawl to the control room.

"Now to actually find the control room..."

A young girl in a lovely flowing dress landed on her feet in a crouching position. Rising to her feet, Iris emitted a sigh of relief as she stretched her arms and legs. "Oh boy. That was fun!" the pokemon trainer announced, bouncing on her feet a little as she took in the environment around her. She took notice of Vector nearby and grinned at him. "Ready, steady, go~!" Iris replied, counting with her fingers in a humorous manner. She would then move to inspect the ventilation shaft Shizuka had just disappeared into before turning her attention back to Vector. "Wait--Are we splitting up?" she would go on to ask in confusion, becoming a bit more serious now that the joy of skydiving had worn off. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to follow the rushy rush girl or if there was another entrance Vector was considering. For now, her pokemon were concealed.

Iris is ready and steady.

Vector stood in a very confident manner, though as the teenage girl landing directly in front of him was more than enough to stagger him. One would imagine that Vector should be more adapted to child falling from the sky with Charmy and all, but he really didn’t expect it from his hired help. Looking upon the two once more, he was still rather disappointed that he couldn’t get a more skilled team in terms of stealth, but it would seem that war time gobbled up any covert agents that might have been previously available. Oh well, the plan was simple enough for the trio to get it done.

“Oh right!” the crocodile stated hastily as he dug a walkie talkie out from his boot and tossed it to Shizuka. “Only use that in emergencies, as in if you’ve already been spotted. I don’t know if his defenses will account for radio signals, but odds are they will be able to detect them. And just a reminder, a big reminder, avoid being spotted at all costs until we shut down the lockdown procedure. If a drone so much as sees you it’ll commence lockdown immediately. If that happens there’s a slim chance that we’ll be able to get this done in a manner that’ll affect the battle whatsoever. We’ll contact you when lockdown is disengaged, so good luck.”

With that being said, the other teenager made her entrance, and was she ever deserving of the title Charmy-stand in. That being said though, she probably had better stealth skills than Charmy anyway, so it was a significant upgrade. “Yep! One through the vent, two through the window. Eggman usually keeps his security and control rooms separate and as far away from each other as possible. Of course, it’s no real hindrance to him, he can remotely control this tower from the safety of his Egg mobile. So long as no one rats us out we’re good to go, now follow me” Vector explained in a rather chipper tone. It was very rare that he got these types of assignments anymore, and he did miss out on invading Black Shadow’s base a while back, but this should be something a bit more up his alley.

After giving Iris a thumbs up, he leapt off the side of the building and stuck his snout into the air. A few fierce chews later and balloon of bubble gum formed from his mouth as he slowly descended the side of the tower. ‘Hrm, how many floors was this building again? Thirty Eight? Okay, so that’s thirty six, thirty five… wait, is there a thirteenth floor? That might skew my count. Then again, Eggman’s not exactly a superstitious fellow, he did build a base in a haunted castle before, so I doubt he cares.’ the saurian thought to himself as he continued to slowly descend.

‘Here we go! Eighth floor!’ the reptile thought eventually. His hands quickly slapped together around the balloon, popping it in addition to coating his gloves in the sticky substance which allowed him to latch onto the desired window like suction cups. He very swiftly finagled one of his hands away from the glass in order to search through his utility boot once again. When he revealed his hand, one of his fingers were dipped in a strange bit of putty, which he proceeded to line the pane with. With all that completed, he jabbed one of his dagger like teeth into the siding and spun his head in a circular motion until a near perfect oval popped out. The crocodilian squeezed through the hole without much issues, no doubt the even tinier girl would have no problem slipping straight through.

It would seem that they found themselves within a cubicle-like area. Vector himself stuck to the walls immediately, keeping as low as possible considering that both his size and complexion were not exactly subtle, especially since the lights in the room were still on. In fact, the entire building still appeared to be quite active despite the war going on. That being said though, it would no doubt still be incredibly understaffed. “See anything? the crocodile whispered to his companion.

As for Shizuka, the sights weren’t exactly glamourous. Metallic gray was the most she would be seeing most of the night. The vent itself though was a fairly straight forward tunnel, but as she delved deeper she would probably notice that the heat was still on. The air wasn’t incredibly hot, in fact it was only just barely noticeable for now. She would eventually find herself a fork in the road though, a left or right option.

