The hateful glow of the comet was shrouded behind the trees, the farmstead ahead was only barely visible from the thicket and the decrepit ruins therein. One could hear the groaning of a thousand bodies behind the brief weald, that small patch of dead trees, turned blue by the roots which sipped the unearthly power within the very ground. They were alive with deadly anger, something... evil. It was as if this very land was alive with the Comet's will, and whatever was beyond these old gates were ready and waiting for the encroaching team to approach. Perhaps those brave souls would be emboldened by this presence, or terrified.

Whatever the case was, the stage is set, and the people who signed their names to this suicide mission wouldn't be wise to abandon now, nor would they be foolish to step to the plate, in search of those shards to embolden their bodies and steel their tools of war, whatever they are.

The sound of a single propeller could softly be heard as Bowser Jr approached the entrance to the Farmstead, Clown Car hovering swiftly over the ground. As he drew near to the gate, he started to slow down, almost having a change of heart about this whole thing, but the thought of the treasure that was at the end of this kept him rooted to the spot, so to speak. Perhaps when his allies showed up, things would feel a bit better.

The fox that was on his baseball team, Arrow, he thought his name was,  had called him up, inviting him to come exploring this place with him. He had also said that he was bringing along a couple of his friends. Jr had no objections, but it looks like he was a bit early. Settling down into is Clown Car for now, Jr waited for the others to show up.

As if on cue, the sound of an Arwing landing nearby, the loud noise almost causing Jr. to fall out of his Clown Car. After a few minutes, another fox, a vixen this time, walked toward Jr. She was taller and more slender then Arrow, also with blue fur. Before Jr could make sense of all this, the vixen reached out her hand for a handshake. 

"Hello there. My name is Krystal. You must be the person that Arrow was telling me about." Krystal greeted. "Bowser Jr, right?"

"Yeah" Jr. replied, although he ignored Krystal's outstretched paw. He admittedly felt safer wit her around, but he still wanted the others to show up. "The others aren't here yet. We should wait for them"

Running up towards the area, Arrow's cloak billowed out behind him as he raced towards the meet up point, he knew that he was going off on a new adventure. It was another chance to not only help Li, but to put forth his skills towards a positive goal, what more could he wish for? As his eyes focused, the blurring landscape of the farmstead came into a steady view as he turned on his heels and managed to slow his speed by adjusting his posture. Showing keen balance, his five tails widened and caught some air, helping him to come to a clean stop as his cloak settled down against his back. With the hood slowly slipped back, the blue-green bangs became visible as he stepped towards two familiar faces that he'd seen. Bowser Jr. he'd started to know from Baseball practice and Krystal? From his last adventure! Seeing the two faces he knew present? Excited him greatly, enough that the fox hopped over to the two with a giddy expression on his face. "Krystal! Bowser Jr.! It's wonderful to see you both, by gosh what good fortune that we're teaming up for this, huh?" his face remained lit with brightness and as his tails swayed behind him, his gathered gear briefly rattling as he adjusted his stance. Keeping his tunic steady as he arched his back and whisked his tails around idly. Stopping before the pair,  he remained positive with his enthusiasm. "We'll take down whatever we come up against, first there was three of us and now? There's four, I don't see how we can be stopped!" he said this with a big smile, being pretty upright about this.

Down from the ominous skies above came the heroic call of a Loftwing, off the back of which a dashing, daring and devilishly handsome deed-doer of daring do dove down. Regretting the decision immediately upon getting a better look at where he was falling off, he realized he didn’t want to land anywhere near a place this creepy. This was a realization too late, and he realized this realization too late for he had already-
-THUD!


