Metal Sonic stayed hidden for a moment until his sensors picked up something behind him. It was so well hidden he almost did not notice it... Or the fact it was going to go off right now. The normal person probably would of been shot right there but fortunately the copy was just as fast if not faster than the original. The duplicate proved this by curling into a ball and quickly rolling out of the way.

The girl seemed busy trying to recover. Now was the time to make a dash for the wall. She did not matter to the mission after all. His mission was to bring down this Kremling's base... That was until Metal Sonic sensed vibrations underneath him and he was picking increasing heat... Well, that was not a good sign. Would appear the other was being way too destructive. Fortunately, the robot was floating a little above the building but this was going to blow his cover. He had no doubt in that... Okay, Plan B. Metal Sonic jumped into the air above the next building and quickly dashed forward and to the ground. He knew this would draw attention to him but he felt prepared and fast enough to evade anything that came at him... Though he did make sure to avoid being near anything he identified as traps.1d20+5

As the Reploid bounded away from the battlefield, her walkie talkie rung with K Rool’s voice yet again. “Back up!? We’re getting slau- hoooooo, very well” the Kremling King sighed. It would seem that he then attempted to muffle the sound of the microphone by placing his hand over it, but his attempts at muting did not seem all that successful due to the loudness of his voice. “KLUMP! I need you to take to the westward wall and assist Bash!” The volume then reverted back to normal. “Your back up will be there in the merest of moments. K Rool out.”

The pyromaniac tactic that Krexix had gone for seemed to be working out in his favour. That is, if his intention was to fill the suburban arena with smoke and soot. Since most of the home owners had fled (being the center point of a war was apparently unappealing to some people, can’t imagine why) and the huts being made from either starship hulls (due to the Life Sphere’s main resource hub being the Sector X Meteorite Field) or rickety wood, causing a massive fire was not the most difficult thing in the world. Although, some buildings were not as effected as others (due to starship hulls not making for the best kindling).

K Rool spoke no lies though, the moment had become mere and the rotund reptile had revealed himself onto the battlefield, exiting the roof hatch and quickly waddling over to the secondary battlefront before he could be roped into the primary one. He held his helmet in place so that it didn’t fly off from the… intense speed he was moving at. Once he reached the edge though, his eyes went buggy as he noticed the flash fires. “Uh, sire didn’t say nothin’ about this!” Klump spattered in shock, either to himself or Ashe if she was still nearby. Either way, he slapped himself to try to focus better on the battle itself and attempted to seek out whoever it was that invaded their territory… Outside of the armies trying to ram their way through both their front and back door.

He thought he could see something moving through the smoke, but he wasn’t quite certain of it. It really could be anything down there, but he supposed lobbing a grenade in that direction first and asking questions later seemed like a smart plan.

As Kremling luck would have it though, his grenade throw was completely off. From his vantage point he couldn’t quite tell, but unless Krexix or Metal Sonic actively made an attempt to push themselves closer to the explosive they would most likely remain unharmed. “Let’s go see if I got me something!” Klump loudly announced as he hopped down from his perch and made his way into the thick of the battlefield, smoke and all.

His boots neatly collided with the ground, however, he didn’t realise until after he landed that he managed to land squarely on the big red dot that Metal Sonic had spotted earlier. His eyes gazed upon the very… unoriginal trap design and he quickly flinched. After a few seconds though, he remained unscathed. His eyes peaked open and he looked at his body in shock that he didn’t explode or something. “Huh, I shoulda guessed that. Sire planted that there to fake out the enemy, a genius tactic!” the soldier praised and then continued his march into the unknown.

Unfortunately for Klump, he had to find out the hard way that it was indeed intentionally designed to fake out the enemy, only so that they could think they were safe by not touching the red circle. The moment he took a step at the one meter mark from the circle, a much bigger explosion erupted, the source being directly underneath him. The ground was shook asunder, a small mushroom cloud forming at the ground zero, the shockwave being so immense that…

(Explosion: 8, c’mon…)

It could slightly singe the two combatants in the area (20% damage), but it clearly wasn’t rigged well enough to do a ton of damage to those within a farther radius.

When the eruption quelled though, it revealed a collapsed tunnel where the makeshift arena once was. Those with a good ear probably would have picked up on a monstrous roar that echo alongside the bomb blast, a roar that Klump of all Kremlings would definitely not be heard making. In addition to that, the rubble within the revealed tunnel had a maroon stained arm poking out of it. Resting next to the monstrous arm was the nearly dead Klump, holding onto not reverting back into a trophy as hard as he could.