Shizuka looked at the walkie talkie Vector gave her and told her to only use It for emergencies only, like If she get's caught by a drone, which Shizuka know's she won't, Vector and Iris will call Shizuka once they shut down the lockdown protocol. "I know...Of course, I won't be the one In much trouble tonight." She said as she looked back up to Vector and Iris after looking at the walkie talkie, staring at the two for awhile before turning towards the vent and heading Into It. "Be careful...You don't know what could happen In here." She said to the Crocodile and Pokemon trainer as she entered the vent.

Shizuka started to crawl In the cramped tunnel, and kept on doing so for quite awhile, It was a little hot In the vent but she didn't mind, although she Is board that she can't look what's under her yet...As there is no vent entry yet...However she suddenly noticed two path's in front of her, one left and one right, she looked at the two paths and thought about which one to choose.

"Hmm...Maybe I should choose..."

She looked at the left path and decided to choose that path rather than the right. "This one..." She said as she crawled to the left path of the vent.

"Let's hope this lead's to the control room...And not something stupid..."

Iris nodded in understanding, only for her eyes to widen as Vector abruptly chose to leap from the building. Not one to shy away from something that looked that fun, Iris produced a pokeball and primed it before promptly jumping off the building as well. Her flowing dress proptly went fluttering above her as she fell, revealing the normally unseen modesty shorts that normally hid just out of sight underneath. Iris did not fall for long however, as she wasn't looking to die--or go flying past Vector for that matter. She promptly sent out Hydreigon to catch her, the airborne pokemon moving to join their companion at the window. "...Nice~" Iris would remark passingly as she observed Vector's window cutting skills. She wished she could bite through a window. ...Maybe Haxorus could? Maybe later.

Iris stood up on Hydreigon's back and dived through the window after Vector, landing on her hands and knees and returning Hydreigon back into her pokeball to make it easy to get the large pokemon through. Iris would remain low to the ground. Although she wasn't particularly tall at 5'4'', she didn't feel like taking her chances and crouching/crawling was just as comfortable as any other form of movement--at least as far as she was concerned. On request however, Iris began to look about the room. More importantly though, her nose began to wriggle as she began to sniff at the air. Iris was very in tune with her sense of smell, and if there was someone else nearby she was far more likely to smell them coming before she saw them coming.

The air within the compact duct became slightly cooler as the young girl split off through the leftward path, trusting her instincts (or perhaps it was merely random choice). Either way, the lack of heat would no doubt be a better sensation than the presence of it. That being said though, the vent itself became a bit narrower as she continued to crawl. By the looks of it, both paths were of the same size, so the change was rather unavoidable. Luckily the woman was a decent fit for the path, if she was only slightly bigger it would’ve been a fairly snug trip through the mechanism. As it was, there was barely enough room for her to crawl on all fours, the metal ceiling sliding across her back as she moved forward. The same could be said for her shoulders against the walls, but if she was to scrunch her body inwards she would avoid that sensation.

As her venture forward continued she would eventually come to yet another obstacle. This one was a bit more alive than the previous. It would seem that there was a sleeping Mouser blocking the path. Though, waking the creature would soon not be an issue for the girl.

With the rat’s acute sense of hearing it was able to detect the girl’s movements and leapt onto its feet within a matter of seconds. The vermin adjusted its sunglasses and stood rather tall, though even then its head was only a few inches shorter than the roof of the small path. “Eyy, look who we have here disturbing my rat nap. I’m gonna take a wild guess you’re looking to get into the big cheese’s base, eh?” the mouse stated in a rather factious manner. He proceeded to stroke his chin as he very subtly looked behind him. “Well, I’m blocking the way aren’t I? Hrm, I don’t know if my legs are working all that good. I might need’a bit of dough to go get them fixed, if you know what I’m saying. I think ‘em doctors charge an item per visit. I’m feeling a bit generous today though, so eh maybe two items will get yah the grand tour of this place.”

The most prominent scent that Iris would pick up is metal, the smell of a well-oiled machine and perhaps more than one. It was somewhat distant and even as the little girl peeked out from the cornered off work space she wouldn’t see any of the Doctor’s machines just yet. What she her eyes would pick up on was the general layout of the room they were currently within. It wasn’t something too far off from the usual Earthly office space, large clusters of cubicles that would probably look not unlike the one they were currently residing in.

