The sun was dipping its toes, almost ready to take a dip behind the mountains overlooking the Life Sphere. The angle of the impending dusk cast a long shadow over the local bath house on Brightwing Lane.
From the top most entasis down to the raised floor, the bath house was an elegant example of ancient Japanese architecture. All the more a shame to see it in its current state.
What was designed to be a place where the locals could engage in the eastern tradition of communal bathing and relaxing rejuvenation, was forced to shut its doors thanks to a lack availability of clean water.
Since then, the deserted building had dried up to a withered shell of its former self. Being left unused enabled it to be left unkept and it quickly sank into disrepair. The loose wooden panelling creaked and shivered in the wind as if the building itself were cold and in the need of a hot bath.

But times have changed since and like the literal setting sun, a figurative new day was about to dawn for the bath house. The water purification plant has since been purified and is once again up and running and that meant clean water could fill the bath house tubs once again.

And it was all thanks to a rather unorthodox plumbing team lead by a distinguishably moustached plumber wearing overalls and a cap. Yes, the one and only, Mr. Mario!
…Mr. Luigi Mario. Y’know, Luigi? The other one? The green one? The guy coming out of that pipe over there right now? See the L on his hat? Yes. That’s Luigi.

♫“We are the mushroom plumbers extraordinaire!”♫ Luigi hummed as he emerged from an old creaky pipe. Even the warp pipes to this place were in disrepair. At least his spirits were quite high this time, feeling nostalgic for the relaxation the soothing hot spring used to provide. ♫“The Super Mario Brothers, what a…” His humming came to an abrupt stop when he looked up and saw the state the bath house was in. “…What-a tugurio! What-a happened to this-a place?” Luigi gasped solemnly. “Foreclosure must’ve m-m-Murdered this-a place!” He shook his head mournfully.
“Well have-a no fear, Mr. Bath house, Luigi’s-a here, and he’s gonna get you piped right up in back in-a business!” Luigi proudly announced to the seemingly empty building.
Seemingly, that is until a faint and ominous moaning came from deep within the building’s bowels.

“…J-just as-a s-soon as m-my assistants show up.” a shivering Luigi reassured, cowering behind the pipe.

And right on cue, Ringo comes in with her own jingle.

"Repairing time~ Repairing time~ ♪
We've got a bath house to give some chime!

And maybe I'll spend some time to clear my mind~! ♪"

When was the last time Ringo saw one of these? Old-timey bath houses, while still a thing around Suzuran, aren't so common in the more urban parts of her home town. But seeing as there's one here in need of revitalizing, a place to relax could be a nice addition to the Sphere! A place to unwind from the constant tension sounds wonderful, and reminds the girl of her home. Ringo stretched herself out, took a look at the rundown place, and introduced herself to Luigi!

Frisk happily ignored Chara's comment on what she did, as Frisk slapped her forehead with her hand up to Luigi and Ringo, Brightly smiling. Frisk didnt seem to worry much over the sounds of ominousness inside, As Frisk seemed to just get more excited to meet more friends! "Plumber Frisk reporting for Duty sir! Ive dealt with ghosts before, so this shouldnt be much of a problem if you ask me. Most of the time they just make mixtapes and ask me to lay on the floor and space out, Or to race snails with him!" Frisk said, as Chara, Unbeknownst to Luigi and Ringo, circled around them, as if looking for weak spots.

"Oh, really? I thought Napstablook was the only one..."

“Phew. Heheh. It’s just-a you. P-Pleased to meet-a you Ringo and yep, it is.” Luigi chuckled embarrassedly, inching out to greet Ringo. “And it’s-a pronounced Loo-Ee-Geepers what was-a that?” Luigi, not fully calmed down yet jumped up and landed behind Ringo to hide from what turned out to just be Frisk skipping up singing a ditty of her own.
“Oh okay it’s-a just… Ehem, That’s-a nifty little jingle you were singing-a there. Mind if-a we use it?” He tried to recover, stepping out from behind Ringo to greet Frisk. “Saluto, Plumber Frisk! Pleased to have you on board!” Luigi saluted back. “Ghosts?!? Where?!?” He near instantly flipped on a dime into frantically looking in every direction before trying to calm himself down a third time. “I’m-a mean-a-aheheh, quite the imagination you got-a there. There aren’t any ghosties in-a there, even if it-a does look old, decrepit and undoubtably haunted. You can’t-a judge a Koopa by its-a shell.” He dismissed with a pat on her head. Luigi, there might be are a flaw in your analogy…

“Anyhoo, now that you’re both-a here, it’s-a time we got down-a to business.” Luigi nodded, turning around into his green tool chest. Luigi overheard Frisk’s comment about being a cutie and had to spend a moment longer in his chest just for his blush to go down. “Wh-why thank you. –S-so are you.”

