Mr. Game & Watch
The Flat Zone
Alignment:
Motto: “BEEP!”
Allies/Friends: Yami, Pong Ball, Captain Falcon, Paula, Nurse Joy
Enemies/Rivals: Waluigi, Black Shadow,
Backstory: Not much is known about Mr. Game & Watch’s life before the Subspace Emissary events considering no one else from his era exists on Li and the flat man himself refuses to adapt to a common language that anyone else could understand. Anything that he has managed to communicate is that he was some form of God in his realm, though whether that has any merit has yet to be seen. The most that he has revealed is that his universe was far simpler than any other, there was no sense of complex emotion nor a separation of “good and evil”, so much so that he was completely unaware of the concept when joining the ranks of Master Hand and his army.
While being a part of the Subspace Emissary, they discovered that Mr. Game & Watch’s body was made of a strange material that could be used for their ideals of conquest, thus he was experimented on and had much of his body extracted. The material was soon weaponized into the substance known as Shadow Bugs, which would continue to plague his life later.
It gave him great importance in their army, thus he was placed in charge of the captured Halberd. After a team of rebels ransacked the airship though, G&W learned the errors of his way through the teachings of Peach and her glorious parasol. After a side of tea, he joined the rebels to take down his leader, Master Hand. Well, until he realized that the giant glove was merely a puppet of another greater being known as Tabuu, but he was generally oblivious to most of the events before or after the commandeering of his ship.
Appearance:
History On Li: Mr. Game & Watch appeared on Li along with the rest of those involved with the Subspace Emissary. It was before he could return to his Game & Watch system and ultimately to his home, thus he was plopped onto the world of Li and separated from his game system, which may or may not be on the planet. It may not exist at all and it may be yet another thing that G&W is completely delusional about.
The first recorded incident that the flat man was involved in was the Emergency Tactics 101 event where the Life Sphere was threatened to be crushed by the moon from Termina. G&W hardly thought much of this. He did join the fight when the infected invasion began, his eyes being primarily on Andross since he was the largest target and most definitely something that would boost his relatively unknown to low ego. Once the giant monkey face was weakened by his allies, G&W transformed and quickly stormed Andross, knowing he could not defend himself from his octopus form. Despite it being a combined effort of G&W and another select few, the 2-D egomaniac claimed the victory as his own, no one contesting him otherwise.
After that, Mr. Game & Watch was not satisfied with the high praise he was receiving and quickly hatched a new scheme. He had heard rumors around town that his ego had leaked to the masses, so he decided to play off that. He began to post signs around the Life Sphere, proclaiming his blind arrogance to rile up some opponents he would then later fight in the arena. Unbeknownst to his enemies, he secretly set up a charity fund through the Sunshine Stadium, every admittance ticket being worth at least an item. With his temporary unpopularity, people wanted to see the flat man beaten to a pulp. Once the battle was over and a tie was the verdict, the flat man made public his little plan, regaining the respect he chose to sacrifice.
To continue to ride the success of his popularity, Mr. Game & Watch signed himself up for a mission which involved hunting down a couple of criminals who were stealing food items from some of the residents of the Life Sphere, an operation run by Waluigi under the order of Bowser. He ended up succeeding in capturing the decoys while the true criminals managed to escape right in front of the big nosed hero. The outcome of this mission had put the 2-D man on Waluigi's hit list, even though he was able to escape the scene unscathed.
Due to Game & Watch's continued help toward the Life Sphere and the funds that were left over from his charity event (in addition to his own personal funds), Toadsworth and the flat man had come to an agreement for his reward. Mr. G&W demanded for a golden statue in his image in the town square. Since gold was somewhat worthless in this setting and played no part in stopping the infected menace, he got his wish. The statue was erected and unveiled, taking very few man hours considering the basic outline of G&W's body and the thinness of his body. This was at the height of his popularity, but even then, none of the residents were happy that their resources and time were wasted on a stroke of G&W's ego. The crowd gathered around the statue quickly began an uproar.