A computer chair (though they were bigger than most considering that Egg Pawns would no doubt be the ones operating here), a desk, and a computer. Eggman’s base did double as his office building after all, designing self defense items for the non-combat inclined residents of the Life Sphere.

Iris’s eyes did catch the door out of the call center though, but it was on the opposite end of the room from where they were and the lights still being active and radiant would not lend the element of stealth into their favour.

Vector himself was still neatly tucked away underneath the desk of the cubicle they entered in from, lurking amongst the shadows. Of course, he only did so after he placed the oval piece of glass where it belonged. It still didn’t look quite right, but someone could only tell the damage that had been done if they closely examined it, so they would be fine on that front for now.

After being filled in on Iris’s report, the Crocodile began to scheme. “Hrm. Lemme see what items you got on you and see if they can help us any. If my hunch is right, then there’s probably one or two egg bots patrolling the area. If they’re together we’ll have to sneak around them because it’ll be too risky to attack them both at once. Unless we can freeze them or somehow fry their circuitry. Basically, if we’re gonna hit them, we need to take them out in one hit or somehow delay them from sending out the lockdown command.” Vector instructed in a surprising quiet tone based on the fact his voice usually only had one pitch.

As Shizuka kept crawling she soon saw a mouse...With glasses sleeping right In front of her, It would be very hard for her to get past him without waking him up, and what with the vent she Is In suddenly turning narrow, It just became more difficult, to the point It would be impossible not to wake him, unfortunately he did and said he wasn't going to allow Shizuka to pass, he also complained that his legs were sore.

"Do you want me to carry you out of here...If your legs are sore." She said to the mouse before speaking again. "And yes, but he looks more like an egg then cheese, I'm trying to get to the main control room of this tower, you don't happen to know where that Is do you? Am I going the right way?" She said to the Mouse who said he'll only move If Shizuka gave him two items, although she wanted to refuse, Shizuka could use this chance to get rid some of the items she has that are useless to her.

Such as Dia.

Shizuka took out the bottle containing Dia, who looked at Shizuka and expressed happiness of seeing her soon to be former master by flying across the jar she was In. "Shizuka! are you here to use me for one of your adventures...It's been a month since we last talked...It was very dark In your pockets." She said to Shizuka, sounding a bit sad near the end. "Well you should say goodbye to me because you now have a new owner." She said as she gave the jar to the mouse. "What...Shizuka no! WERE A TEAM!" She said to the girl who just stared at the fairy before speaking again.

"We were never a team..."

After giving away Dia like It was nothing, Shizuka took out another item for the mouse to have...It was food, Ink food, which she gave to the mouse. "Have this as well...In case your hungry, I feel sorry for you being In this vent." She said to the Mouse before speaking again, now that she has given two Items to the mouse...It was time for him to move, and even repay her.

"I've gave you two things So...Are you going to just leave or are you going to tell me where the main control room Is before leaving?"

Iris just sort of casually slipped underneath the desk with Vector, producing some items from her non-existent pockets... Wait, what? Was her dress a hammerspace dress or something? Questions better left unanswered aside She had a couple of bottles of what appeared to be a very fancy perfume, a bag of dragonite, a pair of whimsical stars, an ore club, two fairies, some of Mama Hippo's pineapple cookie's, an entire eight-slice cake--seriously what?! ...and two pokeballs that had been identified and labeled as containing a suicune and a kyurem respectively. She had quite a few items on-hand, but one had to question whether any of them would be particularly useful in this specific situation.

"Princess Peach loaned me some of these to make sure I stayed safe..." Iris would murmur after showing off her haul. One could only surmise which items the princess had deigned to give her. "I think I can smell the egg bots. I'll keep my nose up and try to warn you if I smell any of them coming~" Iris would remark. They'd doubtlessly have an advantage using her nose instead of their eyes, as Iris could sniff for the robots without ever leaving a hiding space, let alone revealing herself. On cue, her nose twitched a bit as she quickly rechecked her surroundings to see if she could smell something any stronger than she had before, indicating that it was getting closer. How much stronger the smell got would tell Iris how quickly the robots were moving, a detail that might become important later.