“....Uhh…Where am I?” Groose groggily asked as he staggered back upright. Perhaps he’d like to savour the fleeting moments when he was more disoriented than scared.
“Hey is that...?” His face lit up upon noticing Arrow before noticing the ominous trees or the farmstead ahead.
“Arrow! How’s it swinging you big old ball of floof?” Groose jovially greeted the fox by scooping him up by the shoulder and noogying him right on the noggin. “And Krystal you’re here too-”“ He looked ahead to recognize Krystal as well before noticing the third anthro there.
“Krystal Look Out!” He quickly tackled the vixen away from Bowser Jr.
“It’s one of those…Copper Troopers!” He pointed at the Koopa Kid in alarm.
“What’s he doing here? He probably kidnapped that prince we came to help!” He quickly presumptuously deduced.
“Well don’t worry, I’ll take care of ‘em! And then we’ll save the prince and be graciously rewarded by his beautiful sister!” He stood bravely between Arrow, Krystal and Bowser Jr.
“Hmm…This one has spikes on it’s shell so Jumping on it’s not an option…” He examined Bowser Jr up and down thinking of his battle strategy out loud.

Before the folks of this fine group could get comfy, or before the red haired maniac could properly assault that juvenile Koopa, it seemed the very ground trembled and shook. A secondary sphere grew over the Farmstead, rapidly sealing the team inside! Touching the barrier with all four would let them out, but what fun would it be to let them escape so easily without a bit of combat? Unluckily for them, the denizens of this decrepit farmstead were already encroaching upon them. Five in total. The shambling, rocky husks of life groaned and screeched, signaling the entire, unholy earth that this place was now being invaded by heroes... And a villain, if you count Jr.

The team was now faced off with four Farmhands, and a Foreman!

This wasn't to say these monsters weren't prepared either! The Foreman raised his mighty whip, striking the farthest forward Farmhand in the back, causing the unearthly groan to turn into a shrill screech. The others formed a defensive bulwark around their leader. "Hyuh yuh huh! Reckon these ol piggies wanna squeal! Git 'em, ya maggots! Them friggin fleshies ain't gettin near the Dreamer!" the foreman shouted. The Farmhand near the front looked bolstered, and angry, he was buffed! The farming tools they wielded, those plows, were composed of what looked to be wood turned to stone! Their glowing bodies and levitating forms shambled towards Junior and Groose, attempting to strike them with their farming tools!

Before Groose could figure out a way to knock Bowser Jr out from below, an ominous sphere grew over the already quite ominous farmstead.
“Eek! Wha-what’s going on?” Groose shrieked, finally noticing the creepy world around him getting creepier. “What’s That?” He quivered at the dome that appeared overhead. “What are those things?” His attention was brought down to the encroaching Farmhands and Foreman.

“I see what’s happening here!” Groose quickly figured it out. “You summoned them here!” He pointed an accusing finger at Bowser Jr. “You’re not a Copper Trooper at all! You’re one of those... Lack-a-Tooths!” Well it was quick for Groose anyway. “It all makes sense now! That funny looking white thing you’re riding in is some kinda cloud!” Figuring this out was a brief stat buff to Groose’s ego and his new courage in staring down the Foreman and Farmhands showed it.

“So we gotta beat these guys first to beat you, huh?” He deduced as he cracked his knuckles. “Let’s Go then!”

Krystal withdrew her hand, noting the attitude that the young Koopa prince had. But he still had a point. They needed everyone else here before they could go anywhere. So, relaxing a little, she and Jr waited for the rest of their team to show up.

And they didn't have to wait long, for only after a few minutes did they hear the sound of Arrow running up the path, his cloak billowing behind him, Krystal couldn't help but break into a grin at the sight of the other fox, and even Bowser Jr. couldn't help but smile at his presence. "Arrow! It's great to see you again" Krystal said. "Yeah" Jr. echoed as he maneuvered over to his old teammate. The young fox was just as brightly optimistic as ever, and that put both of their worries at ease for a while

Both of them looked over Arrow's shoulder at whatever had just fallen from the sky. Jr looked thoroughly confused, but Krystal smile took on a more bemused look as Groose got to his feet "And it's good to see you again too, Groose."