With the high tension at the event, Waluigi was able to enter the scene and take down both the statue and Game & Watch with a well-placed Cracker Launcher shell. Zero pursued after Waluigi and Ragna came to the aid of Game & Watch eventually. The two of them then continued the chase after the purple clad felon, catching up with Zero in no time. Eventually, Banjo Kazooie and Skeith joined the fray as well, making Waluigi's capture incredibly easy. Zero blasted Waluigi with his final smash, but again G&W came in for the knock out punch, parading Waluigi's trophy to the police station.
With turning in one of the most wanted criminals in the Life Sphere just recently under his belt, Mr. Game & Watch decided to open an autograph signing. Unfortunately, no one showed up besides a couple of terrorists.
Feeling that his popularity was already on the decline only a couple weeks after he brought Waluigi to justice, Mr. Game & Watch was on the prowl yet again. He searched the streets of the bubbled community for some sort of crime to stop to claim his former glory. In his searched he encountered a boy genius known as Porky Minch, who seemed to be up to some shady experiments. Figuring that such a child wouldn't give him too many points in his favour, he decided to take a different spin on this young felon. He made a deal that he would spare the boy community service for him to become his partner in crime. The deal was that he would create a ruckus to which Mr. G&W would play hero and save the day. Porky seemed to have a more sinister approach to this than G&W had originally thought, though was blinded by the fame he would gain from these series of stunts.
Together, Porky and Mr. Game & Watch searched through the archives of the Life Sphere for something they could work with and came across Genesect, the Cyborg Pokemon that was under Team Plasma's care once more. With a little more research, Porky was able to pinpoint Team Plasma's hideout and begin their raid of the place. Unfortunately, they were spotted, and the team fled the premises before anything could be taken or looted.
Becoming fed up with the lack of results from the tubby boy, Game & Watch cut their alliance and they went their separate ways.
With the passage of time, Mr. Game & Watch slowly began to slip into obscurity, or at least that was what it felt like. He began to feel frustration with himself, slowly and slowly becoming more insane with each passing day. It appeared there was no way for him to get back on top. There were more and more new comers each day and he couldn't keep up with them. He had to have that sweet taste of fame again, at any cost.
To his luck, there was a tournament being held in the Sunshine Stadium. His mind flooded with the praise he would get if he won, when he won. Without a second thought he entered. His first round was against Dante, which luckily for him did not end up as a tie, advancing him to the next round. Unfortunately, it appeared something stopped the tournament from continuing, so he had to find his fame booster elsewhere.
Once again displaying his strange outcome of luck, G&W came across another assignment to throw himself into the fray for. A mission to shut down a factory out in the infected lands that mysteriously turned on by itself? That sounded like a big score to him, the worst part of it was there was an additional five other no names signed up to try and steal his credit. To combat this possible foiling of his plans, Game & Watch decided to veer off from the group and handle the situation by himself. He sneaked into the facility and found Yami, The Emperor of Everlasting Darkness. Although, Mr. Game & Watch found the being in their fish form and considering he didn't know who was behind the running of the factory and he knew nothing about the God he mistook it for the villain's pet. As a ransom, he took the fish and quickly formed a bond with it, by the end of the mission he became very close friends with it. In the end the factory was shut down and G&W escaped thinking that the factory owner got away, but thought nothing of it since he gained his first true friend in the form of a symbiotic fish. Yami only choosing to follow the flat man since it could quite literally feed off his ego.
In a matter of days, Game & Watch grew even fonder of his new fish friend, so much so that he even named it, Mr. Gold & Fish. The two were almost inseparable, though it was questionable if Yami would separate from the flat man even if it was given the chance. There was so much repressed emotions and ego radiating from the creature that it would be senseless to stop. Whether the fish had an influence over him was questionable.
More shots at fame and glory came Mr. Game & Watch’s way, but for one reason or another, it all blew up in his face, causing his struggles to be worthless. He became upset with his lack of success, so he decided to return to scouring the outer reaches of the planet to try and find his Game & Watch system, so he could return home (assuming it existed at all).
During this point in time, the Life Sphere’s understanding of the Starvia improved drastically, so much so that they singled out that Shadow Bugs were a major ingredient to creating the virus. In which case, this made Mr. Game & Watch incredibly desirable, however, it would restrict his freedom. G&W didn’t believe the doctors when he was approached and refused to cooperate on top of it all, which did not bode well for his reputation with the Life Sphere officials.