“Now, Deputy Plumbers Ringo, Frisk, welcome-a to your first-a day of your Mario Bros Plumbing internship!” Luigi cleared his throat and stood up straight holding two items behind his back.
“It does-a my heart good to see a brand-new generation of-a little girls aspiring to join-a the ranks of the few, the proud, the Plumbers!” He admitted, wiping a tear even.
“But plumbing is-a more than just-a glamorous gig. We may be renowned for our strides in-a the field of economics, international conflict resolution, and-a medicine, but we truly wear our caps and overalls with-a pride because first and foremost: We help-a people…with their plumbing.” Luigi explained, proudly pacing back and forth like a commander briefing his troops. It seemed he was waiting a long time to pass this wisdom down.

“Contrary to-a popular belief, handling pipes is not exclusively a man’s-a job.” Luigi directly dispelled the myth. “It’s-a job for anyone with-a the courage to jump, even when-a the barrels are stacked against them! Anyone with-a the determination to reach for the top of-a the flag pole even though it-a looks like the level’s already over! And anyone with-a the moxie to slide down-a pipe no matter what-a sharp pointy teeth may be waiting on-a the other side! And anyone-a crazy to stare a flower dead in its-a eyes and say ‘Not only will I eat you, but I’m-a will then Shoot Fire From My Hands! Because I am a Plumber and That’s What-a Plumbers Do!” The passionate plumber battle cried with his gloved fist in the air. The resulting gust of motivational wind blew the bath house’s door open with a loud and creepy creak.

“…On-a second thought, anyone for Tennis?” Luigi sheepishly second guessed the whole thing. No, no Luigi what are you saying? You can’t lose face in front of your trainees. They look up to you! Literally.

“…Never mind, on third thought, it’s-a not safe, or sanitary, to go alone and empty handed, so here are some super cool Plumbing Tools!” Luigi took out a pair of question blocks and bumped two sets of three items out of them that landed in Ringo and Frisk’s hands.
“The standard issue plumber’s Hammer! For banging in nails and the occasional barrel.

Luigi introduced each as if they were sacred relics. “They may seem simple, but don’t be fooled: They’re easy to use but take just as much-a skill as any musical instrument or weapon to master.” He warned cautiously.

“Any questions?” Luigi opened the floor for last minute questions before venturing inside.
“I've got one, sonny!” An elderly voice echoed from inside the newly opened door. “Why don’t you come inside? It’s getting mighty dark out.” Looking back at Luigi the two girls would find him hiding behind them, the question quite clearly taking him off guard.

At least Ringo picked up on that quickly. None of that misnaming to be had this time! And it looks like there's another coming along the job, seeing Luigi hide behind her from being spooked. Frisk looks harmless at least-

WAIT, NEVER MIND. Mention of ghosts. If this place is haunted then Ringo's not going to have a good time. One person scared of ghosts is one thing, but two... this'll be fun. Chaotic. Terrible. Okay, now's not the time to start freaking out, mission briefing is in order. Ringo recollected herself to listen in on the details, learning about what plumbing's about. She feels like plumbing is one of Maguro's many mini-talents just hearing Luigi talk about what he does... And onwards to the tools of the trade!

"Uh-huh~ That sounds straightfoward enough. I think I can get into it."

There was a voice out of nowhere...It wasn't her, though.

Frisk seemed to tilt her head at the moral of Luigi's analogy. Yeah, Suppose he is right. Cant judge books by covers, If theres anything frisk's underground adventure told her! Frisk took the tools Luigi handed to her with slight curiosity as she struggled to find a spot on her person to hold such tools. Frisk thinks she saw her friends using one of these once or twice, so, She could get the hang of this in a jiffy! Frisk stuck the tools of a plumber in the line of her belt and Got ready to face the darkness!