Before Krystal or Arrow could introduce the new face to him, however, Groose started yelling about a 'Copper Trooper', causing Jr to both sigh in exasperation and flare his temper a little. "What are you talking about? I'm supposed to be working with you, idiot! And what prince are you talking about, I'm the only prince here!" Jr. snapped at Groose. "Groose, this is Bowser Jr. The son of Bowser, King of the Koopas." Krystal introduced, hoping to defuse the confusion. Before they could clarify the situation anymore, Krystal heard a low moaning coming from beyond the gate. Looks like they had company.

"P-piggies?" Jr. stuttered when he heard the Farmhand's insult. He looked down at his bulging little belly, and sunk down a little lower into the Clown Car. "It's...not that bad...." he said sheepishly. If one looked closely they could see Jr blushing with embarrassment. After a few moments, Jr. regained his composure and joined the fight, getting out of the way of the two Farmhands attacking them.

As Arrow looked on, first smiling until he saw Groose in action, he blinked in confusion and tilted his head to the side. His expression reading 'Eh, what happened?' At least until Groose spoke. It was a misunderstanding! Bowser Jr. was a Prince, but he wasn't a bad sort, certainly not now! It was of course dependent upon situation. Arrow was not one to judge by prior allegiances or alignments, he'd never been at odds with him, and thus? He sided with that in mind here. Especially since Krystal and Bowser Jr. were not enemies, they'd all come to attend this mission together. "Uh...hey Groose, he's not a bad guy, really! We play baseball and stuff together, he's pretty amazing!" well Arrow just thought the world of his new friends. Of course now, his focus on his didn't last. Especially as soon as he witnessed the wrong side of the line at work, a stranger bringing the odd, undead looking guys around. He didn't know if they were, as it didn't matter any longer, especially since his friends were suddenly being targeted by these creatures. 

He had only to see it before he bared his teeth and tensed, preparing himself to respond and quickly at that. All he needed was a moment of an open point to strike and he saw it; as the farmhands attacked his friends, he wen to work deciding how he'd be striking and quickly at that. Seeing the attacks as instantaneously as they came, he witnessed the slow moves of the farmhands in question. He looked on and let off a small growl, rich in his throat at the sight of the men, he hadn't felt angry in a fair while, it was a rare thing for him to entreat. But the farmhands and their leader were certainly inviting it especially with the aggressive response and for what he saw as nothing. They had to be stopped, and as Arrow drew up his tonfa pair outward and whipped them out rapidly before he started spinning them both. Before long, he was already on the move: having planned how to attack the first of his targets. Utilizing his sharp eye, he moved towards the foreman and was holding back his attack, right until he was upon the man, his hands clenching around the bound handles of his weaponry. Keeping silent as he rushed in, a flick of both of his tonfas in the direction of the Foreman he'd chosen, only showing his anger once it was too late for the Foreman, in terms of range between them.

"I'll teach you to attack my friends!" he said with a hiss as he whisked his green glowing tonfas a hard swing from both the left and the right, in a downward X-like fashion.

The two Farmhands targeted by Groose, the first two anyways, were scrambling slowly to evade the incoming hero. Their unearthly grunts and gutteral cries only grew in volume as they realized they only can roll a 1d11 to dodge Groose struck home on the first one, turning it into a pile of ash, dust, and blue crystals. It was almost as though the second one knew its fate, throwing its arms out to its sides, and absorbing the Fatal blow from Groose with little regret. What would come later would prove its intentions. The third, as well, faced its end without resistance.

With nothing to target, and the fares of time constantly shifting, it seemed the Foreman was now the target of Krystal's attacks, considering Bowser Jr's charging attack shattered the last Farmhand. As the foreman moved backward, he attempted to dodge the first swing by bringing his whip up to parry the incoming blow...

As the staff crashed through his whip, and the next two critical blows struck home, the Foreman was sent reeling backward, trying to gain his floating composure before the startling screaming in anger of Arrow leaped from behind him. He frantically weaved and moved, attempting again to get away from Arrow's angry attacks.

The first two hits the Foreman weaved away from, and leaped backward, only taking the last hit to the guts, falling over in a crumpled pile. Lifting himself angrily upward, and waving his whip around maniacally, he squealed and screamed for reinforcements, who weren't far behind from the Foreman at all. Another, half the size of the last, wave of Farmhands, another Foreman, and a Scarecrow joined the battle!