Ashe was seriously startled by the sound of an explosion. Oh hey, someone set off the trap! She wondered which one of her enemies had fallen for it. Yet, as she moved out from behind her little nook of cover to see what became of the arena, she was ...disappointed, to say the least. Her backup was gone, her traps were tapped. The fourteen-year-old was not feeling good about any of this, especially her inability to help the fallen klump. The obese creature was a bit more than she could be relied upon to move. What did she even say to that dude? You tried, now try not to die? The dispirited teen settled for turning her attention back on the battle at hand.

Seeing Metal Sonic as he bounced around, Ashe promptly attempted to snipe him out of the air with one of her reflect shots! The power shot ought to put a dent in his approach.

She then, seeing no reason not to, pressed the turret button while she was busy surveying her surroundings. First, her eyes locked onto Metal Sonic, before she trailed her gaze off towards the rather attention-grabbing fires and spotted a second target. It turned out that cover couldn't stop Ashe from seeing people. It also couldn't stop her from shooting them. What a twist! Ashe gave one of her laser shots a quick spin, it's barrels firing off a series of little bursts of plasma that would phase straight through walls without warning or consequence as they tracked down their targets. Perhaps they wouldn't even see the attacks coming.

Perfect. The dark smoke wafting into the air was doing just as he'd hoped. No new shots of cannons or lasers were pelting into his back as he scurried his way through the cramped building spaces. However, perhaps it was working a little too well. Smoke was hanging in the streets, making his eyes burn a little as he managed the heated pathways, and the fires were guided down specific concentrated paths thanks to the metal plates randomly strewn through the hobbled houses. His only solace was he was familiar with the increased temperature so wasn't immediately wearing down. Still, though, the smoke wasn't going to be good in the long term.

Thankfully the haze clouding the vicinity was at least doing its job. A loud clang and laser fire sounding in the distance over the crackling of fire. The force of a small explosion pelted debris from behind him, causing a rush of heat billowing down the cross street. Another building crumpled. A pleased smirk found its way on Krexix's face as he continued slowly through the tighter streets toward the wall. Though, it was very short lived.

A resounding 'boom' erupted in the next moment from not that far away. The area shuddered violently at first, more structures being beaten to the ground as the latter seemed to wretch from under Krexix's feet. Surprisingly its bark was a lot worse than its bite. The buildings surrounding him were absorbing most of the force crashing through, leaving the alien with but a disorienting tremor and flood of hot air. Krexix staggered back as the remnants of the explosive force raged by, leaning against the building next to him. The heated plate metal of its side gave an uncomfortable singe to his taloned fingers but otherwise he was unphased by the event.

The spiny needles bristled slightly along his back as he refocused on his mission. He couldn't just follow the spreading fire forever, as its spread was going to become rather unpredictable with all these explosions being thrown around. The dash ahead in particular was rather clear, for now. Krexix readjusted his grip on the BFG, nostrils flaring as he stepped away from the building, but before he could go for it ghostly bullets streamed through the building beside him. A stroke of luck it was that he'd moved. The first was easy to avoid since he was already prepped for motion, however, he was incorrectly positioned for the second that popped into view shortly after. It even seemed to curve toward him as some sort of homing shot. The attack slapped him in the shoulder, but caused nothing more than a angry grunt as his focus was already set on the third incoming. With a low snarl Krexix dove out of the way, rolling to a stand and breaking into another mad dash for the wall. There was no telling whether those homing shots would eventually come back around or if they would dissipate before then, but either way sitting still hadn't even been a good idea against this foe. She seemed to be the perfect one for her position with all her bouncing shots and range. K Rool was at least smart in that respect.


With his smokey cover being left behind Krexix activated his camouflage once again, though he didn't want to keep it active for as long as normal thanks to the temperature rise in the area already. Last thing he needed was to overheat. His natural stealth technique flickered in as he ran away from his last known position, all the while charging up a shot on the gun in his hands. After a ways he threw his shoulder against what looked to be a stable-ish building and poked his head around to spot the high hovering female robot. At least she was easy to find; though the smoke filtering into the air was beginning to lightly obscure vision up there. He aimed the BFG 9000 and fired two shots before moving once again, though, the gaping hole now visible off to the side was a bit of a concern. Especially the giant arm-like shape resting at ground level. What could that be?