That was until, Suddenly, a Mysterious voice came from the darkness, Beckoning them inside. Well how nice, They were inviting them in! Frisk smiled, Nodding and trotting in to go meet this mysterious friend that luigi seemed so scared of, Yet Frisk was all the happier to meet! "Were coming in Mister, Dont worry!" Frisk called out, as Chara merely glanced at Ringo and Luigi from her astral form behind Frisk. "Frisk, Just stay close to those two before you get yourself killed!" She demanded, But frisk seemed to care none the more. She was sure these ghosts just wanted a friend to come and help unclog the drains around here! Ghosts gotta poop too y'know.

However mildly annoyed Luigi was by Ringo making fun of his jumpiness was undone when she got his name right.
“Nohoho, I’m-a said there Weren’t any ghosties in there.” Luigi tried to reassure Ringo. He didn’t want to admit he would’ve refused the job if he thought there were.

“Come in, come in my children.” The voice beaconed from within the door. “Before you bump into the things that go bump in the night!” He added with a playful cackle.
“A-aafter you.” Luigi timidly offered Ringo to go in first, but clearly Frisk won the race inside.
Stepping through the door, she’d find a lone elderly Noki standing in the otherwise dim candle lit foyer.

“Wilkomen, bienvenue, welcome to this steamy oasis…that’s currently out of steam at the moment. Dreadfully sorry.” The owner welcomed in three different languages.
“What brings you three fine young things here at this hour?” He asked Ringo and Frisk with a peaceful smile.

“’Ello. We came because we got-a call to come and-a fix-” Luigi began to explain as he came through the door behind them.
“Who are you?” He tilted his head at Luigi with much less interest.
“We’re-a here to repair your plumbing.” He hastily finished his sentence.
“But I sent for a ‘Mario Brother’” the old Noki protested. “Why aren’t you wearing red?”
“B-Because it’s-a Me! I’m-a Mario’s Brother!” Luigi tried to hint by pointing at the L on his cap.
“…Lario?” The Noki squinted, still very much in the dark.
Luigi facepalmed so hard he couldn’t even correct him.

“Are you at least any good at plumbing?” the elderly Noki returned his attention to Ringo and Frisk to ask. “You sure seem equipped for the job.” He smiled at the tools around Frisk’s belt.
Luigi had just about gotten all the supplies through the door before the window blew it shut with a hard Thump that barely missed him.
“Allow me to show you around.” The Noki beaconed them to follow him past the front desk and into the lounge.

“As you can see our spiritual haven of cleansing and rejuvenation…is in dire need of cleansing and rejuvenation.” He wistfully sighed at the dry and decrepit state of the steam lounge. There were several dusty wooden lounge benches that circled around cold steam stoves. Except these stoves weren’t stoves, but pipes. Pipes with handles on the side that adjusted the pressure.
The pipes to each of these benches were connected in a network that went around the whole room.

“Our patrons used to bask together in the hot steam. It opened their pores, detoxed their skin and ironed out the stress of the day.” The owner explained. “Since they amount of detoxes decreased, we shut off the steam. However, before we can turn the steam back on…” He tapped on one of the pipes, which clanged with a metaling echo that sounded…incomplete, like the pipes weren’t a closed circuit. There were gaps.

“Hmm… Sound’s-a like the leadwork has come loose.” Luigi knowledgably deduced from the sound alone. “We could spend all night inspecting which links are wobbly, risking making new wobbles, or we could undo it all and redo it all and make sure it’s All safe at once.”

“So, what do you lassies think we should do about it?” the Noki asked, completely ignoring him.

Good. Good. There are no ghosts. Good for Ringo. Good for Luigi. This mission will go without a hitch hopefully. Welcoming the crew in is this...someone. Clearly old, but he looks harmless...and doesn't quite know Luigi. Ringo's never had siblings so she can't quite feel for Luigi's situation. Moving into the main shower rom, there's all sorts of inner workings that have seen better days. Ah, steamy saunas. A more modernized take here than what Ringo's seen, but it fufills the same duty. And rusted over pipes aren't going to hold up high pressure steam. And it's time to get started!

"I say we give the workings a full pass through. One missed spot will spell trouble for high pressure!"

Ringo grabbed a monkey wrench and got to work! It does take some elbow grease to make it budge a bit, but she got it moving!