"Bugdibtagedabadawdu!"
"Hyuk hyuk yuk! Let's do that! I got dibs on the lil piggies legs! The must be big 'n' FAT under that there floatin' car!"
"WHEEEW! PIGGEHPIGGEHPIGGEH!"

As the warriors of the Comet drew their tools back up, the corpses of the four Farmhands turned into crystal masses! It was obvious this as the result of not disposing of their bodies properly, as to either scatter the dust into a thin enough sheet to prevent it from clumping, or if they could burn it altogether. The team would need to figure this out for themselves.

The two Farmhands were already moving into battle, their plows held high and dropping them from their raised positions at Arrow this time, now that he was out in the open..! Those dastardly zombies were trying to crack his skull open with their pitifully weak attacks.

The foremans, realizing that their thralls were already moving to attack sprang an idea. The first of the two diverged off, whipping his well, whip, out at Krystal, trying to strike her with the blighted tip of the weapon in order to inflict her with a virulent sickness!

As for the other foreman, he twirled his whip out into a lasso, and slung it at Bowser Junior! The spikes on the inside look like they'd hurt a lot if they caught poor Junior in them, and their cannibalistic intentions clearly meant that if he was caught, they were surely going to start biting into his little body! "C'mere pork drippins! I'mma eat your little darn legs! Turtle anyone?!"
"HOOOWEE! BIDAGDIGBAURGUBUGUBURH!"

The scarecrow loomed ominously, preparing itself for an attack before crystals shot from its head, sending an eerie gleam at Arrow. If the gleam hit, then Arrow would receive a disturbing vision from beyond the void's veil. The end fight. The Comet. Doppelgangers. Death. It was projecting the means of an end to his poor brain!

As the Farmhand exploded into dust, Jr started to shake himself off when her heard the Foreman's chatter toward him. Now that was just mean, Jr thought. Just because he was a little bigger then usual doesn't mean that he should just stand up for that. In fact.....

...if they were going to make fun of his body, they might as well see all of it. As the Clown Car crashed into the ground behind him, Jr landed on the ground, his belly  jiggling a little from the impact. If was clear just by looking at him that he wasn't the healthiest Koopa around. His stomach stuck out about 3 inches more from his frame then it usually did, and his bandana, which used to reach down to his legs, only reached to around where his navel would be,if he had one. Overall he looked rather plush. However, just cause he looked unhealthy, didn't mean he was a sitting duck. "Your right that I might look a bit....chunky" Jr said "But that doesn't mean I'll be an easy meal!"

Pulling his pudgy body into his shell, blocking the sharp prongs of the Foreman's whip in the process, Jr took aim at the other Foreman. If he could help bring down the leaders, the others should fall pretty easily.

Meanwhile, Krystal nailed the weak spots of the first Foreman, and quickly moved back before his whip could scratch her.

As the whip whistled past her, Krystal decided that a more ranged approach would probably be best. So instead of trying to strike the Foreman again, she whipped around to face the second Foreman, and, after charging up her staff, let loose a blast of fire into the Foreman's face.

“Ha! Now let’s see Link top that!” Groose sneered at no one in particular, sheathing his sword satisfied at his score. “And now, you-” Groose began before being interrupted by Bowser Jr, Krystal and Arrow telling him the truth.
“…Nice try Lack-a-tooth, but that’s exactly what you’d want me to believe-” He scoffed before Krystal explained. “K-k-King of the-But then he’s Gotta be the bad guy-” He gasped before being explained to by Arrow.
“…Oh.” Groose panted dumbfounded. Well if Arrow said that about him it must be true. But Working for the Prince of the Koopas who’s not a bad guy? Nothing in this self-contradicting situation made sense. Groose needed a moment to think long and hard about the life decisions which had lead up to this point.