The Mouser took the two trinkets with a very gnarly smirk on his face. The squealing fairy was somewhat annoying, but hopefully the glass jar it was stuffed in would prevent it from being too loud. “Sheesh, you keep yammering like that and every bot in this place will know where we are” the rodent stated as he placed the fairy in his pockets. He didn’t know what the creature would be capable of doing, but he was sure that there was a market for annoying fairies somewhere, there sure was a ton of them so there was bound to be one.

The creature cracked his neck with a slight twist of his head and his feet began to jitter wildly. “Heh, what do you know, my feet are feeling better already. Well, I’m nothing if I ain’t a man of my word, you got one tour coming up” the vermin stated as he began to march forward through the tunnel. His movements ceased as the girl mentioned the control room. He spun around with his tiny pink finger in the air. “Ah, I see, you’re one of ‘em Gang Wars people. If it’s the control room you want, it’s not here. You see, Eggman made this vent system as a sort of trap for spy guys like you. Considering that you don’t got any burns on yah, I’m gonna take a guess that you didn’t take the right tunnel first. I know that there ain’t no vent leading to the control room because Eggman paid me to spread that bit of misinformation. That two items you gave me though, that really gets my little heart pumping, so I’m gonna get you to that control room anyway. A couple a’ K Rool’s goons paid me to spike that place before, so I got my own way there” the rodent stated as he went back to leading the way.

The crocodile began to brush the underside of his giant maw as he investigated the items that the little girl had on her. It was actually more than he was expecting to see considering the lack of pockets she appeared to have. Then again, it wasn’t like Vector had a better excuse considering that his only source of storage was his boots. Speaking of which, he dumped out just about every tool he had on him as well. Added to the pile was a Super Mushroom, a Barrel Cannon, Golden Hammer, two assist trophies (One for Kackle, the other for Mr. Resetti), a Tempura Bomb, Deku Nut, Twin Blades (which was useless to him), Smart Bomb, and a Soccer Ball.

Well, the first thing to do would be to eliminate the useless items. For now the healing items weren’t going to do them much good. The Smart Bomb would attract way too much attention. The perfume was also useless. The Super Mushroom would be the opposite of being helpful in this situation and he should probably pocket it again before someone accidentally activates it and blows their cover. Kackle and Resetti would make for good distractions. The Tempura Bomb and the two Pokeballs would be the most useful in this situation, all three of them would incapacitate any of the egg bot security guards.

During the time that Vector was piecing together a plan, the girl could pick up on the scent of the drones in the room. It would seem that the machines were moving as the fumes they were outputting were coming from different areas than before and for the moment it seemed that there was either two separate robots or two squads, it was difficult to determine the numbers without a visual cue.

After a few brief moments of plotting, the crocodilian hatched a brilliant little scheme. He very slowly but assertively lurched out from under the desk and began to put his big meaty hands to work on the computer in the work station. He handed the Tempura Bomb over to his colleague, with a brief set of instructions. “As soon as you smell them get close, throw that immediately.”

Without much issue, the Chaotix leader was able to hack his way into the terminal. While he was not exactly the tech expert of his rogue team of agents, he learned a thing or two from Espio. Not to mention that it was merely a company computer and wouldn’t exactly have as many fail safes as say the control room. With him being logged on to the computer he was able to get into the more basic programs, more importantly the text to voice program. “This unit requires assistance. This unit’s motor functions have failed” Vector typed, the voice output being near identical to the Egg Pawns.

Once the distress call had been made, Iris would be able to determine that the smell of the machines were getting much closer, both sources headed toward their cubicle. Vector ducked back down below the counter in order to hide himself from sight. In due time though, the smell of the metallic beings became very strong.

After basically giving away her companion and a piece of food to slavery, The Mouse revealed that the vent  the two were In was made just to trap spy's like Shizuka, she just looked at the mouse for a few seconds, she wasn't going to attack the little creature since It goes against her policy, but he quickly revealed that he decided to backstab Eggman due to the item's Shizuka gave him. "Oh...Thanks." She said to the Mouser as she followed the little mouse to where the control room was...Possibly.

While crawling...Or walking for the Mouse's prospective he said that Shizuka was apart of the gang wars and said that a couple of people working for K Rool asked for the directions as well. "Spike...What do you mean...Are people that are working for K rool In this tower and are trying to get to the control room also?" Shizuka said wanting to know If she has a couple of enemy's she's going to face soon.

Either way...She's prepared.

"I got weapons just In case."