“Hmm…Yes…That’s a beautiful idea!” The Old Noki applauded in agreement with Ringo. “Such an insightful head on this one’s shoulders.” He admired as he watched her go to work on the first pipe. He had a point, though; She was a natural for a first timer.

Frisk on the other hand, had a lot to live up to and it reminded Luigi of someone.
“Ey, that was-a pretty good.” Luigi encouraged Frisk. “But you might-a wanna try lifting it this-a way instead of that-a way.” He guided her arms to a more efficient grip on the monkey wrench and gave it a couple of turns.

“Some music and mood lighting candles.” The Old Man suggested enamored with Ringo’s wrist work.

Not much sooner than the music starting was it counter pointed by an ominous moan from deep within the bathhouse. This noise spooked Luigi, who jumped into Frisk’s arms as the lights flickered on and off.
Down from the ceiling dripped a thick blobby drop of goo that landed on the music block, short circuiting it, and turning off the music.
This blob of slime, now sentient and acting on its own volition, grew eyes and a mouth and slithered in Ringo’s direction.

“Waz it you, punk?” He squinted at Luigi. He looked enough like a plumber, so it had to be him!
“I-I’m-a” Before Luigi could even answer, the Fighter Fly, all too quick to anger took a swing at him.

And she doesn't have to because someone else is playing the music. As she was about to put in another turn, there was a groaning sound that made her a bit unnerved...What's going on in there? This is no ordinary pipe problem here...Are monsters infesting the inner pipeworks???

The shakiness in her voice was evident. Something is wrong. VERY WRONG. The flickering lights don't help! And then comes down a blob of goop.

A Puyo it is not! It's far too vicious-looking to be one, and it's spit out a lump of sludge on her! Her sweater is all gunked up, and she's looking a little pale from that. Nauseous? Poisons? She's not looking too well right now, and is looking shaky on her feet. Looking slightly weary, she held out a Flemming's right-hand towards the Slime to try and rid of it quickly. Working while sick is going to suck.

"Yeah, that fly guy's punch was a little off-- Lets coach 'em!" Frisk said, as Chara cackled. "Yes, Ye-- Wait, NO!!" Chara loudly screeched, but it was far too late now...

Its time to ACT!

The Slime was splattered and smeared across the room with each of Ringo’s Sines. In its sloppy puddled form, dodging Ringo’s Cosine came easy to it. Quickly assimilating itself back together, the Slime got another look at Ringo.
With vision much poorer than that of a Puyo, the Slime hadn’t recognized the lovely yellow of Ringo’s sweater until after it spat a wad of gunk at her. To spit at her wasn’t enough. It wanted that sweater for its own! The Slime slithered up and proceeded to attempt to tackle the weary nauseous Ringo and engulf her in its gelatinous form.

“At-a girl, Frisk!” Luigi thumbed up mid-fight with the Fighter Fly. “Oof!”

Luigi successfully rolled out of the Fighter Fly’s fist, leading its attention to notice the Frisky Shadow Flail. This caught him off guard and garnered his attention. “…I gotta confezz you got zome zpunk in ya little mizzy.” The Fighter Fly chuckled, amused at the display.

Taking this opportunity, Luigi snuck away from the Fighter Fly and tried to help Ringo out.

Ringo got worried about actually finishig it off if they still move like this, thinking there's no real way to finish it off. What's worse is that the bits are lunging at her with its sticky hold!

Oof, that was too close. Ringo was almost apple jelly there, barely jumping out of the way of that. She caught her breath, still feeling pretty gross on the inside, from the slime gunk. Unfortunately, when she turned her head up, she noticed Luigi taking the slime bits. Uh oh. Ringo took aim with her hand, going for the slimes stuck on Luigi and not actually him. Her aim is a little shaky, but thankfully not much physical aim is needed with her powers.

With a single, weak jolt of lightning, she shocked the slime off of Luigi then pointed her hand at the Fighter Fly...but seems to be distracted with Frisk. Looks like she's got it under control for now. At her current state, she probably shouldn't push her luck fighting so much, so she relents and gets back to the pipes. Better conserve her strength on the actual objective here...

Frisk was quite disappointed to see the fly still attacking Luigi, Gasping with a waggle of her sweater sleeves while declaring a "No no no no!!" In a pitiful fashion. Ugh, This is bad!