By the time Groose had finally come to a decision, the Koopa Clown Car was already crashed and exploded.
“I’ve made my decision!” Groose turned to announce. “I, the Great Groose, Knight of Skyloft, hereby pledge my interim allegiance to thee for this mission, Prince of the Koopigs-I mean Koopas.” Groose addressed Bowser with a knightly kneel.
“…You’ve at least got a hot sister, right?” That depends… You into big bows and bracelets?

Arrow could feel it, the rush of battle running over him as he gripped his knuckles firmly, drawing back as his sense opened up once again. He'd almost become lost in trying to hit the foreman, fortunately for him he managed to overcome the rushing blood and his anger. His eyes widened and narrowed upon those rushing him and with a breath that he let loose his body loosened up and became ready for dodging.

There were no jibes, no taunts about the success of his dodge, just a quick half step backwards to avoid the move. He'd dodged the attack with relative ease and kept his eyes on the second of the farmhands. After his body had been moved to the right of the attack, Arrow put himself in a prime placement for a controlled second dodge. He had to avoid as much damage as he could here. It was the only way that he'd be helping his friends!

From his controlled posture, the fox applied pressure to his right heel to push off and shoot himself to the left of the second farmhand. Managing that second dodge with some convincing action, he begun to gather some flares of foxfire on his tails. With his intent to start his attack after he'd finished avoiding trouble, he did realize that he underestimates how many foes were targeting him. As he dodged the initial two but only just realized that a third was also looking his way. "Crap!" was the last thing he got out before attempting to avoid the next attack aimed his way.

Unfortunately Arrow could not be prepared for dodging out the crystals after the mental gleam took his mind. For the moment his mind was fed the horrors of loss, death, an ending...loss. He froze up, shivering under the mental duress of the moment, badly enough that he collapsed to his knees. Presently at a loss for will to do anything, this complete unpreparedness proved his present undoing. How did one go about snapping out of such a thing? He was almost glued to the spot by the sheer pressure of the images. On his hands and knees, he'd all but slumped down without a hope in his heart, it was desperately the opposite of what he normally beamed with. He certainly was in need of hand at this point.1d20·1d20·1d20

Foreman 1 had neglected to realize Here Piggy Piggy restricted his movement, and he only ended up snaring that car! Pulling it in, it nailed both Foremen at once! Foreman one exploded into dust, leaving the chub to not really have much to say to anyone else except the dust and what was once Foreman 2's jabbering, now coherent words. He got up, cackling and laughing from the dizzying blow he was delivered by his ally. A quick turn revealed that pulling that car in the center had... Oh snap. It hit the scarecrow and the Farmhands before they could advance! The searing fires caught everything in its grasp, including the other such explosions as the dust ignited, sending all the attacked Foremen, Scarecrow, the aberrations, and even the farmhands into a fiery blaze that shook the countryside with an unreasonable blast. Jr really took a blasting hit on that.

With the lands cleared, the dust settling, and now... silence for once. Before that long, the ashes reformed into something large, but... strangely shifted in color, like the green on Junior's shell. The Dreamer's Nightmare arose! Given the aberrations couldn't heal their targets, incidentally, the power charged the Dreamer's Nightmare, who produced an audible giggle, like that of a woman.

Clink tink tink clink! (Thank goodness I found the right timeline! Hello again, Prince Bowser Junior, Krystal, Noble Sir Groose of Skyloft, and Arrow my friend.) Tink clink clink shink clink! (I'm glad you're all okay! You may not know me, but a friend of your's named me The Dreamer's Nightmare!) Tink tink clink tink... (I was taken here by the comet's glow, and turned into a stupid rock! I'm not stupid I promise! Anyways! I'll take you all to a safe spot and explain what's happening!)

Her words were understandable by the group, and in a flash of light, she carried them all through to the next area! It was a safe haven, a small sanctuary where they could be sheltered from the howling and shrieking of the Farmhands and Foremen in the distance. A well earned respite.

The place, in truth, was in shambles, but the Dreamer's Nightmare seemed to have pulled the group away, rallying groans and shrill, bumpkin accented cries in the distance portrayed that DN indeed had used her powers to save them from their spree in the area. Now was the time to ask her questions, rest from the journey here, and gather their resolve. If the team felt their purses, pouches, pockets, pocket dimensions, or wherever they stored their items, they'd notice a small wealth of glittering shards. These were shards of the Comet, purified by The Dreamer's Nightmare for use in a special store. Seemed she really liked you all!