Iris accepted the bomb, inspecting it for a moment to get a better view of how to use it. So she just... threw it? Seemed good enough for her. Iris' nose wrinkled as she waited. To be honest, she loathed the smell of all this technology. Especially the smell of oil. She was a girl that greatly appreciated her fresh air, and couldn't really be happy without it. Thus, the contaminated air elicited a frown from her. She withheld her disgust, however, as she wasn't so distressed by the smell that she would forget the importance of stealth. When the smell began to make Iris' nose curl upwards with distaste, at the last moment, the girl would abruptly scramble to leap from her hiding space and turn on the robots, turning upon them rather promptly and whipping the active bomb at their robotic faces.

"...Is it supposed to make me want to eat them?" Iris would ask in response to seeing the tempura bomb's effects. She had no objection to edible enemies, in all honesty, but it seemed like an unusual effect for a bomb. either way, she was preparing to run away instead. Eating the shrimpbots didn't seem like a good use of their time.1d20+1

The rodent’s journey came to a halt as they reached a point where the wall of the vent seemed a bit more flimsy, as though it had been torn off a couple times in the past and then plastered back on very sloppily from the inside. The tiny buck teeth marks could probably give a very easy clue that it was done by the rat that should before Shizuka. The Mouser stroked his chin at the teenager’s words when she more or less asked for info on the crew he worked with in the past, most importantly if they were still in the building. “Nah nah nah” he answered simply as he shook his head. “The last time I blew ol’ Rollie Pollie’s control room up was… Eh, maybe a year ago. They were some scarecrow looking guy and a dame that looked like Peach, but wore yellow instead. Actually, come to think of it, I think that Black Sonic looking guy with the spiked up hair might’ve been in cahoots with them. I dunno, it was a long time ago, and it was hardly the weirdest clientele I’d worked for. I mean, a couple weeks before that job I was working for this weird purple starfish guy with a big booming voice.”

During the rat’s reminiscence toward his past assignments, he was making quick work of the rickety wall. He very carefully dug his fidgety fingers underneath the already torn metal and began to shift it in a way that would loosen it and eventually allow him to slide it out of the way. “Ah, there we go” the critter sighed as he placed his hands on his hips. Once the task was complete, he hopped down into the space between the walls. It was an easy task for him considering his size, but Shizuka might have to get a bit creative in order to squeeze through the structural beams. Not to mention that the gap between the outer wall and inner wall was only slightly wider than her own body. Luckily the journey so far had proven she wasn’t claustrophobic.

“Oh right” the Mouser stated as he turned around. “Them planks of wood might give yah some problems. I don’t think they’re all that important to keep this place together, so hack away at them if yah feel the need.”

The two Egg Bots acting as security guards eventually bumbled their way over to the cubicle the duo were currently residing within. They both came from different directions, so luckily for them they had the minimum amount of security possible, which made sense considering that the rest of Eggman’s workers were probably filling out the bulk of his army at the moment. The duo of robots were rather confused about the fact that their co-worker hadn’t said anything since they arrived, so they began to inch closer to the opening of the workspace only to be surprised attack by a little girl with a handful of sweet tempura shrimp. When the bizarre bomb smacked against one of the machine’s chassis it erupted into a cloud of smoke and once the two were revealed once again they’re metallic bodies were reduced to something a bit more… Fishy.

“Intruder Alert! Initiating Lockdown procedures!” The machine wailed as it waddled in place. “Error code 471: Internal CPU has been reduced to shrimp” the robot turned giant walking tempura stated rather blandly.

The very moment that the crocodile heard his plan had gone perfectly into motion he rolled out from under the chair and leapt over the cubicle’s wall in order to get the drop on their defenseless foes. “Take’em out before the effect wears off!” Vector commanded. “Heh heh heh, let’s get Chaotic, c’mon girly” he announced in a glorious manner that would inspire most into a happy bloodlust.

That was wonderful news, as it meant she no longer had to resist the hungerlust. Frankly, she hardly needed the encouragement from Vector's battlecry. Battlelust might as well be her middle name for how often it came up. ...Could battlelust be her middle name? Could you just change your middle name to things you were proud of? Was that a thing? Iris kind of doubted it. Maybe it wasn't actually her middle name, but considering the frequency of which she experienced it, it would be thematically appropriate if it was.