Mr. Game & Watch hit a snag during one of his expeditions though. He doubted the severity of his worth to the scientists of the Life Sphere, so much so that they sent a team to retrieve him. Before they could bring him back to the Life Sphere though, there was a brief altercation with Black Shadow. Black Shadow was looking to capture G&W due to his bodily material being the blue prints for Shadow Bugs, which lead to the Starvia virus. He ultimately failed, and the flat man was brought back to the Life Sphere where he continued to evade the Life Sphere’s officials.
In the search of solace for his failures, G&W decided to attend the Life Sphere’s annual celebration of its continuing existence, known as the Celebration of Life. While there he lost a poker game and played a match of tennis with Waluigi to further grind his enemy into the ground. As the intense match was going on, Samus and the rest of the Life Sphere’s leaders were captured or something. He wasn’t paying much attention. As the news came out though, he immediately rushed to the frontlines, wanting to be involved in the rescue mission. This was his big break, he could reclaim his former glory by rescuing the Life Sphere’s leaders. He was refuted though, the Life Sphere officials restricting him from leaving the city limits from that point forward, noting the dangers of him being apprehended by Black Shadow.
Out of fury, he knew that there was only one place left in the Life Sphere that could help him out of his jam, Dante’s Weapon Shop. He couldn’t search the outskirts of Li anymore and Dante had the last lead he had regarding his Game & Watch system. After breaking into his shop and rummaging through his stock, he confronted the fiend and he simply handed the device over. He raced home in celebration, only to collide with an invisible Moundo, who accidentally crushed his last hope for home.
Yet another tournament came around town, attracting G&W yet again. Perhaps he could regain the ground lost by the last one’s failure. As he entered the coliseum on that fateful day, he realized that his opponent was a little girl. He retreated at the last minute, in fears of what the results could do to his reputation. He couldn’t possibly fight her, if he won he would be denounced as the scourge of the Life Sphere, beating child in arena fights. If he lost, then he would be known as so weak that he couldn’t possibly be taken seriously anymore.
After pacing around his apartment, Captain Falcon burst in, the bounty hunter turned police captain giving him one final chance to be escorted quietly to the Lightweather Hospital for testing. G&W nearly considered it, until Waluigi entered the scene and a fight broke out. At the conclusion, Captain Falcon separated the two and pointed out to G&W that if he continued down the same route he was, he could eventually end up exactly like Waluigi, if he wasn’t already. He had to learn to swallow his ego and do what was right. That he did. He surrendered to Captain Falcon and was brought to the Lightweather Hospital.
Once there, Mr. Game & Watch was experimented on in several ways, none of which he could remember. There was a lot of extractions going on though, that much he knew. He grew weaker, to the point that he was bedridden. He could no longer go on the adventures he was nostalgic for, but over time he realized it was for the better.
Primary Attacks (3)
Headbutt: While a regular headbutt from Mr. G&W might not seem all that formidable, his cranium morphs into a deep-sea diver helmet to further its attacking prowess. How the cosmetic change improves the damage output some may never know, but it will have a 25% chance to Stun[10%]
Chair Smash: Utilizing the most destructive weapon in his arsenal, Mr. Game & Watch summons a chair from the ether and slams it against his opponent. [18%]
Bug Spray: This insecticide is not merely limited to insects, in fact, the spray is so potent that it could make any organic life sick to their stomach. 10% chance to inflict sickness. [5%]
Manhole Flip: Utilizing his mystical Game & Watch powers, the Flat Zone fighter grabs the ground underneath his opponent, which temporarily morphs it into the same black substance as his body, and flips the ground underneath them. This will trip up the opponent so drastically that they will have a difficult time making dodge rolls the next turn, giving them a -2 modifier to all dodge rolls. [10%]
Special Attacks (3)
Frying Pan: Mr. Game & Watch is such a proficient chef that he can whip up a hailstorm of bacon within seconds. Being a skilled chef though, he knows just the right spices to interlace into his food items to damage his enemies and heal his allies. Allies may eat the bacon scattered around the battlefield (one available to each ally), which act as a healing item, user must consume a combat action to heal themselves, except they heal 5% + G&W’s CHR Mod and the user’s CHR Mod. For all non-allies though they will be dealt 8% damage. 4 turn cooldown.
