It was an intense struggle, taking back the world after Dr. Eggman had successfully conquered it over half a year prior. Friends had been lost, lives sacrificed, and homes destroyed... but with the power of friendship and good on their side, Rookie and the Resistance had been successful in overthrowing the mad doctor's hold on the planet! Of course if it weren't for the help of Sonic the Hedgehog, someone Rookie could confidently call his beloved partner and best friend, they would've never gotten as far as they did... but that isn't to say that Rookie hadn't pulled his own weight throughout the ordeal.
Sonic and him had parted ways not long after the celebrations for the Resistance's victory and eventual disbandment had ended. Feeling changed as a person, long gone was the paralyzed and fearful weakling that Rookie had been before all of this. His experiences with his friends, especially Sonic, and the fights had each rubbed off the boy; instilling in him not only a braver persona, but the way to always look and move foreward. That was why he was leaving, and that was why he wouldn't look back as he swung away on his grappling hook.
Maybe if he had been looking back, Rookie would have noticed the disturbingly ominous rift in space closing in on him. Before the wolf knew it, the world around him had changed entirely: What once was the skies above the finally peaceful remains of Park Avenue was now... an oddly bustling city-scape, completely foreign. Well, this was just dandy; being right back in another post-apocalyptic world right after he had finished fixing his own! What kind of cruel karma did the universe run on?! ...but possibly what came as the greatest shock to Rookie was seeing his partner, Sonic, being on Li as well... and not portrayed in a very flattering or familiar life. Devoting himself to not only saving this new world, but also his best friend, Rookie set off on another spectacular and most likely perilous adventure!
Primary Attacks (3)
Wire Attack: Firing out a grappling hook wire from his wrist, Rookie can hone in on enemies in a flying strike similar to Sonic's own homing attack (sans spinning ball of destruction)! In addition (assuming they aren't blown away), Rookie can also grapple onto the enemy with the addition of consuming another action! [Heavy Dex Attack; DMG 22%, w/ grapple - consumes 2 actions; 1 post cooldown]
Fists of Hard Knocks: Rookie is by no means a master of close-combat, or fighting in general, having been a normal citizen not too long ago; however, months of fighting against Eggman's forces have forced him to become more and more adept at fighting with his god-given weapons over time. He may not be a martial arts master, but Rookie ain't a rookie no more in those regards. [Light STR Attack; DMG 8%]
Spin Attack: After spending a lot of time with his idol-turned-best friend, Sonic the Hedgehog, Rookie picked up a few tips and tricks from the speedy sensation. One such technique is the infamous hog's trade-mark Spin Attack; Rookie curling into a concussive ball resembling a living buzzsaw to convert his foreward momentum into a dangerous weapon. Although it's not nearly as effective due to lacking the former's spiny appendages, the blow can still do a crippling amount of damage if Rookie puts his whole weight into the blow; however this comes at the cost of moderate self harm. Rookie suffers a recoil equal to his DEX Mod minus his STR Mod. [Medium/Heavy Dex Attack; DMG 16% + Dex Mod]
Special Attacks (3)
Boost!: Channeling his inner speed demon, Rookie envelops themselves in a field of sonic energy that allows them to accelerate for a short period of time at speeds rivaling that of Sonic and Shadow! Rookie gains a +4 modifier to his DEX Mod and +1 STR Mod for 3 turns. Breaking the sound barrier comes at a cost though, as not only can he not hold this state for long, but it also leaves in a considerably more vulnerable state afterwards depending on how far he pushes himself. If Rookie succeeds an STR roll he would have otherwise failed without the buff, becomes afflicted with the Severe Fatigue debuff for an amount of turns equal to 4 - (Roll's Success Threshold difference) once the Boost ends. [+4 DEX Mod, +1 STR Mod, 3 turn duration, 4 turn cooldown]
Wispon Equip!: The centerfold of Rookie's arsenal, if these wide assortment of weaponized wonders seem familiar, that's because they're actually weapons derived from the Alien Race colloquially known as Wisps! Not able to just harness the creatures' "Hyper-Go-On" energy will-nilly like a certain blue protagonist, these pieces of equipment were designed by Tails the Fox to arm the non-powered soldiers of the resistance with powerful abilities without having to induce a time-limited transformation! Each different kind of weapon has a different method of attack, allowing Rookie a variety of assault options. Each Wispon requires a 4 turn cooldown after switching before Rookie can use them again, to avoid overheating, each one coming with it's own advantages/disadvantages:
- Burst: Attacks opponents with an unyielding stream of flames! +3 WIS Mod, -3 DEX Mod; Wispon Strike Status Ailment = Burn
- Lightning: Forms a whip of electric energy from it's barrel that can shock and strike at enemies with crippling accuracy. +2 STR Mod, -2 DEX Mod; Wispon Strike Status Ailment = Paralysis
- Drill: Launches Rookie foreward at a blinding speed, the fierce drilling of the weapon creating a deadly spiral force to pierce through his foes! +2 DEX Mod, -1 STR Mod, -1 WIS Mod; Wispon Strike Status Ailment = Stun
Wispon Strike: This attack is largely variable, changing depending on whichever Wispon Rookie has equipped; however it consistently involves Rookie unleashing a flurry of attacks from his trusty weapon. [Light "Wispon-buffed Mod" Attack; DMG 4% + Wispon-buffed Mod; 5% inflict Status Ailment (specified under "Wispon Equip!")]