As Jr rushed to attack the Foreman, what he had expected to happen was to feel the impact of his shell against the shambling corpse. What he didn't expect was to be thrown in a completely different direction by the exploding clown car. Strange, Jr thought. The Clown car went in the complete opposite direction. How this happen? Soon coming to a stop as the explosion died down, Jr pulled himself out of his shell to survey the damage, barely even registering what Groose was saying to him. 

The damage was quite extensive, actually. Instead of the rotting, noisy zombies that had surrounded the group earlier, Jr only saw clouds of dust and ash. Peering through the ash, Jr could see Groose standing beside him, and Krystal standing a little farther off. They looked alright, although a little shaken. A little ways off from them, however...

"Arrow!" Krystal yelled as she ran to the side of the fallen fox. Stuck by a scene of unimaginable horror, Arrow had collapsed to his knees, his usual cheery and optimistic demeanor replaced with a look of despair. Krystal got down on her knees herself and took hold of Arrow's hand, giving him mental and emotional support. "Arrow, this isn't like you" Krystal said, hoping to talk him back to reality. "Whatever you saw, it wasn't real. You need to snap out of it and come back to us. Your friends" Grasping the other fox's hand, Krystal tried to pull him back to his feet, just in time to see the dust and ash form up into something small and round, shining green.

As Krystal and Jr watched the stone form fully out of the dust, a small but clear tinkling noise, almost like a laugh, echoed across their minds. "The Dreamer's Nightmare?" Jr asked. "Who-"

Before Jr finished speaking, the world flashed before their eyes, and in an instant they where in what looked like a ruined house. The Dreamer's Nightmare had transported them to a safe place, a gesture that wasn't lost on either Krystal or Jr. Once the Koopa prince got over the sudden shock of the rapid switch, he started speaking again.

"Where are we? Who are you? What is happening here?" Jr question rapidly. It seems like the atmosphere of the comet was getting to him a little. After a few seconds, the chubby prince did a double take. "Wait, Uncle Doomy? Who the heck is that?" Jr asked.

[Arrow Rinehart]

All came to a good finish, something that the fox's presently trapped mind could not yet fathom. The horrors of his mind had been raging through his thoughts, how many times had he seen death? Anyone could wonder, as it hit him right below the belt, in terms of weakness by imagery planted in his mind. While slowly left reeling by the mental blow, he could hear Krystal's voice, just faintly at first. He could hear that voice reminding him that this was beyond truth, it was a falsehood and by that part, it was one of the lowest shots to take with him. "Nuh..!" a sound came from the half kitsune as his eyes flickered, the foggy blue gaze found some more focus as he looked up. After a brief shake, the next set of lines seemed to set in stone with the fox, helping to rouse him from that nightmare. His eyes blinked a moment before he shifted forward, as if he were amid a dream, he felt himself drawn up by Krystal. As his eyes found focus, his wobbly knees gain fit for a firm basis. "...it is fake, we...we didn't lose, we can't lose like that." the many ways of the illusions cast on him left him a little shaken, but he was able to not only shake part of it off, but look at Krystal with conviction again. 

"Words can't convey my thanks, Krystal. I mean really, I could've been in some real trouble back there, so helpless and easily forgetting an important lesson. We did not lose and none of anyone is going down...I can't let that happen. Sorry about that back there, the last thing we need is me to lose sight of who I am. I owe you one!"  those words so honest, meaningful in terms of conveying his appreciation towards the blue vixen. His tails began to sway softly and were matched only by the smile on his face, it blossomed there and remained a fixture there! Though he was still a little foggy headed, he was going to come out of it completely, that and things had gone their way. He just needed to make sure that he  helped his friends to see that was a continuing trend! Thanks to Krystal's support and bolstering, he was back on his feet and starting to perk up, as he normally should!