Hammer: All foes must tremble before Mr. Game & Watch and his eternal judgement. Utilizing a hammer and sign denoting a randomized number from 1-9, the results may vary.
1 - 4% damage with 12% recoil.
2 - 8%
3 - 12% damage and has +2 to accuracy.
4 - 16%
5 - 18% damage and has 30% chance to paralyze.
6 - 18% damage and has 30% chance to burn.
7 - 18% damage and summons basic food item.
8 - 15% damage and 100% chance to freeze.
9 - 32%
Bucket: Game & Watch has no tolerance for enemy projectiles. Any projectile being aimed at Mr. Game & Watch can be absorbed into his bucket, however, he must succeed a WIS check (cannot absorb UA/FS). For each attack he absorbs, it will build up in his bucket. By emptying his bucket, it will deal damage equal to the damage that has been absorbed (does not carry over positive secondary effects, negative ones will be carried over and stacked), however, for each attack that is absorbed, the accuracy of emptying the bucket will be decreased by 1.
Fire Attack: This attack can be used one of two ways in combat. Mr. Game & Watch can use this attack as one Combat Action, pulling out a match stick and slamming his opponent for 15% damage and 10% chance to burn. Or, he can use this attack as two Combat Actions, charging his swing before smacking his opponent for 25% damage and a 50% chance to burn.
Octopus!
Eight deadly weapons, if only Mr. Game & Watch had enough arms to use them all… Eight… Octo… Of course! Transforming his body into a gigantic octopus, Mr. Game & Watch becomes the ultimate weapon. Instead of being restricted to merely three combat actions before haste kicks in, he will be able to do twice as many since he now has double the limbs! Transformation lasts for 3 turns, however, his speed and size make his ability to dodge much more difficult, giving him -3 to dodge rolls.
Other Info: After the many years, Mr. Game & Watch has learned that it is necessary to control his ego, however, he has yet to put that in action and he still might be tempted to return to his glory days should he be given the opportunity.

Butch the Chansey
Alignment: Neutral Good
Appearance:
Primary Attacks (3)
Hyper Voice: Using her mastery of her singing voice, Butch releases a high-pitched squeal that would rupture the eardrums of people who were deaf. This deals 17% damage + Butch’s CHR Mod and targets INT.
Seismic Toss: Utilizing telekinesis and bending the gravity surrounding the target opponent, Butch tosses the opponent into the air and lets her amplified gravity field do all the damage when they hit the ground. This in turn does 10% damage + the opponent’s CON stat. 1 turn cooldown.
Fire Blast: Butch spits a torrent of flame, engulfing the enemy with hot fire. This attack deals 26% damage, has a 30% chance to Burn, suffers a -1 to accuracy, and has a 2 turn cooldown.
Special Attacks (3)
Aromatherapy: Butch releases pheromones from her body, spreading amongst the entire group. It is a sweet, plant-based smell that not only calms the mind, but has intrinsic and powerful healing properties. Once the sweet scent is picked up by an ally or herself, it instantly cures them of all their statuses, in addition to healing them a slight amount, equal to Butch’s CHR Mod. 3 turn cooldown.
Wish: While not a Blissey herself, Butch can still perform a sacred blessing. She calls upon the powers of the cosmos to grant her favour in the battle she is facing and to grant either her or an ally a wish to be fulfilled. Suddenly, the target will be rejuvenated, as if blessed by a divine being. They will be healed by 1d13 + Butch’s CHR Mod. Should the target be so unlucky as to roll at least three nat 1s within the span of the last three posts, or the heal roll of this attack is higher than a nat 10, the target will also receive a +3 boost to a Mod of their choice for the next 2 turns, as they will become imbued with cosmic power. 4 turn cooldown.
Light Screen: With the power of Butch’s magical finesse, she can summon a protective screen of light before each member of her party. Butch will then make a WIS check. On the next turn of combat, each party member, including Butch, can use their light screen to block one incoming attack, only if Butch’s WIS check beats the DC to dodge. The light screen will act as a Bubble Shield, thus mechanically will be treated as such when taking the opponent’s attack. It will trigger the Bubble Shield’s activation cost, but the incoming attack will not affect the Bubble Shield’s overall health. 2 turn cooldown.
